Walkthrough:Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky/Chapter 22
Shaymin Village
Once you graduate, progressing the story requires you to wait one day and then finish at least one mission from the Job Board.
It's been a while since you were forced to do these, so the ranking has increased:
- ★2 missions only add Vanish Seed to the reward pool, which temporarily turns you invisible.
- ★3 add most of the evolutionary items (i.e. all except Sun Ribbon, Lunar Ribbon and Beauty Scarf), though they're a relatively rare reward, especially if you're looking for a specific one. The big prize here are X-Ray Specs, a very powerful item. By wearing X-Ray Specs, you get to see the location of items and Pokémon on the map, as well as see things on-screen during darkness. The only other way to get them right now is to venture into Zero Isle East or West and get lucky with Kecleon Shops or the Secret Bazaar in there. They're an uncommon reward, but still worth the effort to seek them out; being able to see enemies and items from far-away is simply that good!
- If you unlocked one of the optional dungeons, their base difficulty can go up to ★4 (except for Shimmer Hill). This adds the No-Stick Cap and Link Box to the reward pool and removes the Gummi, making other items slightly more common.
- Certain types of missions increase the difficulty by one, which means it can go up to ★5. This finally adds Lunar Ribon, Sun Ribbon and Beauty Scarf to the reward pool, as well as Protein, Iron, Calcium, and Zinc. The vitamins are surprisingly common, given they're permanent, although given how unlikely a ★5 is to show up right now, it's not worth grinding for them here; there'll be a better way very soon.
Mr. Mime and Octillery will show up at the crossroads; there's seeminglly some commotion inside the Spinda Café, where Spinda informs everyone about rediscovering route towards Sky Peak, its treasure, and the Shaymin Village, then show its location on your map. This is a new dungeon not present in Time/Darkness and clearing it is mandatory to cause the event that appears in Time/Darkness at this point.
There isn't much of note in the village at the base of Sky Peak... for now. You can talk to everyone, as well as use Kangaskhan Storage and the Assembly Post to prepare yourself for the trek.
Sky Peak
Climbing The Mountain
You will be guided by Shaymin the first time around for this 40 floor long trek. This might sound like a lot, being one of the highest numbers in the game, but the path is actually split into 10 stations, each lasting only 3 to 5 floors. So you don't have to worry about managing your health, PP and food too much, especially since there are items for them on the way. If you find a blue box on the ground, pick it up; it's a Sky Gift. Using it right here will have no effect, so save it for later.
Every Station Pass ends with a clearing. The first and third one let you save your progress, while second and fourth have a base set up by Team Frontier where you can put your items into storage, or use Drifblim Gondola to go back. You will now also be able to use Drifblim's service to return to those bases from the Shaymin Village. The first three sections have the same Pokémon as the ones found in Mystifying Forest, after which it starts swapping in and out Pokémon, adding ones from a dungeon that doesn't unlock until later in the post-game.
Most of the items here are similar to Mystifying Forest, minus lack of TMs randomly spawning on the ground and different variety of Wonder Orbs. The Hidden Stairs however, are a treasure trove, as the Grab Bag/Secret Room will give out Gummis and stat boosters at a really high rate. It is worth coming here with a lot of money saved up and just buying as many Grab Bags as you can, especially since each section is so short you can immediately store them for future use.
Talk to Pachirisu on the third clearing; you will receive a Sky Gift as a thank-you for saving the planet.
Once you reach the fourth clearing, Octillery will show up and say that an explorer called Sneasel got confronted by a group of unknown Pokémon. Team Frontier, worried for Sneasel's well being, hurry off. However, these "unknown Pokémon" are not so unknown to Shaymin--since it rushes you to get ready and head through the fifth pass!

| 5th Station Clearing | ||||
| Carnivine | Clearing | 40 | Unrecruitable Boss | |
| There are five Carnivine. The Carnivine are only fought the first time. The player is not required to win this fight. | ||||
- Ivysaur/Metapod/Raticate/Weepinbell/Bayleef/Roselia/Flygon/Torterra/Skuntank: All of these were seen in Mystifying Forest.
