(Japanese: ゲノセクト Genesect) is a dual-type Bug/Steel legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon, though it has other Formes.
It is currently the final Pokémon in both the Isshu Pokédex and the National Pokédex.
Biology
Physiology
Genesect has a head like a UFO, with two large eyes and a small mouth. Its body is similar to a Scizor, but more articulate. It has a powerful cannon on its back that was powered up by the perverse modifications made to it by Team Plasma.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Being modified by Team Plasma, Genesect is equipped with a powerful cannon that can shoot down everything around it. It is the only Pokémon capable of learning the move Techno Buster, which changes its type of blast depending on the cassette it holds.

In the games
Genesect was supposed to be revived from a fossil and powered up by Team Plasma to create the most powerful Pokemon ever. However, N despised the project because he felt that any Pokemon tampered with science has lost its pureness, which is why the project was abandoned. But the scientist kept working on it, and he's still upset that N denied his talent.

Trivia
- Excluding Arceus holding the Insect Plate, Genesect is the only Template:Type2 legendary Pokémon.
- As the only legendary Bug-type Pokémon, Genesect has the highest base stats of all Bug-types. Its base total is 600.
- Interestingly, Genesect can learn Fly, despite having no visible wings or known method of flight.
- Genesect is currently the only Pokémon which names a villainous team in its Pokédex entry.
- As of Generation V, Genesect is currently the last Pokémon in the National Pokédex order.
- Genesect is the only Pokémon which ends a generation in National Pokédex order that is not a Psychic-type in at least one form.
- Of the three unreleased Generation V event legendaries (consisting of itself along with Keldeo and Meloetta), Genesect is the only one that does not have an event signature move. Both Keldeo and Meloetta obtain their respective signature moves through as of yet unknown events, while Genesect already has Techno Buster from the start.
Origin
Genesect may be generally based on the giant insects of the Paleozoic era, although its Steel-type features give it a somewhat robotic appearance. It has existed for 300 million years, making it as old as the cockroach.
Name origin
Genesect's name may be a combination of the English words genetic and insect.
