A Secret Base Trainer (Japanese: ひみつきち Secret Base) is a type of Pokémon Trainer introduced in Generation VI. They may have the appearance of any of a variety of Trainer classes depending upon the Trainer class chosen by the player they represent. When in the Secret Base of another player, all Secret Base Trainers except for the owner will have the name Grunt (Japanese: したっぱ Underling).
The team of a Secret Base owner or a Secret Pal is made up of the first three Pokémon that were in the player's party when their base was saved (or fewer if the player does not have that many). Grunts' teams depend on the Trainer class they are represented as. The maximum level of a base owner or Secret Pal's team is (Badges + 2) * 5