- Hitmonchan: Tyrogue and Hitmontop are available in the optional Lost Wilderness, so go here for basic information. Hitmonchan has a decent variety in its level-up moveset, with multihit Comet Punch, Agility, Pursuit, Bullet Punch, Mach Punch and Vacuum Wave for two tile moves, Feint to ignore protect, elemental punches if you really need coverage (you probably won't) as well as Detect and Counter at higher levels. It can also learn Focus Punch, Focus Blast and Drain Punch via TMs. All those punching moves; some more useful, some less, but all boosted by its Iron Fist to make them even stronger. Like other Hitmons, its exclusive item only works for it, with the effect being chance to seal attackers' move.
- Primeape/Ursaring: If you didn't unlock the optional Shimmer Hill, this is the first time these two show up.
- Bibarel: Bidoof's evolution. It can now learn Focus Punch and Water Pulse via TMs.
- Fearow: Another Pokémon found from an optional dungeon, this time Mt. Mistral.
Sneasel in Trouble
At the fifth clearing, you'll see Sneasel being harassed by those unknown Pokémon. Team Frontier is getting upset and decides to battle them. Meaning, they'll help you battle them as well.
In this case, it's five Carnivine. As they are Grass-type, Fire, Flying, and Ice moves could work, however if you have any of the other types it's even better, though their movesets aren't too threatening and you have a numbers advantage, so it should be an easy fight. Even if you somehow manage to lose it, the game will progress with the story regardless. They have 150IQ points, but that doesn't really much; they will not pointlessly use status moves, they will not hit eaceh other in confusion and they can use items, but that's about it.
The Carnivine are guaranteed to know Crunch and will each know three of the following moves: Bind, Growth, Bite, Vine Whip, Sweet Scent, Ingrain, Faint Attack, Swallow and Spit Up.
After defeating them, they'll let you through. Shaymin explains that they're really nice Pokémon, but can get tipsy when someone else steps onto their territory.
There's another Team Frontier base on sixth clearing; however, it is also the last one, as they explain they can't really set up bases higher up, where the mountain is covered in snow.
At sevent clearing you'll find Team Frontier, surrounding Sneasel. Your team quickly rushes forward, wondering what happened. Breloom says he doesn't know, as Sneasel was knocked out before they came here, not giving you much information. Breloom wonders if it's because of the cold or because he ran out of items. Shaymin says it'll go get help, but Mawile stops it, asking who. Shaymin explains there's a rescue expert at the eighth clearing. It asks Team Frontier to look after Sneasel as your team goes ahead.
When you finish the eighth pass, you'll find an Ampharos, walking around. Ampharos starts a cozy talk with Shaymin, but Shaymin, though enjoys the small talk, says that there is an emergency. Shaymin hurriedly explains that the problem is on the seventh clearing. Ampharos listens to Shaymin and quickly goes.
It shows Team Frontier, mourning over Sneasel's "death". They get anxious when Ampharos comes, but Ampharos says it's here to help, and decides to take Sneasel to the eighth station clearing.
Sneasel wakes up a while later, on Ampharos's bed. Shaymin is concerned and asks if he's alright. Sneasel doesn't here Shaymin and wonders where he is. Mawile begins to explain that Sneasel passed out on the seventh clearing. Breloom indirectly thanks Ampharos for its help, as if Ampharos didn't come, then Sneasel would not be alive right now. Sneasel is surprised that anyone would ever do that for him, but Ampharos explains it wasn't just it--it starts to be modest, giving credit to everyone. Though Sneasel attempts to thank you, Sneasel falls back over, but Shaymin knows his words of thanks, saying Sneasel needs to rest. Ampharos gives you permission to go on to the summit, as it is going to take care of Sneasel itself.

The new three additions over here are:
- Furret: Evolved form of Sentret that shows up in the optional Shimmer Hill. Unlike Sentret, it is compatible with Blizzard TM. Much higher levelled, so less likely to have Helping Hand or Fury Swipes as an enemy.
- Marowak: Evolved form of Cubone seen all the way back in Northern Desert; can learn Focus Blast via TM now. It is high level enough now to possibly have the STAB multihit Bone Rush, so watch out.
- Shedinja: The special Evolution of Nincada, with completely different level-up moves after Lv. 20: Spite, Confuse Ray, Shadow Sneak, Grudge (though this is useless from player side), Heal Black and Shadow Ball. It can learn Dig, X-Scissor and Cut via TM/HM like Ninjask, but unfortunately not Silver Wind. Wonder Guard makes it immune to most things, but it can still be hit by typeless things like thrown items. It is much more potent as a team member, as you can use stat boosters to raise its health!
