Battle Festa 2013 merchandise

The Battle Festa was a large-scale meeting designed to cater for all aspects of the TCG, hosting events that introduced players to the basics of the game, casual battles with various formats, as well as competitive tournaments. Two meetings were held towards the end of the year: the first at Intex Osaka, Osaka on December 15, 2013 and the second at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, Tokyo on December 23, 2013.

All attendees were given a Mirror Holofoil Helioptile promotional card bearing the event logo upon entry. Two promotional cards could be exchanged for Play Points accrued by participating in events at each venue, which included the main Victory Battle tournament, the Tag Battle, the Mission Battle, the One Day Battle, and the Combo Adventure. 3 Play Points could be redeemed for a Mirror Holofoil Gogoat promotional card, while 10 Play Points could be exchanged for an unnumbered Mirror Holofoil Tierno promotional card. Players competing in the main Victory Battle tournament could also earn an unnumbered Mirror Holofoil Muscle Band promotional card by reaching the 'Premier Stage', which required 4 consecutive wins at the initial 'Challenge Stage'. Winners of the grouped 4-player tournament held at the 'Premier Stage' would go on to the single-elimination 'Climax Stage', in which the top 3 players were awarded a new Victory Ring trophy card. The Victory Battle had two age categories: the Junior League, limited to elementary school students, and the Open League, which had no age restriction.

Other areas consisted of the Beginner's Set Battle, which offered a regular copy of 1 of the basic Energy cards at random to participants, a Mini Stage that hosted games of rock–paper–scissors and quizzes, and a Relaxation Space, where people could rest between events, take part in a survey to receive original Toyopet Pokémon merchandise, or see the Pikachu Car Exhibition. The Sales Corner sold both the latest products and the event exclusive Battle Festa Card Box (Japanese: エネルギーカード付きカードボックス バトルフェスタ Card Box: Battle Festa including Energy Card), which like recently released Xerneas & Yveltal Card Box, came packaged with 5 copies each of the nine basic Energy cards plus 5 promotional Trainer cards. The box itself features the Battle Festa key visual, consisting of the event logo and Pokémon Xerneas, Yveltal, Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie. People could also redeem an exclusive Battle Festa Original Deck Case (Japanese: オリジナルデッキケース) featuring Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja by presenting the How to Play manual included in copies of XY Beginning Sets, XY Beginning Sets for Girls, and their DX variants to attendants.

Spring Battle 2014 merchandise

Participating stores across Japan held Spring Battle tournaments between April 12 and 29, 2014. Hosted in partnership with the publication CoroCoro Ichiban!, these small-scale meetings included two events for people to challenge. One of these was the Tag Battle, a match involving 2-player teams that would attempt to achieve a 3-match winning streak. All participants were given a Pokémon Card Gym promotional pack; those achieving 3 consecutive wins were given an additional pack. Players achieving at least 1 win were given a certificate that could be shown at Pokémon Card Gym venues in order to earn a prize. The other event was the Mega Battle Deck Special Battle, which was structured like tournaments at larger-scale events. All players would begin at the 'Challenge Stage' (earning themselves a promotional pack in the process) and could advance to the 'Premier Stage' after their third consecutive win. The number of consecutive wins achieved at the 'Premier Stage' determined the top finishers. The top 5 players were given a ¥500 CoroCoro Ichiban! Original Tosho Card (Japanese: コロコロイチバン オリジナル図書カード) featuring characters from the X & Y chapter of the Pokémon Adventures manga and also had their names printed on the spine of a future issue of CoroCoro Ichiban!. Promoting the recently released M Charizard-EX Mega Battle Deck, players that Mega Evolved a Pokémon during a match were also given an original sticker sheet featuring Charizard and its Mega Evolutions. People who also showed staff a copy of the M Charizard-EX included in the deck were given an Original Mini Clear File (Japanese: オリジナルミニクリアファイル) for as long as stocks lasted.

Lizardon Mega Battle merchandise

The Lizardon Mega Battle was the first in a series of large-scale tournaments with a theme focusing on a single Pokémon. It takes inspiration from the original Lizardon Mega Battle held in Japan in 1998, the second official domestic tournament to be held. Tournaments were hosted at the Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama on the weekend of May 3-4, 2014, and at Intex Osaka, Osaka on the weekend of May 17-18, 2014.

People could participate in the main Lizardon Mega Battle event as well as a number of smaller side events on different days. The first day comprised the qualifying for the Lizardon Mega Battle event as well as the Triple Beat Battle and 5 on 5 Battle side events. The second day consisted of the Lizardon Mega Battle final round and the following side events: the Tag Battle, the Mega Charizard VS Battle, the One Day Battle, and the Gym Leader Challenge. All participants were given a Garchomp-EX promotional card featuring the event logo upon entry.

