Zoroark: Master of Illusions (Japanese: 幻影の覇者 ゾロアーク Ruler of Illusions: Zoroark) is the fourth and final Diamond & Pearl series movie and the thirteenth Pokémon movie overall. It premiered in Japanese theaters July 10, 2010, and will premiere in the United States on Cartoon Network on February 5, 2011.

Plot

The movie starts with Ash, Pikachu, and company stopping by in a house where they intend to watch a match of the Pokémon Baccer World Cup between the evolutionary line of Elekid and Beldum. During the match, Team Rocket disguise themselves as janitors and ask Ash and co. what they're watching. Brock explains about what the Pokémon Baccer World Cup is, and an image of a mysterious man shows up after the match in the TV and exhibits its team formed by a Raikou, Entei and Suicune, that quickly drags the spinning-top shaped object in the floating pyramid, making the gang want to see them live. Recognizing them as legendary Pokémon, Team Rocket start getting excited of capturing them. A Nurse Joy then shows up, saying that she is also very excited for the match. As he normally do, Brock falls in love with Nurse Joy, and got attacked by his Croagunk, pushing him away. Ash then proposes to reach Crown City before the day's end, where the next Pokémon Baccer World Cup will be held. Brock quickly recovers and say that he will lead Ash and Dawn through shortcuts.

Meanwhile, a Zoroark rests in a large carrier plane, and Zorua fumbles out of Zoroark's hair, who seems to be the child of Zoroark. Suddenly, an automatic door opens, where Zoroark and her son find himselves face-to-face with Raikou, Entei and Suicune. Behind them, the business man Grings Kōdai and his assistant, Rioka, stay in a chamber. Rioka tells Kōdai that the final adjustments are ready. Kōdai then tests Zoroark's use of illusions by commanding the illusions of the legendary beasts to attack Zoroark. Zorua tries to attack Raikou, but Zoroark stops him and puts him into her hair for safety. Kōdai asks Zoroark if she cherishes her son that much, but Zoroark quickly transforms into Raikou. Zoroark fills the area with thunderclouds that ascends to Kōdai and Rioka. At the same time, Kōdai activates an illusion in his bracelet. The thunderclouds penetrate them, but Kōdai reveals that Rioka and himself are illusions, and that the cameras were also fooled by the illusions.

Kōdai's bodyguard, Goon, soon announced that they will be arriving in Crown City soon. Kōdai dismisses the illusions of the legendary beasts, and Zoroark transform back to her own form. After such, Zorua jumps from his mother's head and foresights the zone. Kōdai says that the test is over and that Zoroark did a marvelous performance. He sends out a Ninjask, and it captures Zorua, paralyzing Zoroark in place to prevent her from saving him. After Zorua have been taken away, Zoroark immediately rams the ceiling, trying to go after the Ninjask, but fails. Kōdai threatened Zoroark, that if she wants his son back, she will need to stay obedient, in which Zoroark roars at him in response.

Unknown to Zoroark, Zorua managed to escape from his Pokémon captors consisting of Scizor and Ninjasks, and falls out of the carrier ship. During the fall, he finds a group of Hoppip, Skiploom and Jumpluff,. He grabs one of the Skiploom's bloom, which spins around. After a while, Zorua falls off, but quickly transforms into a Skiploom to float safely towards the ground.

Inside the plane, Goon confirms to Kōdai that Zorua has escaped, but it hasn't changed Kōdai's plans, since Zoroark is unaware of Zorua's escape.

Meanwhile, Zorua angers a group of Vigoroth after falling on top of one. Ash and his friends arrived and called out their Pokémon to stop the fighting. The Vigoroth soon lose interest and run off. Zorua claims that he didn't need any help, to which Ash, Dawn, and Brock argue with him until they all realize that Zorua is talking to them through telepathy. Zorua then says that he is going to Crown City where his Maa, Zoroark, is. Ash and his friends agree to help him, and Zorua shows off his ability by transforming into Ash.

