Dewott (Japanese: フタチマル Futachimaru) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
It evolves from Oshawott starting at level 17, and evolves into Samurott starting at level 36.
Biology
Physiology
Dewott is a bipedal, otter-like Pokémon that is primarily light blue in coloration. It has small black ears, a pointed crest at the back of its head, a red nose shaped like a tilted oval, and long white whiskers forming tilted "V" shapes. Its forelimbs sport three fingers on each black-colored paw. Around its waist is a large, blue, fringed adornment, with seashells—like those Dewott possessed as an Oshawott—on the thighs. Its feet are tipped in black and its somewhat plank-shaped tail is also black-colored.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Dewott can detach the two shells from its hips and use them as bladed weapons. Swordshell-wielding attacks differ between Dewott.
Behavior
Dewott strictly train themselves to be able to master its shell swordsmanship. It never fails when keeping its swordshell in shape.
Habitat
Dewott primarily live in water, but are actually amphibious, like Oshawott and Samurott.

Another one appeared in A Connoisseur's Revenge! under the ownership of Burgundy; it was used to battle Cilan's Dwebble.
Minor appearances
Two Trainers' Dewott made a brief appearance in A Rival Battle for Club Champ! on a computer screen in the Luxuria Town Battle Club. In A Connoisseur's Revenge! multiple Trainers' Dewott were seen at a Poké Mart.

Trivia
- Dewott was first seen on concept art from the Best Wishes series along with Servine, Woobat, and Axew.
- Dewott's English name, as well as Servine's, was officially confirmed through the anime in The Battle Club and Tepig's Choice!.
Origin
Dewott is based on a sea otter and samurai[1]. Its trait of fighting with its two shells may be based on Tessenjutsu, a type of martial arts involving the Japanese war fan.
Name origin
Dewott is a combination of dew, water and otter. It may also be a combination of "dual" or "duel" and "otter", considering that Dewott uses two shells to fight. Furthermore, "duo" is the Italian word for "two," meaning the second in its evolutionary line. Also, Helen DeWitt' is the name of the author of The Last Samurai. Futachimaru seems to come from 二つ futatsu meaning two, 太刀 tachi meaning long sword, and 丸 maru, a common ending in a boy's name, especially in the time of samurai. The 二 futa in Futachimaru may imply a lineage within the evolutionary line, with Dewott being second in line.
