Houndoom first appeared in EP180. When Misty's Togepi got separated from Ash and co, the Spike Ball Pokémon came across a Houndoom that was delivering a package. Houndoom took Togepi back to Ash, Misty and Brock.
A Pokémon Hunter was using a Houndoom along side a Scyther to chase Celebi at the begining of Pokémon 4Ever.
Harrison used a Houndoom against Ash during the Silver Conference.
Joshua used a Houndoom in the Pacifidlog Town Contest during AG115-AG116.

Houndoom is similar to a Dobermann, but may have been inspired by Cerberus or other legends of hellhounds.
Name origin
Houndoom's name is a combination of hound and doom. Its Japanese name is based on hell, alluding to its firey nature.
