Hey Kogoro~ I want to delete a few old pages in my userspace, but it seems my ability to delete pages has been removed even though I'm still classified as a junior administrator. I haven't been familiar with Bulbapedia policies for a couple years now. How should I proceed? Thanks. Argy (talk) 07:22, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

Hey Kogoro, I was curious about the Pokémon Red and Blue edits.  Are they List of edicts or something?  I ask since you cited an executive decision in the edit summary for each edit.  --Super goku (talk) 03:52, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello again, Kogoro.  I know that you are busy working on making improvements to the Availability template, but I wanted to discuss three of the Pokémon available in the Safari Zone.  Mainly, there are three Pokémon that have different forms that are available in the Friend Safari: Sawsbuck, Gastrodon, and Floette.  I did work on a few ideas if you would like to check them out, but I think that you might want to know about them since each one might need a special line of notice for the forms available, especially with Floette.  As a second question, do you believe that the Slot number should be mentioned?  --Super goku (talk) 23:21, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

While editing the Twitch Plays Pokémon page, I noticed that it was using a new form of Party template created by you, as well as a variation for Tag battles. I wanted to know if there's a reason why these new templates aren't being rotated in. So, while I noticed alot of people are changing the old party template to the new one, I figured I'd give it a shot, but decided to test it out in my own userspace so I could be confident I knew what I was doing and wouldn't break anything in the mainspace. Well, that didn't work. I encountered an issue, and no matter how many times I look between it and a correctly changed version, I can't figure out why this happens. As per this edit summary, me trying to change it caused all 6 Pokémon to appear on the same row instead of two rows of three, and I do not understand what I am missing. I even tried to do it on a mainspace page (without saving), and it still happens (On a party with 5 Pokémon instead of 6, they all show up on different rows, even weirder.....). I hate to be a pest, but if you do see something I'm missing, please feel free to tell me so I can start helping out with the Party to Party/Single change. regards, <span style="color:DarkGreen">Schiffy (瀬藤健二)</span> (Talk Contribs) <span style="cursor:help;" title="This is when my words were heard">23:05,2/18/2014 (UTC)</span>

"Obscene Usernames"
So, I've run into a bit of a problem concerning a friend of mine. He made an account just today, attempted to edit, and was hit by Abuse Filter 2 (I'm currently talking to him over Skype, and neither of us understand why). The name he made was "Scorched Convict", which I don't really understand how that would fall under "Obscene Usernames". Is there anything that can be done about this? (If he simply needs to change the name he created, I can ask him what he wants to change it to and tell you if he can't make edits). :I just checked the abuse filter logs, and the filter triggered was not related to usernames. Nothing to worry about there. == Major Clean-up ==
PokéLand, the Portuguese site for Pokémon was completely shutdown sometime ago (around 2012!). Every single link in there in the pages here in Bulbapedia are broken, I must say that couldn't expect less, the site was horrible and few people worked on it, it was very low on a wikia standards and this filial is with Bulbapedia, an encyclopedia.
My point is: I propose to eliminate those links from all pages who link to that site, there are simply no point of them being there, including the one in the main page. They are in most (if not all) Pokémon pages from Gens I-V, in all of the main characters from anime and a few episodes along with the movies, their extent to the manga is unknown to my knowledge, but there are many pages who need this removal. I would do this alone, but there are too much for me to handle and also I don't know where to start.--Igor (talk) 01:02, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Other Languages
Hi. I've only recently joined Bulbapedia, but while I was editing the Other Languages section of some articles, I noticed that there isn't much consistency for naming or romanization. Maybe it's just me, but I think that the articles should at least have some sort of guideline for adding name origin and meaning (for the major languages, not just Japanese). Also, since what I'm doing right now is mainly cleaning up the languages section, I think there should be a category or list on the Editor's Hub addressing articles that need language-related improvement (it's a pain searching through every single article just to find translations/origins to add), and if possible a project on languages as well. In fact the to-do list could be added to the Project Languages page.
I'm an American-born Korean, and while I don't really like Korean (in fact I hate it, it's a really complicated and cluttered language), I still do feel a sense of pride whenever I contribute Korean to an English wiki (speaking of which, is this an American-English or European-English site?).
Oh, and I hope you don't feel that this is too trivial to be addressed. :) AegeanKnight (talk) 09:43, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
:When that policy page was made, I don't believe we covered Korean names as much as we do now, and the page is a little out of date as. We'll look into romanization guidelines for Korean information, and get that added to our policies as soon as possible. Other languages will also be looked into.
:As for categorizing where in other language entries are missing, it's likely not reasonable to do, it would require far too many calls of rather resource heavy condition statements. With the mass of pages that the template is included in, all of those condition statements would probably cause more problems than the idea is intended to fix.
:I don't think there's much need for a specialized languages project as we already have Project Globe which covers global content. The "In other languages" sections would more than reasonably fall under the scope of that project.
:Bulbapedia is written in American English in the main content spaces. Both American and Commonwealth English are fine in the userspace and on talk pages.