The Final Stretch to the Summit
Only two sections left. When you arrive at the ninth clearing, Shaymin seems to be suspicious of something, but ignores it and you continue it towards Summit Pass, the final section.
Eventually you make it to the summit. It's very foggy, and it looks like some smog is floating around. Apparently, it happened because Shaymin hasn't been to the summit for so long. Suddenly, Team Frontier comes! They are also surprised at the sudden fog. It's so different, Mawile can't even believe it's the summit. Without warning, some voice says their love for dust, dirt, and slime.
Suddenly, five Grimer and three Muk come out! Shaymin is annoyed by this and tells the Grimer and Muk that they don't belong here, and asks nicely for them to go back home. The Grimer strongly disagree, unfortunately. One of them even thinks we're lying! The Muk says that they hate "cleanliness" and drive it away. Shaymin grudgingly says they'll have to fight them...
Both the Muk and Grimer are guaranteed to know Acid Armor and will each know three of the following moves: Poison Gas, Pound, Harden, Mud-Slap, Disable, Minimize, Sludge, Mud Bomb, Fling, Screech and Sludge Bomb.
This time you're slightly outnumbered. The enemies might have some moves to poison, as well as Disable to paralyze, Minimize to make hitting them harder, with Screech as the big threat (if it does show up). Like before, Team Frontier will be assisting your team and Shaymin (see the moves above); Mawile will always have Faint Attack, so at least she should be doing some damage. Unlike the Carnivine fight, this is a boss fight you have to win. They also have 150IQ points like Carnivine, but with their IQ group skill that means one more benefit: they will recover from status conditions twice as fast.
After defeating them, all of the Grimer and Muk yell random things, and extend the words they say. Shaymin asks if they have "come to their senses". The Muk and Grimer wonder what Shaymin means, though soon find out and are extremely surprised. Shaymin asks what happened when it was away for so long. Shaymin tells them that this isn't their home. The Grimer are surprised to hear that and protest, as it's dirty and grimy. Shaymin then finds out...
No one's been there for so long. Shaymin apologizes, and says that this is the mountain summit, not their home. The Grimer appear to be very scared of the summit. Shaymin thinks it fell into disrepair since no one's visited for so long. Shaymin, though feels bad for the Grimer and Muk, refuses to let the beautiful summit come to an end just because of the grime, and asks them to return to their rightful home. The Grimer and Muk then go away.
Shaymin wants to clean up the place, and restore it back to full health. Mawile doubts this can happen, though Shaymin explains all Shaymin have a special power to clean up land and absorb dirty stuff. All the same, this is no easy task. Shaymin begins the task and tells you to get down, as it continues to store seeming dirty energy. It then releases all the energy.
The truth is the summit is a beautiful garden with many flowers. Mawile is surprised this is the summit. It's so beautiful... Machoke has nothing to say, though it might not be because the flowers literally took his breath away. Shaymin congratulates everyone on reaching the summit. Machoke is very happy to have made it. Mawile notices something and tells everyone to look over somewhere. It's the beautiful view of mountains seemingly sitting on the clouds. Breloom thanks Shaymin for taking all of you there. Shaymin says they should go back down, and everyone agrees.
...Until they see the downside as they wonder how to get back down. Shaymin does not worry and says it'll take all of you back to the base of the mountain. Mawile wonders how such a small body can carry this much Pokémon, but Shaymin says the flowers here are Gracideas, a flower that's special for the Shaymin. Shaymin touches the Gracidea and pow...changes Forme! Everyone is surprised, but Shaymin disregards this. Breloom wonders if Shaymin is adorable...(what?!) while Machoke is speechless. Shaymin doesn't care about that either and says that in this forme, it can fly. All of you then go to the base of the mountain, hanging onto Shaymin.
Additionally, for reaching the summit of Sky Peak, you are awarded with Sky Jukebox. By going back to title screen, you will now find an option to replay music that has already played in-game.

Traps encountered
The game will spawn 4 to 8 of the following tiles, plus extra in a Monster House.
