Gastro Acid (Japanese: いえき Gastric Juice) is a non-damaging Poison-type move introduced in Generation IV.

Effect

Gastro Acid cancels the target's in-battle ability. Therefore, the target's ability will be ignored until it is switched out, even if it Transforms. It does not affect abilities that only have an effect outside of battle, such as Pickup.

Trivia

  • Despite being introduced in Generation IV, no Pokémon introduced in that generation can learn this move until Platinum. Even by the Platinum move tutor, only one Generation IV Pokémon can learn this move, Carnivine.
  • Gastro Acid cannot be used to deactivate the ability of a Plate-holding Arceus.