After Kōdai blackmails Zoroark, by using an illusion image of Zorua, Zoroark began destroying Crown City in the guises of Raikou, Suicune, and Entei. Celebi, returning to the town for the first time in twenty years, is presented with its own crisis, due to that prior to the movie, businessman Grings Kōdai discovered Celebi in Crown City, and touched the "ripple of time" that was produced due to Celebi's time travelling. As a result of this, Kōdai gained the ability to have powerful hallucinations that shows him the future, while destroying all of the greenery within the city.

Soon, Celebi found itself and Zorua chased by Kōdai's minions. This pursuit forced them into the Pokémon Backer Stadium, where they were cornered by Kōdai, who disables Celebi and captures Zorua in order to blackmail Zoroark once more. Kōdai then finds what he believes to be the ripple of time, and begins to absorb its power. The "ripple of time" ends up actually being an illusion created by Zoroark, who attacks but is promptly defeated by the angry Kōdai. However, Celebi uses the power of the true ripple of time to heal Zoroark, who recovers and defeats Kōdai with the help of the guardians of Crown City.

During the credits of the movie, the news report published by Kurt and Rioka reveals that Kōdai and Goon were both arrested and sent to jail.

In Japan, people who pre-ordered tickets to the movie received a Shiny legendary beast; Entei, Raikou or Suicune. The Shiny legendary beasts can activate a Zoroark event if traded into a Generation V game. A Celebi could also be downloaded in the cinema, but this did not require pre-ordered tickets. Also, Goon's Scizor could be downloaded over Wi-Fi after the movie's airing.

Trivia

• This is the only Diamond & Pearl series movie that is a stand-alone movie. The other three Diamond & Pearl movies are part of a trilogy.
• The movie's fictitious setting is based on various locations in the Netherlands and Belgium, such as Magere Brug, Amstel River, Kinderdijk and Brussels.
• This movie marks the first time all three of the legendary beasts appear at the same time in the anime, and the first time Raikou gets a starring role in a movie.
  • This movie also marks the first time a Shiny legendary Pokémon (in this case, Raikou, Entei and Suicune) appears in the anime.
• This is the third Pokémon movie so far that does not have a legendary Pokémon as the main featured Pokémon, the first being Spell of the Unown and the second being Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.
• The teaser trailer shown at the end of Arceus and the Jewel of Life, showed Ho-Oh and Lugia locked in an aerial battle, and Zoroark transforming into a darker version of Ash. Neither of these elements made it into the final film.
• Even though the movie aired in Japan between League Unleashed! and Casting a Paul on Barry!, it does not actually take place in that time period, which is during the Lily of the Valley Conference.
• This movie was released in Taiwan on July 30, 2010, which was just 20 days after its Japanese premiere.
• Professor Rowan, Rhonda, Johanna, Paul, Zoey, Barry, Nando, Kenny, Conway, Ursula, Cynthia and Palmer make cameo appearances in the movie's credits, along with the Sinnoh Gym Leaders Ash battled and Elite Four. Most of them appeared with one of their Pokémon.
• Ethan makes a cameo in the beginning of the film with a Donphan, seen in battle with Ash.
  • This makes this movie the second in which Ash battles a Trainer with a Donphan in the beginning. The first was in Mewtwo Strikes Back.
    • It should be noted that Ethan isn't Jimmy from The Legend of Thunder! TV special.
• The Officer Jenny seen in this movie has a star symbol on her hat, which was the same symbol worn by the Jenny in Viridian City (who was also the first Officer Jenny to appear in the anime).
• This is the only appearance of any Generation V Pokémon prior to the Best Wishes series.
• Bronzor's Psychic was used to levitate Zorua. In the games, this would not work, because Zorua is a Dark-type.
• This film will be shown at local theaters during the Pokémon Black Version and White Version Tour between February 5th, 2011 and March 20th, 2011 in the US.^[1]
  • This makes it the first film shown in US theaters since Pokémon Heroes in 2003
• This film airs in English on the same day as Memories are Made of Bliss!, the last episode of the Diamond & Pearl series.

Rhyperior's mouth's color error

• In the credits, Palmer's Rhyperior's mouth was the same color as its horn and the top-most part of its body.
