Trivia
- No other Pokémon have the same type combination as Ferroseed and its evolved form.
- Similarly, no other Pokémon have the same egg group combination as Ferroseed and its evolved form.
- Ferroseed and its evolution have the fewest weaknesses of all Grass-type Pokémon.
- Ferroseed is both the slowest Grass-type Pokémon and the slowest Steel-type Pokémon.
- Despite being Grass-type, it cannot learn any damaging Grass-type moves by level up.
- Ferroseed can learn Metal Claw and Hone Claws despite having no visible hands.
- Ferroseed cannot learn Rapid Spin, despite its battle animation showing it constantly spinning.
Origin
Ferroseed may be based on Cockleburs, durians, or conkers, seeds from horse-chestnut trees or Datura, all of which are known for their tough skin and thorns. It may also be based on a mace or flail.
Name origin
Ferroseed is a combination of the Latin ferrum meaning "iron" (or possibly, from Portuguese ferro, same meaning) and seed. Similarly, Tesshido is likely a combination of 鉄 tetsu, iron, and シード shīdo, seed.