Subsequent Climbs
Although you have managed to reach the summit of Sky Peak, there's still things to be done here! You can now find some NPCs hanging around at the odd numbered Clearings:
- Jumpluff and Delibird will simply give the player a Sky Gift. Jumpluff can also be found at the summit.
- Happinny will ask for a basic team-helping item: Apple, Big Apple, Oran Berry, Reviver Seed, Max Elixir or Escape Orb. While Reviver Seeds aren't exactly worth the exchange, fulfilling her request will have her send a Sky Gift to be received at Spinda's Café the next day.
- Numel will ask for one of the following Orbs, in exchange for a random TM, HM, or even a ticket for the Wynaut lottery. Similar to Final Maze, all of the machines can be obtained this way, but it is much less reliable, given you need to give up a specific item in exchange.
By climbing the Sky Peak for second time, you can talk to Shaymin. They will ask to join your team, which obviously you should accept, as this is the only way to have a Shaymin on your team. To change them into their Sky Forme, talk to the Shaymin near Kangaskhan Rock in the village; they give out one Gracidea flower per day. Using it in dungeon will cause Shaymin to become its Sky Forme. In Sky Forme, its ability is Serene Grace and it becomes part Flying-type. Not only that, but in this game, Sky Forme Shaymin has a very special benefit: it starts at double Movement Speed! It will stay like this until you reach a rest stop or the end of a dungeon.
Shaymin is in A IQ group. It learns Sweet Scent, Aromatherapy and Healing Wish in its Land Forme, Leaf Storm in its Sky Forme, and Energy Ball, Sweet Kiss and its signature Seed Flare in both, though Electivire will make it re-learn moves from both. It can also learn Bullet Seed via TM. Unlike most Legendary or Mythicals, its exclusive items is obtained via Croagunk's Swap Shop; it cures allies of the poison and bad poison status, while healing Shaymin by 10HP.
Additionally, it's time to explain how Sky Gifts work. They seem to be a magical items that only work if, as the name suggests, are gifted to someone else. By talking to Shaymin in the hut, you can send Sky Gift to your partner or someone at Wigglytuff's Guild. The day after doing so, talk to Spinda in the café to receive your compensation:
- A stat boosting item: Joy Seed, Life Seed, Sitrus Berry, or any of the vitamins.
- A Ginseng, to boost your damaging moves!
- A Reviver Seed; easily the least exciting item here, but useful nonetheless.
- A Gold Ticker or Prism Ticket to be exchanged at the recycling corner in Spinda's Café.
Alternatively, if you have a friend with a copy of this game, you can use wireless communication to send them the item. This will also work, although it will never yield Gold or Prism Ticket in this way.
Gold Tickets and Prism Tickets are normally available at Spinda's Café via recycling after reaching Gold Rank (1600) and Hyper Rank (10500), respectively. You are most likely at Gold Rank already, or at least close to it, but Hyper Rank would require doing a bunch of high difficulty jobs to achieve, so unless you dedicate time to grind it right now, your only Prism Ticket sources right now is either this or winning it from a Gold Ticket lottery.
There's a lot of TMs and stat-boosting items here, but these can be now found via treks to Final Maze and Sky Peak, respectively. There are however some rare items here:
- Pass Scarf appears only in few specific dungeons outside of level reset dungeons; as the name suggests, it passes on an adjacent attack to an enemy, including back at the user. It does cost a small amount of Belly each time this happens, though.
- Friend Bow gives a flat +5% to recruitment chance and is found only in specific dungeons, although it is not worth grinding via lottery, as not only there are better ways to get it, there are better items altogether later in the postgame.
- Weather Band and Mobile Scarf can be won this way as well.
- Dodge Scarf is a rare held item otherwise only found in really high difficulty missions and level reset dungeons that basically makes you immune to thrown items.
- Wonder Gummi is a rare Gummi that gives 15IQ, regardless of the type
- Miracle Chest gives a 1.3x EXP multiplier to the user and can otherwise only be found towards the end of Zero Isle South in a locked chamber.
- IQ Booster is an item that increases the user's IQ by 1 point every time they enter a dungeon floor (which is dungeon specific). It is an item added in Explorers of Sky and can otherwise be found only in a dungeon you are incredibly unlikely to have access to right now.
