The Fusion Strike Build & Battle Box was a special product given to participants at the start of Fusion Strike Prerelease Tournaments. Although officially sanctioned Play! Pokémon events were still on hold at the time, unofficial Prereleases were permitted to go ahead and were first held on the weekend of November 6-7, 2021; boxes could also be sold from November 6. Prereleases were scheduled to start the weekend before but were delayed due to shipping constraints. Two boxes were also included in each copy of the Fusion Strike Build & Battle Stadium, which was released on November 26, 2021.
Each Build & Battle Box contained a random set of 23 predetermined cards designed to enhance the experience of the Limited format events in which they were intended. One of these was an exclusive SWSH Black Star Promotional card featuring alternate artwork to a card from the Fusion Strike expansion. Boxes could include one copy of either Oricorio, Pyukumuku, Deoxys, or Latias. Boxes also included four Fusion Strike booster packs.
Build & Battle Boxes could include a Non Holofoil version of Dragapult, which was normally Holofoil in the Fusion Strike expansion. They could also provide a re-release of Non Holofoil Sword & Shield Professor's Research originally from the Sword & Shield Build & Battle Box.
Box structure
Section 1
Each box included two of the following four different groups of Pokémon cards, with one group always coinciding with the Prerelease promo.
Section 2
Each box also included six random Supporter cards from the following, with no more than two copies of a particular card.
