STAB status of Bite

Please note that in RBY, Bite is Normal, so it is marked as a STAB move, while in later games it is Dark, so it's marked as STAB for an evolution (in this case - Umbreon). User142 (Talk) 16:27, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Pokémon XD

Hey, does anyone have XD? There are evolution items for Umbreon and Espeon in that game instead of Happiness evolutions. Does anyone know what they are? They should problably be listed here. --Zeta 19:06, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

I think they were Sun Shard (Espeon) and Moon Shard (Umbreon) Xanhawk

Generation II evolutions

Say, in XD, does Eevee need to hold the Sun/Moon shard and level up to evolve? or simply be exposed to them like a stone? MK 15:34, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Hold and level up. Tom Temprotran 09:36, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Does it also require happiness to be maxed? So many sites have conflicting information regarding them in XD. MK 13:07, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
No, just stick it on and level up. --Argy 18:46, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
All you need is to have the shard with you. Eevee doesn't have to be holding it. -Happy Mask Man 19:18, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Wrong, Eevee does have to be holding the shard to evolve. Jake30502 15:03, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Is the items Sun and Moon Shard capable of veing transferred into R/S/FR/LG/E? ht14 03:15, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
No. --ケンジガール 03:16, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Have you tried it though? I wonder why not though...do you have to evolve your Eevee when you get the item? ht14 02:07, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

The shards are Key Items. Eevee can't hold it. About the happiness, yes it needs to be maxed; but it's already maxed at the beginning of the game.--Nostalgia 00:52, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Do The Eeveelutions Still Have A High Stat?

Are The Eeveelutions Still Following The Stats Where A Certain Evolution Has The Highest Stat Compared To The Family? For Example, Vapoureon Has The Highest HP Stat Tha All Of The Rest; Jolteon Has The Highest Speed Stat Than The Others. - Tesh -

Look at their base stats. They're the same totals, they're just different as far as focus, so yes, all of them have one stat higher than the rest. --TTEchidna 04:35, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
... except there's six stats and seven Eeveelutions, meaning two had to specialize in the same thing. Apparently, it's the Special Attack ones. --Pie ~ 05:26, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Which is what I meant by focus, since although Espeon and Glaceon both have the 130 in Special Attack, 95 in Special Defense, and 65 in HP, Attack, Defense, and Speed does differ. So really, if they do make nine more Eeveelutions, many will share the strongest stats, but there'd still be room for base stat variance. --TTEchidna 00:48, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Name origin - Eon

"Eon also means a very long time, which is how long it takes for Eevee to evolve without the aid of an evolutionary stone"

but in Generation I Eevee cannot evolve without stones! can I remove this sentence? --Valepert 21:02, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

But that's ONLY in GenI. Why remove it? Don't remove it, as it explains why it's called "Eon". >< Tina 21:05, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Even then, it doesn't take an eon to evolve without a stone. You can have a level 2 Espeon or Umbreon. TTEchidna 22:54, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Thinking about it eon could refer to the amount of time it takes a regular species to evolve, and since Eevee is so adaptable it could be that it represents eons of evolution (as it has mastered in some way). If you can make sense of that it may help. --Woodland:M 20:29, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Don't forget that Pokemon in the games have a level cap. Theoretically, if there were no level caps Eevee would evolve eventually. User: Kyle95 December 20, 2008 (UTC)

Palindromes

How many palindrome pokémon are there? I only know of two, Eevee and Girafarig. If those are the only two, might their trivia take note of the other?

Also, I joined just to ask the above question. Why doesn't bulbapedia allow anon to edit? Zeek Aran 05:41, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Also also, can someone post in my user page so my name turns blue? It bothers me. Another question, why doesn't bulbapedia allow User page edits? I get "You do not have permission to edit pages in the User namespace." Zeek Aran 05:44, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

1. 3 Pokémon names are palindromes (Eevee, Girafarig and Ho-oh)

