Yawn (Japanese: あくび Yawn) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation III.

Effect

In the turn that Yawn is used, the only effect will be the user yawning at the target. At the end of the next turn, the target will fall asleep unless it gets affected by another status condition before or a status-protecting move is used (like Safeguard or Uproar).

If a Pokémon falls asleep through some other means while affected by Yawn, then wakes up, Yawn's effect proceeds as normal at the end of the next turn.

Yawn will fail immediately if the target is under a Substitute, any other major status condition, or when used against a Pokémon with Insomnia or Vital Spirit as its ability.
