Rhyhorn (Japanese: サイホーン Sihorn) is a Ground/Rock-type Pokémon.

Biology

Physiology

Gender differences

A female has a shorter horn.

Special abilities

Rhyhorn most well known method of attack is to charge straight into things. A charging Rhyhorn can knock a trailer flying. Rhyhorn can also use various Rock and Ground attacks. Rhyhorn can also learn elemental attack, but these type of attacks are very strong when used by a Rhyhorn (save for the Elemental Fangs). Rhyhorn is one of the few Pokémon capable of learning Megahorn.

Behavior

One can say that Rhyhorn has rocks for brains because it can only remember one thing at a time. A perfect example of this is whenever a Rhyhorn starts charging, it'll forget why it did so in the first place.

Habitat

Rhyhorn live in open plains and mountain ranges.

Diet

Main article: Pokémon food

In the anime

At the start of EP051, Ash's Bulbasaur was battling a Rhyhorn belonging to a Hiker.

Rhyhorn was one of the Pokémon that was captured and cloned by Mewtwo in Mewtwo Strikes Back.

The first Pokémon that Ash and co. saw at Pinken Island in EP088 was a Rhyhorn.

A Rhyhorn that belonged to Noland was seen in AG135.

Pokédex entries

Pokémon Red and Blue / Pokémon LeafGreen
Its massive bones are 1000 times harder than human bones. It can easily knock a trailer flying.
Pokémon Yellow
A Pokémon with a one-track mind. Once it charges, it won't stop running until it falls asleep.
Pokémon Gold
It is inept at turning because of its four short legs. It can only charge and run in one direction.
Pokémon Silver
It doesn't care if there is anything in its way. It just charges and destroys all obstacles.
Pokémon Crystal
It can remember only one thing at a time. Once it starts rushing, it forgets why it started.
Pokémon Ruby
Rhyhorn runs in a straight line, smashing everything in its path. It is not bothered even if it rushes headlong into a block of steel. This Pokémon may feel some pain from the collision the next day, however.
Pokémon Sapphire
Rhyhorn's brain is very small. It is so dense, while on a run it forgets why it started running in the first place. It apparently remembers sometimes if it demolishes something.
Pokémon Emerald
Once it starts running, it doesn't stop. Its tiny brain makes it so stupid that it can't remember why it started running in the first place.
Pokémon FireRed
Strong, but not too bright, this Pokémon can shatter even a skyscraper with its charging tackles.
