Effect

Generation I

Growth is a Normal-type move. It increases the user's Special stat by one stage.

Generations II to IV

Growth instead increases the user's Special Attack stat by one stage.

Growth can be used as the first move of a Pokémon Contest combination, causing Absorb, Bullet Seed, Frenzy Plant, Giga Drain, Magical Leaf, Mega Drain, Petal Dance, Razor Leaf, SolarBeam, and Vine Whip to score double the normal appeal if used in the next turn.

Generation V

Growth now increases the user's Attack by one stage in addition to increasing Special Attack by one stage. In harsh sunlight, Growth raises Attack and Special Attack by two stages each.

Generation VI onwards

Growth's PP is changed from 40 to 20.

Growth can be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining an extra appeal point if the move Sunny Day was used in the prior turn.

If powered up by a Normalium Z into Z-Growth, the user's Special Attack stat rises by another stage.

Generation IX

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Growth is now a Grass-type move.

Description

SV The user's body grows all at once, boosting the Attack and Sp. Atk stats. ZA The user boosts its Attack and Sp. Atk stats for a short time by prompting its body to grow all at once. Champs Boosts the user's Attack and Sp. Atk stats by 1 stage. In harsh sunlight, these stats will be boosted by 2 stages instead.

• Comfey is the only Pokémon to learn Growth via level-up that isn't Grass-type. Outside of events, Illumise and Numel can also learn the move, but only through breeding.
