Trivia

Origin

In particular, Spinarak shares coloring and appearance with the Happy Face Spider, an arachnid from Hawaii that seems to have a face on its abdomen.

Japanese believe that a spider can ensnare careless travelers.

Name origin

Spinarak's name is a combination of spinneret, which is where a spider excretes silk, and arachnid. Itomaru could be a combination of 糸 ito, thread, and 丸 maru, common historical name suffix for boys. The French name comes from mignon, meaning cute, and mygale, meaning mygalomorphae. The German name comes from web and arachnid.
