OMG!!!

I'm finally able to edit pages and participate in talk pages. How do I insert templates? Can an Admin teach me? SeanWheeler 01:09, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

that text on the bottom...

Sorry about that bunch of gibberish at the bottom. I'm trying to make a party template. SeanWheeler 15:56, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Please note

You're supposed to edit your page only once a day.. server's not doing too well lately, and we gotta cut down on the unnecessary stuff. ▫▪Ťïňắ 16:04, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

as per the current policy, your page has been protected in regards to how many times you over-edited your page, which was 4 times, which means 4 days. also, even outside of the current policy, you went over the standard userspace policy, so be aware of that. -- MAGNEDETH 16:57, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Sorry

I apologize for over editing. I use 2 computers. Mom's computer, and my wii. Mike told me to take a break from the computer so I continued making the template on my Wii. That is a reason for one of the edits.SeanWheeler 23:07, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Countdown

Only 3 days left until I could edit my page and finish my party template.SeanWheeler 13:52, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Please...

You've been making too many edits to the User talk: namespace lately. Please take your conversations to the forums, a chatroom, e-mail, an IM service, or something similar, as that many edits will slow down the server. --▫▪Ťïňắ 16:12, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Keep in mind this also applies to posting on talk pages unrelated to helping the article... if you want to discuss the subject, go to the forums please. Talk pages are for discussing how to improve the page. ▫▪Ťïňắ 16:12, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Another warning about this... please do not just go on talk pages to talk about the subject. Talk pages are for discussing how to help the article. And please don't reply to old discussions (usually around... 4 months+ old?). D: ▫▪Ťïňắ 00:45, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Spam

Ok, so, stuff like this and this are classified as spam and we don't really tolerate it here. We're here to contribute to the more important stuff of Pokémon, not talking to others like that. If you want to do so, you can go to the forums and talk to them about that stuff there if they wish to allow you to do so, however, just make sure that the spam stuff stays off the user/talk pages. --Psyライダー 21:16, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

What was I advertising?--SeanWheeler 00:14, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Spam by what BP describes, mass editing to other people's talk pages or even to regular talk pages with no helpful intention other than pointless messages. Basically, take your non-BP stuff off of the site and to the forums...--Psyライダー 01:40, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Filter keys

I was editing my user page today and when I was holding the Shift Key for too long and a window popped up asking me to shift to filter keys. I hit cancel but every key acted like I was still holding shift. The letters became uppercase. The numbers became symbols, ='s became +'s, etc. But when I turned filter keys on, the keys did nothing but beep. I tried to find a way to turn off the EVIL filter key function but nothing work until the computer is off. What is filter keys and what is it's purpose?--SeanWheeler 22:22, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Party template problem

On my userpage I just edited, I had problems with my template, I was comparing it to Blue's party when he's Champion and when Bulbasaur was picked and my party was lopsided, instead of the template having having the usual 2 rows with 3 Pokemon across, I got 2 columns of Pokemon with 2 on the left and 4 on the right with Paras centered a little and letters in the empty space. Does anyone know how the glitch is happening and how to fix it? P.S. When looking for the errors, preview, DON'T SAVE, because it's problably illegal to edit someone else's userpage. Once you found the problem, tell me. Only admins and experianced users can fulfill this request. --SeanWheeler 23:35, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

a few pipes were missing, as was one equals sign, resulting in the template only actually seeing three Pokémon: the column of two on the left, the column of four on the right and the one down the bottom, and they were Pokémon #1, 3 and 6, so it had only the parameter name for the other three. The fixed code is commented out after this. Werdnae (talk) 00:41, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, Werdnae!--SeanWheeler 21:19, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

YOU.

