Claydol (Japanese: ネンドール Nendoll) is a dual-type Ground/Psychic Pokémon.
It evolves from Baltoy starting at level 36.
Biology
Physiology
Claydol has a large black body with two small legs, eyes encircling its head, and cannon-like arms that float separately from its body. It still has the markings it had as Baltoy.
Gender differences
Claydol is a genderless species.
Special abilities
In addition to being able to float indefinitely using telekinesis, it also can shoot beams from its cannon-like arms. It is able to keep its floating arms close to its body by use of psychic powers.
Behavior
Claydol is not used to exposure to modern humans, since it was created by ancient people. For this reason, it chooses to reside in places where humans do not usually tread, such as the Sky Pillar. It uses its psychic powers constantly to its advantage.
Habitat
Claydol can be found in caves and deserts.

Trivia
- The symbols on Claydol's chest and back resemble the Q form of Unown.
- Despite all its Sugimori artwork showing Claydol with perpetual eye pattern of "open eye"-"shut eye", all its back sprites depict it with all of its "eyes" open.
- Claydol has the highest Special Defense of all Ground-type Pokémon.
Origin
Its design is similar to the 遮光器土偶 shakōkidogū - a "spaceman" clay figurine from the Jōmon period of Japanese history. It also looks exactly like the connecting piece on Chinese bracelets.
Name origin
Claydol's name appears to be a combination of clay, idol, and possibly doll as well. Judging by the pronunciation, it may also be a combination of clay and dreidel, because Claydol and its pre-evolution look like tops. Nendoll is probably a combination of 念 nen, thought, and doll. Nen is found in various compounds having to do with ESP-related phenomena, for instance, 念写 nensha, spirit-photography, and 念動 nendō, telekinesis. It may also be (as the English name suggests) a combination of 粘土 nendo, "clay," and doll.
