Trivia
Origin
Ken Sugimori said that Pokabu and its evolutions were meant to evoke a Chinese feel. It appears to be based on a saddleback piglet. Its typing and appearance are reminiscent of Zhu Bajie, a pig demon from the Chinese tale, Journey to the West. Infernape is also based on another character from the novel, Sun Wukong, and has a similar design.
Name origin
Pokabu is derived from ぽかぽか pokapoka, warmth circulating through one's body, combined with 豚 buta, pig; or ブー bū, "oink".
