| *If Darkrai was indeed the cause of Eldrich's son's nightmares, it is highly likely that it is aware that the player cured the boy using Cresselia's Lunar Wing. This can be speculated due to the fact that, when the player takes the Member's Card to the Canalave Inn, the innkeeper (presumably a shade of Darkrai) states that he has been waiting for the player's arrival. The player then falls asleep at the inn, only to 'awaken' at an abandoned Newmoon Island, where Darkrai must be caught or defeated in order for the player to awaken from their nightmare at the inn. | | *If Darkrai was indeed the cause of Eldrich's son's nightmares, it is highly likely that it is aware that the player cured the boy using Cresselia's Lunar Wing. Uber legends are thought of as super-pokemon, and are usually banned from Tournaments and Competitions. Darkrai's powerful combination of its ability, "Bad Dreams", combined with its 90% acurate Dark Void ( which puts all opponents Pokemon on the field to sleep, be there one or two ), Nightmare and Dream Eater would leave most opponents screaming "What the hell just happened!?", and as a result, lead to Darkrai's declaration of being an Uber Legend. |

While Carl's side looked far more balanced than Patrice's, the latter had two little tricks up his sleeve. The first thing Carl had not been counting on was Manaphy's 'Hydration' coupled with Kyogre's 'drizzle'. However, the 2nd was Patrices Darkrai. Darkrai put Carl's last pokemon, Heatran, to sleep straight away, and charged itself imensly with 3 'Calm Mind's, before Heatran awoke. Needless to say, Heatran was asleep by Darkrai's next turn. But this time, Patrice took advantage of Darkrai's talents, starting by using 'Nightmare', followed by two 'Dream Eater's. Heatran did not wake up that time. |

Darkrai (Japanese: ダークライ Darkrai) is a Dark-type Legendary Pokémon of Generation IV.
Biology
Physiology

It has skinny arms and long black tatters hang from its shoulders. It has an hourglass figure and appears to be wearing an old, ripped cloak. It normally doesn't have any sort of legs, but it is able to extend stilt-like appendages in their place.

Darkrai is genderless.
Special abilities
Apparently, Darkrai's signature move is Dark Void. Darkrai can also trap people in nightmares.

Whilst Darkrai isn't nesting in the dreams of humans, it lingers around a lost island called Newmoon Island.
Diet
Main article: Pokémon food
Possibly dreams, characterized by its association with never-ending nightmares and the ability to learn the move Dream Eater.
In the anime
Darkrai co-starred in Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai. Darkrai is the protagonist in the movie. Darkrai took the task upon itself to stop the fighting between Dialga and Palkia. In the movie, Darkrai is very protective to one of the characters Alice, because her grandmother Alicia helped Darkrai when it was injured.

Evolution
Trivia
- Darkrai is the first Dark-type legendary Pokémon. This is the first event legendary Pokémon, which was thought can only be received during a Pokémon event or a Nintendo event. However in the Japanese version of Diamond and Pearl, It can be caught through the Surf glitch of the first room of the Sinnoh Elite Four.
- Darkrai was officially revealed to Japan in the March 2007 edition of Coro Coro. It is yet to be officially ackowledged in America.
- Cheaters can reach Darkrai by using the infamous walk anywhere cheat. If they start at Full Moon Island and walk across the water to the right, they will reach New Moon Island. Between these islands is the Mystery Zone. From the island, they can simply take a boat back to Canalave City.
- The boy of the sailor who owns the boat that normally goes to Iron Island says "DAR... DARK... Is watching me..." He may mean Darkrai.
- If Darkrai was indeed the cause of Eldrich's son's nightmares, it is highly likely that it is aware that the player cured the boy using Cresselia's Lunar Wing.
- In July 2007 Darkrai was announced as the first "Uber Legend" of the fourth generation, followed by Arceus and Manaphy.
- In a small ledgendary match held between the winner of the Rockafeller Under 16's Tournament 2007, Patrice O'Neal, and the runner up, Carl Bennet, was held on the 8th of August 2007. Each had a team of their 3 favourite ledgends. Patrice's contained a Kyogre, a Manaphy and a Darkrai, while Carl's contained a Lugia, a Heatran and a bug-type Arceus. While Carl's side looked far more balanced than Patrice's, the latter had two little tricks up his sleeve. But this time, Patrice took advantage of Darkrai's talents, starting by using 'Nightmare', followed by two 'Dream Eater's. Heatran did not wake up that time.
Origin
Darkrai's appearance suggests it is based on the concept of nightmares. It also resembles a shadow.
Also, due to the fact that it causes some people to never awake from their nightmares, it is the Pokémon version of Freddy Krueger.
Name origin
Darkrai's name is a combination of the word dark and the Japanese word for "dark" (暗いkurai).