Lizardon Mega Battle participants could register for 1 of 2 leagues: the A League, limited to elementary school students, or the B League, open to those in junior high school and above. All competitors began at the 'Qualifying Block' phase and were put into groups of 4. Those with the most wins in a group would progress to a single-elimination tournament—the 'Qualifying Tournament' phase—and earn a promotional print of Protection Cube. The top 16 players at the culmination of this phase could progress to the finals on day 2, once again a single-elimination tournament. The top 3 players at the end of the event were awarded a Victory Ring trophy card based on their position.

The top 4 players in each league from each venue earned an invitation to play in the Lizardon Mega Battle Japan Championships, held at Pokémon Center Osaka on June 7 and 8, 2014. B League finalists competed on the first day, while those in the A League competed on day 2. The top 4 players of the finals in each league would earn an invitation to the 2014 World Championships, and the overall winners from each league were awarded a Mega Charizard trophy, inspired by the one awarded in the 1998 tournament.

Participants of the side events on day 1 could earn prizes by performing well—those who achieved 3 consecutive wins in the Triple Beat Battle were given a Blacksmith promotional card; teams that won in the 5 on 5 Battle were given a promotional print of Fire Energy featuring the event logo. On day 2, side event participants could earn Play Points and redeem them for exclusive cards. Those earning 3 Play Points could redeem them for a Binacle promotional card; those earning 7 Play Points could redeem them for a Greninja promotional card.

Pop-up Pokémon Stores present at each venue offered the latest products as well as some exclusive merchandise to commemorate the event. The Lizardon Mega Battle Rubber Playmat (Japanese: ラバープレイマット 「リザードンメガバトル」) could be purchased here or won by placing in the top 5 of the Mega Charizard VS Battle. An Original Deck Case (Japanese: オリジナルデッキケース) featuring Mega Charizard could be received in exchange for showing Strongest Battle Master Guides enclosed in copies of M Charizard-EX Mega Battle Decks to attendants.

Summer Battle 2014 merchandise

Participating stores across Japan held Summer Battle events in partnership with CoroCoro Ichiban! on select days between July 6 and 21, 2014. Each of these events held two match styles across the day they were hosted, starting with the Tag Battle, which involved 2-player teams. All participants were given a Pokémon Card Gym promotional pack, while those achieving 3 consecutive wins were given an additional pack. Players achieving at least 1 win were given a certificate that could be shown to staff at Pokémon Card Gym venues and earn them an additional prize. The second match style was the Fighting Deck Special Battle, where players would attempt to achieve as many straight wins as possible. All players began at the 'Challenge Stage' and would go onto the 'Premier Stage' after 3 consecutive wins. The number of consecutive wins achieved at the 'Premier Stage' determined the top finishers. All players of this match style were also given a promotional pack for participating. The top 5 players were given a ¥500 CoroCoro Ichiban! Original Tosho Card (Japanese: コロコロイチバン オリジナル図書カード) and had their name printed on the spine of an upcoming issue of CoroCoro Ichiban!. The Fighting Deck Special Battle also promoted the recently released Mega Lucario Fighting Box—players using a Fighting-type Pokémon in their deck during a match were given a sticker sheet featuring various Pokémon that appear in the Rising Fist expansion. People who showed the long card box from the Mega Lucario Fighting Box to staff were also given an Original Mini Clear File (Japanese: オリジナルミニクリアファイル) while stocks lasted.

Autumn Battle 2014 merchandise

Participating stores across Japan held Autumn Battle events in partnership with CoroCoro Ichiban! between October 4 and 26, 2014. Each event began with the Tag Battle, which involved 2-player teams. All participants were given a Pokémon Card Gym promotional pack, while those achieving 3 consecutive wins were given an additional pack. Players achieving at least 1 win were given a certificate that could be shown to staff at Pokémon Card Gym venues and the upcoming Battle Festa 2014 in order to earn an additional prize. Following the Tag Battle was the Phantom & Metal Deck Special Battle. Players using cards from the recently released Phantom Gate expansion or Hyper Metal Chain Deck were given 1 of 2 stickers featuring art from the two products. People showing a copy of the Hyper Metal Chain Deck to staff were also given 1 of 2 Original Mini Clear Files (Japanese: オリジナルミニクリアファイル) while stocks lasted.

More promotional cards were distributed as part of the event: players participating in the main Victory Battle Gym MIX tournament could earn an unnumbered promotional print of Robo Substitute by reaching the 'Second Stage', which required 2 consecutive wins at the initial 'First Stage'. A further 3 consecutive wins at the 'Second Stage' would see players progress to the 'Climax Stage', in which players would compete in a single-elimination tournament to determine an overall winner. Those placing in the top 3 would earn Victory Ring promotional cards. Players could also earn Play Points by participating in the Victory Battle Gym MIX event, as well as the 3 on 3 Battle, the Tag Battle, the One Day Battle, and the Minigame Corner side events. Players could exchange any Play Points they accumulated for prizes: 3 Play Points could be redeemed for a Sylveon promotional card, while 12 Play Points could be redeemed for a 2-card set including Absol-EX and M Absol-EX.