2. Use Proper GrAmmAr.

Is that all? Do you get on to everyone who doesn't capitalize pokémon or site names? Zeek Aran 05:55, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
It just makes it proper, Pokémon is a name of a Tv show (Or something), and Bulbapedia is a name of a site, Both being N-O-U-N-S (Nouns). --Force Fire 05:57, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Pokémon is the name of a manga, series of video games, and anime. It's also the type of creatures in those. One doesn't call a scarab a type of Beetle, but a beetle, so I thought pokémon would sound proper enough. You don't capitalize nouns. You capitalize PROPER nouns. Zeek Aran 06:02, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
I don't really get it, either... but it's official policy that Pokémon is capitalized. It doesn't matter as much on talk pages as in the main namespace, but like with other sorts of proper grammar, it makes it look more like you know what you're doing. --Martonimos((Talk)) 06:26, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
It's Pokémon because it IS a proper noun. Why? It's a species of imaginary creatures. Imaginary. Name. Name. Proper Noun. It's the Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links07:05 4 Jun 2008

I see, I now have the power to make people go of-topic..... And by the way, Nouns do need to be capital too, A noun is A place (London), a name (Andrew) and A thing (Ball, Not really necessary to capitilize though) --Force Fire talk 15:07, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Evolving into Leafeon and Glaceon

I thought when an you want to evolve Eevee into Leafeon or Glaceon, you had to be in the same patch of grass as the Mossy Rock or Frosty Rock. The information on doing so, at least in Eevee's article, says you just have to be in Eterna Forest or Route 217 to do it. So, which one is true? Superbreeder What's up? 00:09, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Level Up Evolutions

Does anyone know what happens if you level up a happy Eevee in (say) Eterna Forest during the day? Does the location or happiness evolution take precidence? In this example, would you get a Leafeon or an Espeon? I don't have the games so I can't test it. Werdnae 02:49, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

That is a pickle. I guess it would make sense to say the evolutionary path would be chosen at random with a 50/50 chance of getting Leafeon or Espeon.Bttsstewart 04:55, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Bttsstewart

So does this mean that the same rule applies to Route 217, where Glaceon evolves? --Charmander -(talk or stalk!) 03:43, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Because if it is, that information should be added to the page. --Charmander -(talk or stalk!) 03:47, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, if you evolve your Eevee OUTSIDE on Route 217, it will become a Glaceon. Indoors (Rare Candy inside a house when happiness is max'd) it takes the Espeon/Umbreon route. Same with Eterna Forest (the forest area where Moss Rock is) vs the exterior area accessed via Cut. TTEchidna 18:33, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

But this dosn't awnser what will happen if said eevee was also holding a evolutionary stone. We will test this.--Mtn otter We are the Void 01:28, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

It will evolve into Leafeon/Glaceon, because holding an evolutionary stone DOES NOT activate the stone when battling.--ForceFire 01:32, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Yes. But they do activate upon level up, which two types of it's evolution require, and the other one can be done with or with out it.--Mtn otter We are the Void 01:48, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Leveling up doesn't activate a held evo stone - I just tested with a fire stone on an Eevee in Pt. Because of this it will take the location/time evolution upon level up, even if an Evo stone is held. Werdnae (talk) 04:51, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

I stuck an Eevee in the Daycare with a Buneary that knew Endure and the Eevee that hatched from the eggs knew Endure too. Um... no. It can be assumed that it doesn't have evolutions of those types by reading which types it CAN evolve into. Including that as trivia would be like including that that Wormadam doesn't have a fire/water/ice/etc. cloak. --AndyPKMN 20:05, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

If it isn't, let me know and I'll facepalm myself....) Would Eevee become Espeon or Umbreon???Eeveewithwings123 (talk) 00:36, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

If it's in the middle of the actual evolve sequence when the time changes, then won't switch once the animation's started, it'll use the former time. I'd be interested to know precisely where in the sequence it actually checks the time, I'd guess it's when the battle ends and it checks to see whether any Pokémon have met the conditions to evolve. Which would mean that once it's in the evolve screen, it's already decided.
Also, the change between day and night is different depending on what Generation game you're playing and what season it is (for Gen V). Full details can be found on our time page. Werdnae (talk) 03:03, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

"Eievui" - what on earth?!

