The Amp Plains tribes are two tribes of Pokémon which reside atop Amp Plains. The Luxio tribe[a] (also known as Luxray's tribe[b]) is a group of eight Luxio led by a Luxray that appears in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness. Manectric's group[c] (also referred to as a tribe[d]) is a group of eight Electrike led by a Manectric that appears in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. They are very territorial, and follow a "strike first, ask later" strategy.

According to Dusknoir, LuxrayTD/ManectricS's group was once a peaceful tribe, roaming around in search of a place for temporary rest. However, once they were attacked by a fearsome foe, and ever since they always "strike first for fear of being stricken". They reside in Amp Plains often, for it is cloaked by thunderstorms during parts of the year. During the time in which the hero adventures, Team Skull takes Azurill's Water Float and places it within LuxrayTD/ManectricS's habitat in Amp Plains, hoping for the hero's team to be attacked by the famously territorial Pokémon while retrieving it. The hero and partner try to hide from the group upon their discovery only to find the action useless; Luxray claims to see any that hide while Manectric would prefer that they hide so he could sneak up quietly from behind. Realizing that hiding is useless, they stand up to the challenge, but find themselves surrounded.

After the fight, as LuxrayTD/ManectricS uses a last-ditch attack that resembles Charge Beam, Dusknoir arrives just in time and manages to defuse the situation, convincing the tribe's leader that the hero and partner had a non-malicious reason to trespass. LuxrayTD/ManectricS decides to allow the group some time for their task and then leaves with their tribe. None of them are seen again during future visits.

Trivia

  • Manectric's group replaces the Luxio tribe in Explorers of Sky due to the introduction of Shinx as an available candidate for the hero or partner in this version.
    • Similar changes were made to the regular dungeon appearances of most new hero candidates and their evolutions in Explorers of Sky. Phanpy, Shinx and Luxio no longer appear as regular enemies in Amp Plains prior to graduation, Donphan and Riolu no longer appear in Crystal Cave prior to graduation, and Vulpix has been removed entirely from Deep Dusk Forest. Exceptions include Ninetales and Leafeon, which still appear during the main story in Treeshroud Forest and Deep Dusk Forest respectively.
