It evolves from Slakoth starting at level 18 and evolves into Slaking starting at level 36.

Contents

Biology

Physiology

Vigoroth is a white, sloth-like Pokémon, with a teardrop-shaped tuft of red fur on its forehead. It has stubby, barely noticeable ears, two small, triangular visible teeth in each jaw, and large eyes encircled by brown rings. The two stripes on its back and maw are also brown in coloration. It arms are fairly long in proportion to its body, and its hands and feet are equipped with two sharp black claws. The underside of its hands and feet have circular red coloration, its rear also having a baboon-like patch of red. The fur on its chest, tail, and sides of its maw are shaggy.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Behavior

Vigoroth cannot keep still because of its extremely fast heartbeat. This causes much aggression and speed, unlike the Pokémon that evolves into it, Slakoth.

Habitat

Vigoroth live in forests. It appears to also be drawn towards colder climates as the Mystery Dungeon series places it in areas covered in ice.

Major appearances

Norman's Vigoroth appeared several times in the anime, the first being in There's no Place Like Hoenn. It also appeared in Love, Petalburg Style and in Balance of Power where it was used in a Gym battle against Ash. It defeated Ash's Torkoal due to its speed but the match against Pikachu ended in a draw due to it being paralyzed by Pikachu.

In The Garden of Eatin', a Snorlax was causing trouble for a man named Marcel by eating the bananas in his Slakoth Banana Garden. No one was able to stop it until one of the Slakoth in the garden evolved into Vigoroth and defeated Snorlax allowing Marcel to capture it.

Minor appearances

Several Vigoroth appeared in Zoroark: Master of Illusions, pursuing Zorua until they were driven away by Ash, Dawn, Brock, and their Pokémon, Infernape and Mamoswine.

Pokémon Adventures

Like in the games, a Vigoroth debuts in VS. Nuzleaf under the possession of the Petalburg Gym Leader Norman. who uses it as one of his most valued fighters. Its battling method mainly makes usage of its adroit speed, with which it often shoots the enemy's attacks back at them.