Um, for the Japanese name of Eevee to be romanized as "Eievui" it would literally have to be エイエヴイ; last time I checked it was イーブイ, which romanizes as "iivui" (or "īvui", as Wikipedia standards would like for us to believe). Can anyone explain to me why it's so incredibly, blatantly wrong? -Wohdin (talk) 02:12, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

That is the romanization they use in the official merchandise. So that's what we use here. You can see it used here. Crystal Talian 03:16, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
Also, that's Hepburn standards, not Wikipedia standards. Hepburn is the typical way of phonetic romanization. --SnorlaxMonster 06:17, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Evolution precedence

It has been established that location-based Eeveelutions take precedence over those with other level-up requirements. My question is: would an Eevee with high friendship as well as 2 Affection hearts and a Fairy-type move always only attempt to evolve into Sylveon upon leveling up, or is there maybe a 50-50 chance that it might instead become Espeon or Umbreon (depending on time of day)? My guess is that it might only become Espeon or Umbreon if the criteria for Eevee to become Sylveon are not present because it would be the more readily changeable condition; making a Pokémon forget a move is easier to accomplish than dragging down its friendship rating, right? I♥Togetic (talk) 09:31, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

It would seem that Sylveon takes precedence over Espeon/Umbreon from several accounts I've heard while looking into this of people trying to get Sylveon having Eevee trying to evolve into Espeon/Umbreon until a fairy-type move is learned, which then causes Eevee to become Sylveon on the next level. Evolution precedence information should be added to the article.Dancinswords (talk) 06:52, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

Charm and Covet Egg moves

Should Charm and Covet even be in the Egg Moves section. Eevee learns them via lv up, why put those moves in the egg move section? Yamitora1 (talk) 09:06, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Normally Pokémon hatch with just their base moves, but Egg moves are moves that can potentially be passed down from their parents. Yes Eevee can learn Covet and Charm through level up, but they can also be passed down to offspring despite them not being starting moves. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 09:17, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
I was just wondering since most of the other articles don't usually list egg moves if they're in the lv up section. Yamitora1 (talk) 10:23, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
They are listed if those moves only need one parent instead of both. A move is not an egg move if both parents are required to know the move for it to be passed down. Since Eevee only needs one parent to have those moves passed down, it's an egg move on top of being a level-up move. Kai * the Arc Toraph 13:42, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Fraudulent Mega Eevee Description for article in Bing Search

So I did a Bing Search for Mega Eevee, just to see some fan art of what it would look like. The first website/article listed is this one, however the description caption reads as follows.

The description is indicating Eevee actually has at least one, version exclusive Mega Evolution. Why is this showing up, did someone put hidden code into the article that Bing is picking up?

Anyways, I thought I would bring it up so that I could get a answer, and the Admin staff could take preventative action, maybe send Bing a note to fix it. I checked the same search on Google, and it does not show the fraudulent description. Yamitora1 (talk) 00:42, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Plausible Trivia?

Would the following thought, better written, qualify as fan speculation, or valid trivia?

Eevee is similar the given name 'Eve'. The given name 'Eve' is 'Chava' [חַוָּה] in the original Hebrew. The root word from which 'Chava' is constructed can mean 'to give breath' or 'to give life' in Biblical Hebrew. This plausibly relates to the many pokemon into which Eevee can breath life. - unsigned comment from ABZB (talkcontribs)

Error in Trivia!

The Trivia on Eevee's page claims that "Eevee and Feebas are the only Pokémon that can evolve into a single stage through multiple methods in the core series." This is false, because the trivia entry goes on to explain that in Eevee's case it is referring to the Sun Shard and Moon Shard found in Pokémon XD, and Pokémon XD is not part of the core series. Poryhedron (talk) 23:46, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

Good point, the "core series" part may be where the mistake lies. The rest could be a legitimate claim. C.Wallace (Talk|Contribs) 06:32, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
Well, if you alter the trivia to allow for side series, then lots of other pokémon become eligible for the distinction thanks to the Mystery Dungeon series. Poryhedron (talk) 06:47, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Shouldn't the mystery dungeon bit in the biology be in the trivia section?-- --Handmaiden 101 (tAlk) 19:50, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Studio Ghibli a Possible origin for Eevee

I know that if someone references pop culture as a pokemon origin in the biology section it will get removed due to the legal implications/speculation. However, This topic has been brought up alot in Japanese forums in that Eevee shares many similarites with the Studio Ghibli Fox squirrel which debuted in 1984.

