Trivia
Origin
Stoutland was based on a combination of a Shih Tzu and a Maltese with some characteristics from Yorkshire Terriers and Scottish Terriers. Its talent for rescuing humans in the mountains is similar to a St. Bernard's.
Name origin
Stoutland may be derived from the words "stout" (meaning bulky) and "land" (a reference to terriers, who have their name derived from the Latin terra meaning earth).
Its Japanese name may come from the Japanese word of muku meaning shaggy hair and shaggy dog, and rando, land.
