Walkthrough:Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl/Part 9

This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
These pages follow the remade Nintendo Switch iteration, not Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The guide for those games can be found here.

Hearthome City

Hearthome City is a large city with many facilities, including the Hearthome Gym, the Super Contest Hall, and Amity Square.

When you enter from the west, you are welcomed by Keira and her Buneary, who tell you to visit the Contest Hall. After the conversation, you can explore the city.

The Super Contest Hall is in the northern part of Hearthome City. You will find the local Gym Leader Fantina in front of the door. Inside, Johanna, your mother, greets you and gives you a Tuxedo (male protagonist) or Dress (female protagonist). Contests are optional, but contribute toward full game completion.

Visit the Pokémon Fan Club further south. The chairman will give you the Poffin Case, which you can use at the Poffin House next door to make Poffins from Berries. Poffins raise your Pokémon's contest conditions and are required for performing well in Super Contests.

In the building east of the Pokémon Fan Club, take the elevator and talk to the woman to receive a Shell Bell.

It is currently not possible to challenge Fantina at the Hearthome Gym. You will be able to challenge her later after obtaining Surf. Continue south and you will meet your rival Barry, who challenges you to a battle.

Turtwig
If the player chose Turtwig:

A Hiker near the southeast exit to Route 209 will give you a Pokémon Egg containing a Happiny. Happiny can evolve into Chansey by leveling up while holding the Oval Stone, which is found in the Lost Tower to the east.

Amity Square

Amity Square is a large park north of Hearthome City where Trainers can walk around with their Pokémon and strengthen their bonds. Only certain Pokémon species are permitted to enter the square, primarily those with cute appearances. Walking with eligible Pokémon strengthens your bond with them. Every 400 steps, your Pokémon will find items such as berries and stickers.

You can find the Amulet Coin here, in one of the huts in the norwesthern part. This item is very useful to increase the money you receive from trainer battles.

When you exit, you will be able to have one of your Pokémon to walk with you outside of its Poké Ball.

Route 209

Route 209 stretches east from Hearthome City toward Solaceon Town. Near the gate out of Hearthome City, a Fisher will give you the Good Rod, allowing you to fish for more Pokémon species. Use it at the ponds on this route to catch Goldeen and Magikarp.

Hallowed Tower

The Hallowed Tower is a crumbling stone pillar on the west side of Route 209. If you placed the Odd Keystone on the tower's pedestal (found on Route 208), you can work toward encountering Spiritomb. After placing the Odd Keystone, talk to 32 different NPCs in the Grand Underground. Return to the tower and interact with it once you have spoken to enough people. Spiritomb will appear at level 25. It is a Ghost/Dark-type Pokémon.

Lost Tower

The Lost Tower is a five-floor tower in the southeast of Route 209, built as a resting place for deceased Pokémon. It is filled with Ghost-type Pokémon and is the only place outside the Grand Underground to catch MurkrowBD or MisdreavusSP.

The Oval Stone on 2F can be given to Happiny from Hearthome City so it can evolve into Chansey when leveled up.

At the top of the tower on 5F, two elderly women will reward you. The woman on the right gives you the Cleanse Tag, an item that reduces wild Pokémon encounter rates when held by the first Pokémon in your party. The woman on the left gives you three copies of TM96 (Strength). Strength is required to push large boulders and access certain areas later in the game.

After clearing the Lost Tower, head north along Route 209 to reach Solaceon Town.
