User:Meeper12346/"Forgotten" Trainer Battles

This article contains fan speculation.
There is no solid evidence for or against some parts of this article.

There are many NPCs in Pokémon that do not serve much of a role beyond progressing the plot or handing the player an item. As a battle enjoyer myself, I think that's a shame! Here are some battles I cooked up for a few of these oft-neglected Trainers, with quotes along with the point in the story you'd face them at!

Kanto

Professor Oak

Professor Oak already has data for a battle in Generation I, so there's little speculation to be done here. He would serve as a "superboss" in the same vein as Red from Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal, able to be challenged after beating the Champion and using the starter left behind at the lab. In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, he can be rematched with a more powerful team after completing the Sevii Islands, accepting a rematch after beating the Indigo League. In Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, he can be battled once per day after defeating Red and gives a Gold Bottle Cap after being defeated.

For his rematch team in FireRed and LeafGreen, he includes the unobtainable Johto first partner Pokémon, as well as Murkrow, who parallels Agatha's Misdreavus, being two version-exclusive Johto Pokémon obtainable on the Sevii Islands. Murkrow is also only obtainable in Kanto in the Generation II games. The three Johto first partner Pokémon reference Oak's connection to Johto and to imply that there is a vast world waiting to be explored just beyond the Kanto region. Finally, his ace, Nidoking, references the opening cutscene, later confirmed to be Oak battling against Agatha.

His team in Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! is similar to his FireRed and LeafGreen rematch team, though with Alolan Persian in place of Murkrow, and Kangaskhan in place of the Johto first partner Pokémon. Kangaskhan's inclusion is a reference to his Adventures counterpart.

Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow

Professor Oak has one Full Restore per Pokémon, using it 12.5% of the time if their HP falls below 20%.

Paldea

Briar

Briar's team is composed of Paradox Pokémon she had captured after travelling inside Area Zero with the player, as well as Cyclizar, Heath's partner Pokémon; Milotic, referencing the Milotic battle in Crystal Pool; Carbink, referencing the plethora of Carbink found in the Area Zero Underdepths and her ace Pokémon, Malamar, who's exclusive to the Terarium, matches her color scheme and is a perfect demonstration of the potential of the Stellar Tera Type, gaining a boost each time it uses Tera Blast thanks to its Contrary ability.

She can be faced after being invited to the League Club Room.
