Chikorita (Japanese: チコリータ Chicorita) is a Grass-type Pokémon. Along with Cyndaquil and Totodile, it is one of the three starter Pokémon available at the beginning of the Generation II games. It is also available in Pokémon Emerald as an award for catching the first 200 Pokémon in the Hoenn Pokédex.
Chikorita comes with the Ability Overgrow, which increases the power of Grass-type attacks by 50% once the Pokémon has less than one-third of its maximum HP.

In the anime
Chikorita was first seen in EP118. It was Casey's starting Pokémon. It evolved into Bayleef in EP161.
Ash captured a Chikorita in EP126. It has such high affections for Ash that comes to a few faults, such as refusing to be switched out for Pikachu. Ash's Chikorita evolved in EP199.
Silver also owns a Chikorita; it behaves much in the same way to him as Pikachu does to Ash, including traveling on his shoulder.
A Chikorita was a member of Team Go-Getters in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters out of the Gate!.
In the manga
In Pokémon Special, Chickorita is the last of the three starter Pokémon to get a trainer. It escapes Professor Elm and follows Crystal until she accepts it to her team. Crystal's Chickorita wears a star pendant. It later evolves into a Bayleaf to protect Crys from a Larvitar, then into Meganium during a fight with Lugia.
Other appearances
When released from a Pokéball, Chikorita unleashes a Razor Leaf that hits any opponent in its path.
Chikorita is also a Pokéfloat. It is one of the smallest and floats around Psyduck.