NO. Removing Hoenn Dex numbers of Pokémon which are not in the main Hoenn dex is NOT TOLERATED. Do not ever do that again. I'm serious. NOTE SERIOUS TYPEFACE. TTEchidna 06:22, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

I did it not to vandalise anything, but because it confuses people. They even contradict themselves by having a note saying "does not appear in Pokédex. What are the sinnoh dex numbers of post national dex pokémon when you hack into the game and made those Pokémon appear early or use the walk through walls cheat to go to post national dex places without the national dex? To make up for it, could I make a page called list of Pokémon not in the Hoenn dex? It could list the hacked Hoenn dex numbers.--SeanWheeler 00:52, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
There is no data for post-ndex Sinnoh Pokémon.. but there is in RSE. It's only available via hacking, but it's there. In DPPt, if you manage to get something not in the Sinnoh Dex and you don't have the National Dex yet the number shows up as question marks. HOWEVER! In the Hoenn games, if you manage to get a non-Hoenn Dex Pokémon without the Ndex... you see the number displayed on pages.
Does that make any sense to you? :/ ▫▪Ťïňắ 01:02, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Catch a Pokémon from the wild by hacking in Gen IV that's not in the local regional dex, before getting the National Dex. It'll register as #000 in all cases. In Hoenn, however, the Pokémon will register as #203-386, depending on where it falls in National Dex order. Same happens in Kanto, only the Kanto Dex is the National Dex, so there.
The Pokémon does not appear in the listing, yes, but the number is there, like it or not. TTEchidna 01:11, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Here's an example!

clefairy.png

Notice how it's #233. This number does not appear unless you catch it from the wild, unlike in Gen IV, where the out-of-dexers register as #000. There may have been intention to have these Pokémon display prior to release, though I have no idea. Either way, the number is official, it's from the games, it's staying. Privileges revoked

Your failure to listen to these warnings has resulted in your userspace privileges being taken away. Your privileges may be returned in time if you help Bulbapedia grow by contributing to the mainspace. Please, next time listen to us. ---- MAGNEDETH 00:10, 15 April 2010 (UTC) I need more research to edit the mainspace, otherwise I might accidently put up something that's fan speculation.--SeanWheeler 01:06, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

What does that have to do with editing your page? Just don't put up your opinions or speculation on mainspace pages and you'll be okay. >_>
... or you know, read policy pages... ▫▪Ťïňắ 01:10, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

I have been contributing to th mainspace. Why is my page still protected? I'm still helping Bulbapedia aren't I? SeanWheeler 15:15, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Forum discussions

Okay, so you have been warned many times before about posting forum-type discussions on several talk pages. Bulbapedia is for contributing to stuff on Pokémon. If you want to continue your forum-type discussions, please go use our forums and talk about that kind of stuff instead of ignoring and posting your forums-talks on the 'Pedia. Thank you, --Coolピカチュウ! 00:31, 19 April 2010 (UTC) I'm trying not to not post forum stuff on the pages and I'm new to this so can you PLEASE stop nagging? You're making Bulbapedia even harder for me!SeanWheeler 00:38, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

You are posting forum stuff, though. Talk pages are not for asking how you can tell where north is in BW. Talk pages are not for asking where you can find GS batteries. If you find it too difficult to use Bulbapedia because there are too many policies to follow, perhaps this isn't really the best place for you. D: ▫▪Ťïňắ 00:52, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

When can I edit my page?

When can I edit my page? I need to finish my party templates for Sapphire and Emerald. I promise I will edit my Userpage once in a while and contribute more in the mainspace. When can I have my privilages back?--SeanWheeler 14:43, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

It doesn't look as though your page is protected anymore, so you should be able to edit it. Just remember to use the preview button this time around though, okay? If you have any further questions I would suggest asking Magnedeth. –MasterKenobi 14:49, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
But I just checked my userpage and the edit page tab is still replaced with a view source tab. You may be an administrator so it doesn't seem protected to you. Or, has pages been protected from one User?SeanWheeler 15:41, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
It must just be for you then, just keep contributing and you should get it back soon. If not, just ask Magnedeth as he is the one that took the action. Thanks. –MasterKenobi 16:14, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
You've been put into the abuse group.. so you can't edit any pages in the userspace until abuse is removed. Only way to get out is to make a sizable amount of mainspace contribs. Doesn't matter if you "promise to not edit as often", you still need to make a bunch of mainspace contribs... ones that haven't been reverted and simply stay. ▫▪Ťïňắ 16:21, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Need help with the forums!

