Shieldon (Japanese: タテトプス Tatetops) is a dual-type Rock/Steel fossil Pokémon.
It is resurrected from an Armor Fossil and evolves into Bastiodon starting at level 30.
Biology
Physiology
Shieldon is a small, ceratopsian-like reptilian Pokémon with a yellow body. It has white toes and bears a white bump on its back. Shieldon has a dark-gray oval-shaped face, with a prominent brow that is white in coloration and a white rim on their black snout. Shieldon may be ancient relatives to the Aron line due to identical typing and partially similar movepools, especially the ability to learn Metal Burst.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Shieldon possesses an extremely hard facial hide; however, it is vulnerable when attacked from behind.
Behavior
Shieldon has a habit of polishing its face against tree trunks.
Habitat
Shieldon once lived in dense forests, but has been extinct from the wild for 100 million years and only exists via being cloned from fossil samples, and descendants of said clones.
Fossils from which Shieldon can be resurrected can only be found in the Sinnoh region.

In the manga
It appeared under the ownership of Byron, which he wasn't able to befriend even after carrying it outside of its ball for an extended period. As Diamond was able to do so even without knowing it, he decided to give it to the boy prior to his training on Iron Island, which he names "Don". It evolved into a Bastiodon later in the showdown against Team Galactic. Additionally, Byron has another Shieldon.

Trivia
- Shieldon and Cranidos evolve at level 30, the earliest of any fossil Pokémon.
- Shieldon bears a remarkable resemblance to Aron.
Origin
Shieldon is based on a Ceratopsian dinosaur and a shield. Its lack of horns makes it particularly similar to a Protoceratops.
Name origin
Shieldon's name is derived from "shield" referring to the shield-like growth on its head, and don which is a suffix in various dinosaur names. Tatetops comes from the words 盾 tate, shield, and -tops, which is a suffix that's used in the names of horned dinosaurs and means "head".
