In the anime
Swinub first appeared in Spring Fever. They were used by Peggy and her father to sniff out places to dig for hot springs.
Swinub also make a cameo in Queen of the Serpentine. The little wild boar Pokémon was one of Lucy's pets.
One of the Pokémon that was with a Poké-Sitter in Pinch Healing! was a Swinub.
Swinub also made an appearance as one of the Pokémon owned by Nurse Joy in Drifloon on the Wind!.
Three Swinub were featured in DP063; they were owned by Yumomi, another one of Dawn's childhood friends.
A recent trailer of Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin implies that a member of the main cast may catch a Swinub, as one is standing next to Dawn's Pokémon. If this is true, it will be the fourth Generation II Pokémon owned by a member of the main cast during the Diamond & Pearl series, after Aipom, Sudowoodo, and Gligar.

In the Pokémon Special manga
Swinub is seen as one of the Pokémon under Pryce. When Pryce is lost in time, a Swinub is seen with him.
