Hyperspace Newmoon Nightmare (Japanese: 異次元ミアレ 悪夢の新月島 Otherdimensional Miare: Nightmarish New Moon Island) is a pocket of Hyperspace Lumiose. The player encounters and battles a Rogue Mega Darkrai here. After calming it down, the player catches Darkrai and receives a Darkranite as reward.
Geography
This pocket of Hyperspace Lumiose takes the form of the home of the Mythical Pokémon Darkrai, Sinnoh's Newmoon Island: a mostly rocky island housing a small grove. Unlike the original island, the pocket's grove contains a dry crater instead of a pond, where Darkrai can be battled. The island contains gaps of void scattered around it, such as the pocket's edges. The island is in an eternal dark night, only illuminated by a large, circular portal in the sky that leads back to Lumiose City, resembling the full moon.
Special encounters
The player fights a Darkrai here. The player is partnered with Korrina and Urbain/Taunie for this battle.
During the battle, Darkrai will use Dark Void as its charged special attack, dealing damage in a large area of effect and making affected Pokémon drowsy. Drowsy Pokémon will take damage equal to 1/25 of their maximum HP every second.
(First phase)
After Darkrai's HP is lowered to 0, it undergoes Rogue Mega Evolution, completely recovering HP.
During this phase, Mega Darkrai will periodically create copies of itself that attack with Dark Pulse. Additionally, the damage over time taken by drowsy Pokémon increases to 1/16 of maximum HP.
Trivia
- It's implied that Hyperspace Newmoon Nightmare was formed from the subconscious of Darkrai, not only did it take the form of Newmoon Island: Darkrai's home in the Sinnoh region, but the only Pokémon residing there is Darkrai itself, the Pokémon who is also sustaining all of Hyperspace Lumiose.
- This location is reused for the pocket of Hyperspace where Genesect is encountered. However, it is simply labeled as Hyperspace Lumiose.