Extension the limit of the error images
Hello. I was wondering if you extended the limit of the error images up to 25. I know five images is enough, but that's not enough, really. The other sites have the images limited up to 50, but why this site isn't limited because of five? 15 or 20 that is enough, but why five? Could it be that five images is more than 20? Or five is a lucky number? I don't think so. That's why we need this limit extension. Pikachu65 09:53, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
:What sites have a limit of 50? Provide examples, please. The error image limit is 5 because we don't need to bog the pages down with unnecessary images of super-minor errors, and that isn't changing. - <span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span> - <span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span> - 03:29, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Some rules with the Code of Conduct
Okay, I'm not sure if this is covered in the Code of Conduct section or somewhere on the site but I noticed some non-staff members have given me a hard time for messing up with certain articles even though I only did it one time and for things that I didn't know that I wasn't allowed to do such as tagging a userspace article for deletion (not the userspace itself) and dealing with some different Japanese stuff. Most recently, it happened here when a user, Adamant, was bullying and giving me a hard time. It also happened on Bulbapedia/Archives prior to that recent incident. Hopefully, these rules would prevent other users not in staff from doing the same thing in the future. == Template edit requests... ==
On the talk pages for the templates...
*Template:Shopitem
*Template:PDollar
*Template:Data structure
...I have requested that simple edits be made. To be honest, the one I'm most concerned about is just Shopitem. But despite a few attempts to draw staff attention, I've gotten no response of any sort. So this time I'm appealing directly to you to please edit these templates (or, at the very least, Shopitem). Tiddlywinks (talk) 12:51, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
:The first two templates are heavy use, so they'll have to wait until a low traffic period tonight. As for the third, is there any reason you felt it was proper to split a large segment off of another article with absolutely no discussion attempt on the original article's talk page? - <span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span> - <span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span> - 00:44, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
::Be assured: there was reason. In part, the data structure pages are pretty apparently low interest overall, so I feared I wouldn't get any discussion (or never enough to "count"). (And to be clear, I did, in my way, try to start a discussion, even if I might have been naive to think merely doing that was or should have been enough.)
::More importantly, though: there's ZERO reason the character encoding should be confined to the save data structure page and plentiful reason for it to be its own page. Because the save data structure is not - not by a long shot - the only place that uses the character encoding. In particular, Pokémon data structure in Generation III uses it; I'm also pretty confident the Item, Pokedex, and Frontier structures use it too but I haven't actually checked those myself at this moment. The character encoding information simply does not "belong" on the save data structures page. I imagine it was merely convenient, at the time.
::I don't think I was wrong to make the decision I did, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I think I made a good judgement, and I think that's enough. Am I wrong about either of those things?
::I do intend that the other sections about encoding on the other save data structure pages be split as well, but for the time being, I'm (kind of) trying to focus on Gen III data structures. Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:38, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
:::When adding a template like split, you should start the discussion on the talk page as well. Outlining your rationale for the changes will make it easier for people to agree or disagree with your thoughts. Edit summaries don't allow for detailed explanations.
:::I won't disagree that a split would be a good idea, however, whether an idea is good or not, or if the subject is high or low interest, doesn't mean it should not be given proper chance for discussion. This was a major split, and absolutely should have been discussed before being done. You should not have split the article until a proper discussion had taken place, nor was it your decision to make.
:::You're more than welcome to start discussions regarding splitting them. But please keep in mind that major changes need to be discussed. - <span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span> - <span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span> - 03:16, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
::::I would like a hard number then, if you please. What's the "proper" time for discussion? Is it too much to hope it's something less than a week? Please don't tell me it's more...
::::If no one has responded after the "proper" time, am I free to do as I please?
::::If one person immediately agrees can I do it? If one person immediately agrees and 24 hours have passed? ...48 hours? ...Or do I have to wait the whole "proper" time? Is there any sort of threshold of people who agree whereafter I could take immediate action? Say, if a dozen people agreed? More? Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:34, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
:::::There's no exact time that makes a discussion proper, but a discussion should be given at least a week or two to go somewhere. And a discussion shouldn't end until a reasonable consensus has been reached and the staff have been given time to review the idea and the discussion.
:::::If nobody has responded in the one to two week time, you should take the matter directly to a staff member. We have hundreds of edits per day, and we simply can't be absolutely everywhere all the time. Unfortunately, that means that an edit gets missed here and there.
:::::No. Even if there's an overwhelming or unopposed agreement to the change, the staff need to be alerted to the developments and allowed to give the changes a thorough look over. While it is rare, we have had discussions with overwhelming majorities wanting something that simply wasn't possible to do. The staff review is extremely important, especially for major changes. - <span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span> - <span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span> - 04:04, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
::::::Can I not just take it immediately to a staff member then, so they can immediately (or sooner) turn it down if it's going to be turned down, or else give their blessing supposing others agree or no one comments? And who would be best? Just whoever is head of that section/subject? On their talk page? Or maybe I should try one of the forum threads (though I had little luck there for the templates above...). Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:19, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
:::::::The reason for public discussions is to allow the public to voice their concerns or support regarding major change ideas. While the staff retains a level of editorial control, we want to do our best to live up to our motto "The community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia." While not everyone will get their way, they still deserve the chance to have their say. - <span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span> - <span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span> - 04:33, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
::::::::If a thing is going to be disapproved for incontravenable reasons anyway, then what exactly is the point of discussion? Why not know there's such a reason sooner rather than later? Is that too much to ask, at least? Just a "nothing blatantly problematic there" for starters?
::::::::Regardless of how you feel about me contacting staff early, let's just consider who I should contact at the "proper" time...especially if there's been no comment. Again: just take it to whoever heads that subject? Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:57, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
:::::::::It's not reasonable to have a staff preview for every big idea. In general, if there's a significant issue with an idea, it will probably be caught pretty quickly after it's posted. We're putting significant effort into making it much more rare that an idea gets missed, including working through a backlog of ideas that got missed in the past.
:::::::::As for who to contact when a discussion has either gone stagnant or has finished discussion, you can really contact anyone on staff and they'll hand it forward if it's not something they have the authority to handle. If you'd prefer, however, you can contact the EB head of the relevant section, or you can contact Zesty Cactus or myself with it. - <span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span> - <span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span> - 05:13, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