I'm sorry if this comment should be on the forums but, they have my email address wrong! I try to fix it but they change it back to the incorrect email. MY EMAIL IS [email protected] NOT [email protected]. If you think I should put this on the forums, I can't without the forums' confirmation message on my inbox.--SeanWheeler 15:43, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Grammatical error detected

I noticed just today that the i in "I'm" isn't capatalized. Too bad I'm still in abuse. SeanWheeler 23:44, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, you can wait and not spam for tiny unimportant things like this. Please continue with editing the mainspace. Thanks, --Coolピカチュウ! 23:45, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

About wanted articles

It is absolutely not helpful if you create a wanted article with only one sentence. Just a heads up. ▫▫ティナ 23:55, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Changes button... Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Thanks! --Masatoshitalk 02:15, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

I do use the Preview button. There are just some mistakes I miss. SeanWheeler 02:20, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Friend Safari

Considering that CycloneGU is not a Staff member and his post was only a mere suggestion, it should not be used as permission to add the Friend Safari to all the pages. Wait until discussion is complete and it's officially decided. --Pokemaster97 23:11, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Would you voice your opinion on the Friend Safari talk page? And regarding your revert on Braixen's page, the middle stage Kalos starters can be found in the Friend Safari. They are there on the Friend Safari page in the slot two of their respective types with a 50% chance of appearing. SeanWheeler (talk) 23:27, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

I think your misunderstanding what I was saying. Evolution in the game is the primary method of obtaining Braixen. The Primary method should override that of the Friend Safari, because technically, it's an outside method. Discrepancies like this are reason that they should be fully discussed and come to a conclusion with clear guidelines. I put my input on the Forum discussion thread, other than that, I don't have a big opinion on it. --Pokemaster97 23:37, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
I think catching Pokémon in the wild is more of a primary way of getting them than evolving. Otherwise Pokémon like Butterfree would tell you to evolve Metapod instead of catching it on Route 2. And it is really obvious that you evolve Fenniken into Braixen. There are evolution templates on the pages. There are prev-next templates on the top and bottom of the pages, and Pokémon are next to their evolutionary relatives in the National Pokédex unless separated by generation. The brief summary at the top often mentions its evolution. So there are plenty of links to Fennekin on Braixen's page. And the area template only tells you to evolve if it was the only way in-game to do it. Completely removing Friend Safari from the area templates would be lying to people and making it harder to find the Friend Safari page. SeanWheeler (talk) 00:15, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Except that the Friend Safari technically isn't the wild. It's not a normal method of obtaining a Pokémon IMO because very specific qualifications need to be met in order to obtain it. On pages like Combusken, it says "Evolve Combusken" instead of Trade, because it's the most common way of obtaining it. What I'm trying to say is, the typical way of obtaining Braixen is through evolution, not the Friend Safari. The Friend Safari shouldn't override the evolution method. --Pokemaster97 00:26, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Combusken's area entrees for Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, HeartGold, and SoulSilver tells you to evolve Torchic because there is no other way in-game to obtain Combusken and Torchic was obtainable in those games. X and Y tells you to evolve the event Torchic. However, in other games like FireRed and LeafGreen, it tells you to trade because there is no other way to get Torchic or Combusken. Now, let's take Butterfree for instance, in the Johto games, it lists Route 2, Bug-Catching Contest, and Headbutt trees, but doesn't tell you to evolve Metapod even though Metapod can be caught and evolved. However, in the games that don't have wild Butterfree, they do tell you to evolve Metapod because there is no other way to obtain Butterfree in those games. And we have a list of Pokémon that appeared in the Friend Safari according to a japanese guidebook that seems accurate to people who played the game and been to the Friend Safari. So it does have a set amount that appear. Even though it is random, Pokémon like Rattata wouldn't appear. And I think it is very bad if we just ignore the Friend Safari. And throughout the debate, people have compared it to the White Forest, which we put on the Pokémon that appear there. I do not see the problem in covering it. I only see a problem in not doing so. SeanWheeler (talk) 23:08, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

You forgot another Pokemon Champion with a mono-type they use.

The one you forgot was Iris who uses a Team of Dragons. Not all of her team are Dragon types but it's the exact same with Steven when some of his are Rock types as well or Ground. Just letting you know in the summary of the Pokemon Champion page you forgot Iris and no unlike many people I do not think Alder is a bug master. I know he's varied. - unsigned comment from Hydreigonfan1 (talkcontribs)

So? Is it really that important? Thanks for reminding me, but all I was doing was reverting a user's false trivia. Steven and Lance is enough proof to get my point across when reverting an edit. SeanWheeler (talk) 00:51, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
