In the subsequent confrontation, Lisa's Girafarig and Butterfree defeated Ash's Chikorita and Bulbasaur, but his Totodile, Noctowl and Cyndaquil defeated her Granbull, Aipom and Mankey, and Ash's Pikachu and her Quagsire came to a draw, and Ash won the battle.

Afterwards she and her Pokémon enjoyed lunch and got talking. Learning that the group were looking for a Pokémon Center, Lisa escorted them to nearby Greenfield. However they discover much more than Greenfield's famous mountains, and noticed the area was becoming a crystal wasteland. Professor Oak and Ash's mother soon arrived to investigate the odd phenomena, including the disappearance of friend Spencer Hale.
