Trivia
- By statistical average, Sunkern is the weakest Pokémon. However, it does have higher stats in some areas than other Pokémon, and a much greater movepool than others.
- In Generation II, Sunkern's sprite was green colored and different from the sprites in the later generations.
Origin
As its name indicates, it is based on a sunflower seed.
Name origin
Sunkern's name is a combination of sunflower and kernel. Its Japanese name may be a combination of 向日葵 himawari, sunflower, and the English word, nuts.