Here is a link comparing Teto the Fox Squirrel(1984) to Eevee(1996): Eevee compared to Fox Squirrel Higher Resolution

They both share the same body type: standard quadruped build, mane, large ears, and fluffy tail.

What makes this coincidence special is the creator of this character is none other than Hayao Miyazaki. He is venerated in Japan as one of the greatest animators who ever lived. Foreign critics have given him the moniker "The Japanese Walt Disney". Source

Teto the fox squirrel(kitsunerisu/キツネリス) debuted in Studio Ghibi's first ever movie production "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind". This movie marked the creation of Studio Ghibli. This animation studio has been cited as on of the most important forces/inspiration regarding anime and pop culture. This creature is said to be based on fennec fox, much like Eevee is speculated to be. Source

I brought this up in your forums before here is the link to the thread: Link to thread

I apologize for disturbing bulbagarden staff, but this reference to pop culture seems too blatant considering how Hayao Miyazaki is viewed as in Japan.

Plastro (talk) 19:41, 13 August 2015 (UTC)Plastro

It's hard for most Westerners (i.e., editors here) to truly appreciate whatever fame Miyazaki has in Japan; moreso, what fame Nausicaa and/or Teto may have. That is, it'd be much easier if you could just find some source that confirms they inspired Eevee. (I'm not suggesting such a source exists (or doesn't) currently, only that it would help.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:53, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
I tried perusing official sources from Gamefreak(interviews/transcripts) only to find nothing other than fan/forum discussion regarding the subject of Eevee. It seems Gamefreak is secretive about their design process which is typical of most Japanese companies; I just wanted to bring up the similarities between Eevee and Miyazaki's Fox Squirrel. This is due to Teto being modeled after Fennec fox/vulpines which would vindicate fan speculation that Eevee and its variants are indeed vulpine inspired. Unfortunately, as I cannot find concrete information from official sources the thesis I typed above does not meet Bulbapedia's standard of sourcing. I am sorry for taking up your time. Eevee is a tanuki?

I noticed that the Origin section of Eevee's page lists it as being based off of a tanuki. How? Eevee doesn't even remotely resemble one. --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 01:11, 26 September 2015 (UTC)

I agree with this. Eevee only resembles one through the tail, which isn't even striped. I'll remove the trivia now. Odieboy's are very nutritional for your health. | Come and sit by the fire and talk to me! 16:19, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Tickle

I happened to find a wild Eevee that knows Tickle. It was a hidden Pokemon in my Omega Ruby game, but when I checked, Tickle can only be legitimately learned by Eevee as an Egg move. How is this possible? MrCoolKid6780 (talk) 16:30, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Hidden Pokémon can have egg moves, that's nothing abnormal. Litwick96 16:55, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Slight ambiguity on how evolution works

If a post-Gen6 Eevee has high Friendship, knows a Fairy-type move, and has two or more hearts in Pokerifure and levels up, not near a moss or ice rock, will the choice between Sylveon and Umbreon/Espeon be random? Satorukun0530 (talk) 05:32, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Mandarin Chinese names of Eeveelutions

Hi all, not sure if this is the best place to write this or if I should write on the page for each individual Eeveelution. The Mandarin names of all Eeveelutions end in -伊布, not -精靈 as is currently written.

Vaporeon is 水伊布 (水 is water, 伊布 is Eevee and also the suffix for all Eeveelutions)

Jolteon is 雷伊布 (雷 is thunder, 伊布 is Eevee and also the suffix for all Eeveelutions)

Flareon is 火伊布 (火 is fire, 伊布 is Eevee and also the suffix for all Eeveelutions)

Espeon is 太陽伊布 (太陽 is sun, 伊布 is Eevee and also the suffix for all Eeveelutions)

Umbreon is 月亮伊布 (月亮 is moon, 伊布 is Eevee and also the suffix for all Eeveelutions)

Leafeon is 葉伊布 (葉 is leaf, 伊布 is Eevee and also the suffix for all Eeveelutions)

Glaceon is 冰伊布 (冰 is ice, 伊布 is Eevee and also the suffix for all Eeveelutions)

Sylveon is 仙子伊布 (仙子 is fairy, 伊布 is Eevee and also the suffix for all Eeveelutions)

Eevee's inspiration...