Venues with the exception of the Kumamoto event included a Mini Stage area that hosted Pokémon quizzes and variety performances. Tomoaki Imakuni was a special guest at the Tokyo venue sporting his Slowpoke costume and Pokémon Card Man, a character featured in Pokémon Get TV, was a special guest at the Shizuoka venue. All venues included a merchandise area where people could purchase exclusive items. These included a Battle Festa 2014 Slide Card Box (Japanese: スライドカードボックス バトルフェスタ2014) and a Battle Festa 2014 Limited Memorial Pin (Japanese: バトルフェスタ2014 開催記念限定ピンズ). Both items primarily feature mascots Pikachu, Gengar, and Mega Lucario.

Winter Battle 2015 merchandise

Participating stores across Japan held Winter Battle tournaments between January 10 and 25, 2015 in partnership with CoroCoro Ichiban!. Each event hosted two match types, starting with the Team Magma VS Team Aqua Tag Battle, which divided pairs of participants into teams representing Team Aqua and Team Magma. Each tag pair were given a Pokémon Card Gym promotional pack for participating, while pairs achieving 3 consecutive wins were given an additional pack. Pairs achieving at least 1 win were given a certificate that could be shown to staff at Pokémon Card Gym venues and earn them an additional prize. Pairs representing the team with the most wins were given a further promotional pack. The second match type was the 3 on 3 Special Battle, which consisted of 3 team members playing 3 concurrent single matches against another team of 3 players. In the event of a tie, a match won by the team leader would denote the winning team. All teams began at the 'Challenge Stage' and would go onto the 'Premier Stage' after 2 team wins. The number of consecutive team wins achieved at the 'Premier Stage' determined the top finishers. All players of this match style were given a promotional pack for participating. The team finishing first were given a ¥500 CoroCoro Ichiban! Original Tosho Card (Japanese: コロコロイチバン オリジナル図書カード) and had their names printed on the spine of an upcoming issue of CoroCoro Ichiban!. Second place teams were given 2 packs each of Gaia Volcano and Tidal Storm, while those finishing in third were given 1 Gaia Volcano and Tidal Storm booster pack each. Players using a Fighting-type or Water-type Pokémon at any point during this match type were given a sticker sheet featuring Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. People who also showed staff a Pokémon with an Ancient Trait were given an Original Mini Clear File (Japanese: オリジナルミニクリアファイル) for as long as stocks lasted.

M Rayquaza-EX Mega Battle Deck

Main article: M Rayquaza-EX Mega Battle Deck (TCG)

Following on from the trend established in Wild Blaze and the release of numerous Charizard cards, Emerald Break continues this with the Legendary Sky High Pokémon Rayquaza. Both it and its Mega Evolved form are included in the main expansion as Colorless-type Pokémon, and both are featured as Dragon-type Pokémon in the accompanying M Rayquaza-EX Mega Battle Deck (Japanese: メガバトルデッキ60 メガレックウザEX), released on March 14, 2015. In addition to the cards included, the deck also comes with damage and status counters, a play mat, a coin, how to play instructions, and a Strongest Battle Master Guide.

Sleeves: Each pack contains 32 card sleeves.

The Mega Rayquaza Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド メガレックウザ Deck Shield: Mega Rayquaza) feature the Sky High Pokémon rising through the air amidst a meteor shower.
The Sleeping Pikachu Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド おねむりピカチュウ Deck Shield: Sleeping Pikachu) feature the Mouse Pokémon contently asleep under the stars. These sleeves could only be purchased from Pokémon Centers.
The Goomy's Stuff Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド ヌメラだもの。 Deck Shield: Numera's Stuff.) feature a fired-up Goomy twirling a Focus Band around one of its horns. This is one of the three Goomy with different personality traits that were used on items available during a Pokémon Center campaign that began on February 7, 2015. These sleeves were also later exclusive to Pokémon Centers. Many items in the initial merchandise campaign were subsequently available overseas in the Pokémon Center We're Goomy Collection from January 2016.
The Shelter from the Rain Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド 雨やどり Deck Shield: Shelter from the Rain) feature a Tomokazu Komiya illustration of numerous Pokémon taking refuge from the rain only to be squished together by a Snorlax seeking shelter. These sleeves could only be purchased from Pokémon Centers.
The Dragonite Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド カイリュー Deck Shield: Kairyu) feature a Dragonite taking a thrilled Bagon on a flight above a field of flowers. An Altaria accompanies them in the background. The illustration used on these sleeves was drawn by Kanako Eo and were exclusive to Pokémon Centers.
