Milo (Japanese: ヤロー Yarrow) is a farmer who is the Gym Leader of Turffield's Gym, known officially as Turffield Stadium. He specializes in Grass-type Pokémon. He gives the Grass Badge to Trainers who defeat him.

In the core series games

Milo is the first Gym Leader Galarian Trainers face in their Gym Challenge. He is a farmer that honed his skills working on his farm with his Pokémon, and can be often seen in Turffield trying to wrangle wandering Wooloo with his farm's herding Yamper. Despite his size and strength, Milo is a gentle, laid-back Trainer who has trouble giving it his all on weaker opponents and doesn't worry about winning or losing so long as each party is having fun. Nessa considers Milo her rival, as revealed in her League Card, but Milo doesn't seem to acknowledge this, claiming the only rival he has is himself.

Milo is first seen at Motostoke Stadium for the Gym Challenge's opening ceremony. The player first meets him at Route 4, chasing after one of the Wooloo used in his Gym Mission. Once the player has defeated Kabu, Milo travels to Motostoke alongside Nessa to congratulate the player and Hop on defeating the first three Gyms and wish them good luck with the rest of the Gym Challenge. At the Champion Cup in Wyndon, Milo is pitted against Raihan in the first round and loses. He also participates in the post-game Champion tournaments and the Galarian Star Tournament.

After Milo's initial defeat, the player is awarded with the Grass Badge, TM10 (Magical Leaf), and the Grass Uniform.

League Cards

This is a transcript of the back of Milo's League Cards in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Normal League Card
"This Trainer was born as the son of farmers. He has honed his strength, stamina, and skill as a Pokémon Trainer from a young age by working together with his Pokémon. Because of his gentle nature, he has trouble going all out on weaker opponents, which is why his Gym is the first one for challengers to attempt during the Gym Challenge. He always wears his boots, as apparently they let him dig in his heels when he needs to."
Rare League Card
"Though his record isn't the best due to his focus on simply having fun in battles, Milo himself is incredibly strong. The rolls of hay used in his Gym Challenge each weigh over 770 pounds, yet Milo can roll them around easily. Wooloo tend to roll around, too, and sometimes they can get carried away and roll out of the Gym Stadium. It has become common in Turffield to see the whole town chasing after Milo, who is in turn chasing after a stray Wooloo, along with Yamper."

Pokémon Adventures

Milo debuted in Chomp!! Defeat Drednaw. He, along with various other Gym Leaders, was first seen reacting to the news that Leon had endorsed two Trainers for the Gym Challenge.

In Watch Out!! Strong Rivals, Milo faced Henry, Casey, Hop, Bede, and Marnie in a series of Gym battles at Turffield Stadium and lost. Later, he, Nessa, and Kabu personally congratulated Casey and Hop for completing the first three Galar Gyms.

In Rumble!! The Horrific Darkest Day, the Galar Gym Leaders gathered at Rose Tower to find out if Rose intended on bringing harm to the region. While Oleana kept the Gym Leaders busy, Henry, Casey, Bede, Hop, and Marnie went up to meet Rose, only find he was elsewhere. On a video screen, Rose announced his intention to restart the Darkest Day and ensure the safety of Galar's future. Power Spot lights began appearing all over the region, causing Pokémon to start Dynamaxing at random. While some traveled to confront Rose at the Hammerlocke Energy Plant, Milo went back to Turffield to help deal with the rampaging Dynamax Pokémon.

In GRRR!! The Irrepairable Gears, Macro Cosmos employees were dispatched to deal with the Dynamax Pokémon, allowing Milo's group to provide backup for the others against Eternatus. By the time they arrived, Milo's group found Eternatus had fled, leaving those who battled it unconscious and covered in its poison. The injured were taken to a hospital to recover.

By PASS40, the others had fully recovered from Eternatus's poison and were discharged from the hospital. Milo and the others then set off to help stop the Darkest Day, which had begun once again.