Hello all! I've recently been looking onto some mythology from around the world, and upon further research, I came across a Scandinavian legend that describes of a creature very similar to Eevee. It is known as the Gulon. From the description, it is basically a hodgepodge of various creatures, usually described as being the size and shape of a dog, with some cat like features such as the head, ears, and claws. It also supposedly has a thick coat of shaggy brown fur and a tail resembling that of a fox. Eevee itself is a small creature physically resembling a kitten, but possesses minor traits (tail and fur) from foxes and dogs as well. What do you think? Does it sound plausible enough? Pika Pika Pi~!! (talk) 21:36, 19 June 2018 (UTC)

Eevee's heart tail.

According to the Japanese sources for Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, the heart-tailed Eevee is exclusive to the player's starter Eevee (if picked female). They do said this trait isn't found on other female Eevee, making it an individual variant Pokémon. Special Stage Route (pit stop) 09:26, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

Affection + Friendship

I've heard that these two stats where merged in generation VIII. That's why Eevee's evolution method would change.--Rocket Grunt (Report To Me) 00:18, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

"Pokémon that are not part of an evolutionary line"

Why is Eevee even in this category? Pseudonym (talk) 15:01, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

EDIT: I realized the answer, never mind.

Heart-Tailed Eevee

I saw an Eevee with a heart on its tail and it's so cute!!! But why does it have a heart on its tail? I saw this in Pokemon Go, and I never saw anything like this in Ultra sun and Ultra Moon even though they use the same models as Pokemon go does. We might want to add it into this article if we find out. Mario60866 (talk) 09:04, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

"The marking on the tip of a female Partner Eevee's tail is heart-shaped. Before Pokémon Sword and Shield, this trait was unique and wasn't found on other female Eevee. In Pokémon Sword and Shield and later Pokémon GO updates, the unique tail pattern is present on all female Eevee as a true gender difference."

Pokemon Legends: Arceus

In terms of the location of Eevee in the game, there is no information as of now of Eevee's location in this game on Bulbapedia.

As far as I am aware in terms of personal experience with the game and checking YouTube for answers as well, Eevee seems to be mainly available at Horseshoe Plains. Keeree1686 (talk) 23:55, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

Trivia about evolution

The trivia says "Eevee is the only Pokémon capable of evolving further that cannot evolve into a Pokémon it shares at least one type with, though Azurill shared this trait prior to it and Marill gaining the Fairy-type in Generation VI." - I don't think that's true, since Cubone (Ground) can evolve into Alolan Marowak (Fire/Ghost). Or does that not count? - unsigned comment from Elchar (talkcontribs)

It's not that there's *a* possible evolution that doesn't share the type, it's that none of the possible evolutions share the type. glikglak
Could this be written in a simpler way then? Like: "Eevee is the only Pokémon that cannot keep any of its types when it evolves".--Rocket Grunt 19:53, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
"Eevee is the only unevolved Pokémon that cannot evolve into a Pokémon it shares at least one type with, although Azurill shared this trait prior to it and Marill gaining the Fairy-type in Generation VI."
"Eevee is the only unevolved Pokémon in which none of its evolutions share any types with it, although Azurill also had this trait prior to it and Marill gaining the Fairy-type in Generation VI."

I think I prefer the former. Landfish7 23:48, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
I think the former still does not exclude Pokémon who cannot evolve at all. Technically, Kangaskhan also is an unevolved Pokémon that cannot evolve into a Pokémon it shares at least one type with. TRG's suggestion seems to be simple; "Eevee is the only Pokémon to share no type with any of its evolutions" also is a possibility; I also think the current wording is fine.
