Walkthrough:Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl/Part 8

This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
These pages follow the remade Nintendo Switch iteration, not Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The guide for those games can be found here.

Route 206

Route 206

Route 206 is Sinnoh's famous Cycling Road, a long elevated highway stretching south from Eterna City. Mount your Bike before heading out -- the main road is accessible only to cyclists. Cyclist Trainers patrol the road and will challenge you to battle as you pass them.

The ground-level underpass running beneath the cycling path is accessible on foot. Tall grass on either side of the underpass provides wild Pokémon encounters. The entrance to Wayward Cave is also found in the underpass, on the west wall.

Once you reach the bottom of the Cycling Road, Wayward Cave awaits in the underpass.

Wayward Cave

Wayward Cave sits beneath Route 206 and has two distinct sections accessible from different entrances in the underpass.

1F

The main entrance to Wayward Cave 1F is a visible opening on the west wall of the Route 206 underpass. Inside you will meet Mira, a young girl trying to find her way out of the cave. She will accompany you through 1F and heal your team after every battle -- similar to Cheryl in Eterna Forest. All wild Pokémon battles and most Trainer battles while Mira is with you become Double Battles.

B1F (Hidden Entrance)

The hidden entrance to Wayward Cave B1F is located further west in the Route 206 underpass, past the main 1F entrance. Look carefully along the west wall in the tall grass, the concealed doorway is easy to miss. There are no Trainers in B1F, and Mira does not follow you here. However, to be able to progress, Strength is required, which is only received in the Lost Tower and requires the 6th badge.

The reason to seek out B1F is Gible, a Dragon/Ground-type Pokémon. Gible evolves into Gabite at Lv. 24 and then into Garchomp at Lv. 48. Garchomp is one of the most powerful Pokémon in the game, with outstanding Attack and Speed, so catching a Gible here is highly recommended. Use a Dusk Ball for the best catch rate in the cave.

Route 207

Route 207 connects the south end of the Cycling Road to the northern entrance of Mt. Coronet. The southern portion of this route near Oreburgh City was passed through earlier in the walkthrough.

Head west through Route 207 toward Oreburgh City first to visit the Oreburgh Mining Museum. You will encounter Dawn or Lucas near the northern edge of the route, who will give you the Vs. Seeker and Dowsing Machine. The northwestern corner of Route 207 has Berry patches with Oran, Cheri and Bluk Berries.

After obtaining the Dowsing Machine and Vs. Seeker, you can either continue east to the next section, or make a small detour through Oreburgh Mining Museum if you found fossils in the Grand Underground.

Oreburgh Mining Museum

The Oreburgh Mining Museum is on the east side of Oreburgh City. Hand any Fossils you have dug up in the Grand Underground to the scientist at the counter and he will restore them to living Pokémon free of charge.

In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, the Skull Fossil (which revives Cranidos) is more commonly found underground. In Pokémon Shining Pearl, the Armor Fossil (which revives Shieldon) appears more often. Cranidos evolves into Rampardos at Lv. 30, a powerful Rock-type attacker with one of the highest base Attack stats in the game. Shieldon evolves into Bastiodon at Lv. 30, a Rock/Steel wall with excellent Defense.

Route 207 (East)

The eastern portion of Route 207 leads from the Oreburgh area toward Mt. Coronet. Several Trainers patrol this section, offering good experience for your team before heading into the mountain.

Continue north toward Mt. Coronet.

Mount Coronet (South)

Head east through Route 207 to reach the southern entrance of Mt. Coronet. This cave section connects Route 207 on the west to Route 208 on the east. Use Rock Smash to break the cracked boulders blocking certain passages.

The Pokémon found here are similar to those in the northern section visited in the previous part of the walkthrough.

Route 208

Route 208 is a short, hilly route connecting the eastern exit of Mt. Coronet to the area just west of Hearthome City. The Berry Master's house sits along the route. Speak to the Berry Master daily to receive a random pair of Berries, and talk to his wife to receive five different Berries. She will also sell basic Berries for $80 each.

Before crossing the bridge, search the north side to find the Odd Keystone. Place it in the cracked stone tower (Hallowed Tower) on Route 209 and then speak to 32 different people in the Grand Underground to awaken Spiritomb.

Psyduck makes its overworld grass debut here at reasonable levels. It evolves into Golduck at Lv. 33, a solid Water-type attacker. Bibarel, the evolution of Bidoof, also starts appearing at higher levels.

Head east to reach Hearthome City, the starting point of the next part of the walkthrough.
