Information
Sword & Shield is the name given to the first main expansion of the Sword & Shield Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. In Japan, it was released as the Sword · Shield dual sets that make up the first expansion block in the Pokémon Card Game Sword & Shield Era. It is based on Pokémon Sword and Shield, featuring Generation VIII Pokémon and the two game Legendary Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta. The English expansion was released on February 7, 2020, while the Japanese expansion was released on December 6, 2019.
A few changes were done to the card template. Stage 1 and Stage 2 Pokémon now have a number of arches between the name and HP: one arch for Stage 1 Pokémon, and two arches for Stage 2 Pokémon. Additionally, copyright information was moved to the card's bottom border.
Starting with this set, the Fairy type was retired, with Fairy-type Pokémon being represented by the Psychic type. Additionally, Poison-type Pokémon changed from being represented by the Psychic type to the Darkness type, and the player going first cannot play a Supporter card on the first turn.
