Pokémon the Series: The Beginning
The Hidden Village appeared in Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village. Ash and his friends stumbled across it by accident while on their way to Vermilion City. Brock fell off a bridge and was swept away by a river. Melanie rescued him, and she brought Ash and Misty to the village.
Helping to protect the village was a Bulbasaur, who Melanie said it volunteered to guard it. Although it meant well, Bulbasaur was unintentionally causing all the Pokémon to stay in the village since it was so safe. After saving it from Team Rocket, Melanie asked Ash if he wanted Bulbasaur to come with him. Ash agreed and caught Bulbasaur. The group later left the village.

The Electric Tale of Pikachu
The Hidden Village appeared in Pikachu's Excellent Adventure. After meeting A.J. and Samurai and learning from them about the Hidden Village, where Pokémon abandoned by their Trainers supposedly lived under the protection of a "goddess", Ash, Misty, and Brock left to search for it and boarded a bus. However, Pikachu was briefly distracted by talking to a Charmander and a Squirtle and was accidentally separated from Ash as a result. Pikachu, Charmander, and Squirtle left to search for the Hidden Village themselves, joined along the way by a wild boy named Tommy and his adoptive mother, Kangaskhan. When the group of travelers met the Team Rocket trio, the trio decided to pretend to be helpful and joined the group in order to get to the Hidden Village themselves, hoping to steal rare Pokémon from there.
When the travelers eventually reached the Hidden Village, they were met by the village's protector, an ordinary girl named Melanie, whom the local Pokémon viewed as a goddess due to her kindness. Team Rocket started attacking the Pokémon of the village to capture them, but were quickly sent flying by Kangaskhan's Mega Kick. While Charmander had a tearful reunion with its Trainer, Damian, Pikachu left the village to go reunite with Ash.
