Kato (left) and Kiko

Kato (Japanese: カンタ Kanta) is one of the two characters Ash and his friends meet in the beginning of Arceus and the Jewel of Life.

In the movies

Kato, along with Kiko, battled Ash and Dawn for their watermelons. Later, they advised Ash and his friends to see the ruins of their town. Later on, after Ash and his friends return from the corrected past, with Arceus subsequently recognizing Ash from the past events and restoring the destruction, Kato and Kiko were seen witnessing the regeneration of the bridge's structure. Kato and Kiko later made a brief appearance in the ending credits, where they are seen eating corn on the back of a tractor.

Pokémon

Heracross
Kato's Heracross

Kato used Heracross in the Tag Battle against Ash and Dawn over the watermelons that Kato and Kiko had collected but had washed down the river. In the battle Heracross was partnered with Kiko's Beautifly and proved to be a very strong opponent. Nevertheless, he was defeated by Pikachu's Thunderbolt while trapped by Piplup's Whirlpool. After the battle, he was seen enjoying the watermelons along with the others.

Heracross's known moves are Megahorn, Horn Attack, and Hyper Beam.
