The Battle Frontier (Japanese: バトルフロンティア Battle Frontier) is Johto's premiere battle facility, located at the northernmost part of Route 40, west of Olivine City introduced in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. It is separated from the route itself by a gatehouse. Being the third Battle Frontier in the series, it will carry many of the special rules as it did in the previous Battle Frontiers in Hoenn and Sinnoh.
The Battle Frontier expands on the Battle Tower found in Pokémon Crystal by adding other facilities around it to challenge. Each of the facilities in the Battle Frontier has a Frontier Brain, who may be challenged after certain winning streaks have been made through their respective facilities.
A new area called the Frontier Front connects Route 40 to the Battle Frontier.
