Forina (Japanese: ファウンス Fauns) is an animated series-exclusive location and one of the settings for Jirachi: Wish Maker. It is characterized by scrubs and pillar-like rock formations. The area's mountainous terrain makes it difficult to access even on foot.
The caverns beneath the valley are where the Mythical Pokémon Jirachi hibernates for a millennium between the periods where it is awakened by the Millennium Comet for seven days. The power that Jirachi absorbs from the comet is said to maintain Forina's natural beauty.
Butler and Diane first visited the area and obtained Jirachi in the hope of restoring the Legendary Pokémon Groudon from a fossil. Butler somewhat succeeded, with Jirachi's power managing to unleash Meta Groudon. However, it began absorbing energy from Forina's landscape with its tentacles, consuming people and Pokémon alike. After a long battle, Jirachi used Doom Desire to destroy the Meta Groudon. As a result, Ash, his friends, Team Rocket, Diane, Butler, and Forina's Pokémon were revitalized.
While Jirachi returned to its crystalline slumber, Diane and Butler decided to stay in Forina. In the ending credits of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Kidd Summers visited Forina and met up with Butler and Diane.
According to promotional posters, it is located just southwest of Hoenn's Mt. Chimney and northwest of Lavaridge Town.

Trivia
- In Chuang Yi's English translation of the manga adaptation of Jirachi: Wish Maker, Forina is spelled as "Ferina".
Origin
Forina is based on Wulingyuan, a scenic area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the province of Hunan in China. The site is dominated by thousands of quartzite sandstone pillars several hundred meters high that are spread across the forested landscape.
The production notes in the official Japanese movie pamphlet reveals that Director Yuyama found his inspiration for the setting after seeing a photo of Wulingyuan on a magazine cover. He noted that the tall rock formations would provide a sense of scale for the aerial battle, along with the mysterious atmosphere surrounding the site would make it an ideal spot for Jirachi to hibernate.
