Trivia

Swinub and it's next evolution form, Piloswine, were the only Ice/Ground-type Pokémon released with the Generation II games.

Origin

Swinub's size/appearance seems to be based off a Peruvian guinea pig, whose mountainous habitat echoes that of the Ice Path in Johto, and a wild boar piglet.

Name origin

Swinub's name is a combination of swine and nub, referring to its lump-like nose.