I have a question for you regarding my user page.

Now, I want to make my user page better, but I wanna ask.

Is it ok that I list my favorite Pokémon and what I like don't like about Pokémon, or does my user page have to be relevant to this encyclopedia somehow? TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 01:53, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

That's entirely fine, and pretty much exactly what the userspace is meant for. A list of what isn't allowed, as well as additional rules & restrictions regarding the userspace, can be found at the userspace policy. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:57, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks I'll be sure to read the policy. Oh, and I am going to make use of that preview button since I know there is a limit to how much I'm allowed to update my user page a day. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 02:07, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Sprite completion

Everything in Stage 2 of the Trainer sprites project has been finished, including the protected pages (with special thanks to Sprite-it for fixing them all). Masatoshi* already took care of Stage 3 after all of the sprite links were changed on their respective pages so we don't have to worry about that. PattyMan 04:56, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

Both Spriteit and Masatoshi had already come to me in regards to approval for the work they did, so I'm already aware of the completion of Stage 2 and Stage 3. But, thank you anyway for the progress report. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:22, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Question about Dunsparce page

I recently updated the page with its Gold/Silver backsprites in an extra box, and you changed the extras to the Crystal backsprites. In the history page it says the main box sprites will "take a while to refresh"; does this mean they will correctly show the Gold/Silver backsprites soon? As of now they appear to show the Crystal sprites. Just wondering! Frezgle (talk) 12:18, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

They're meant to show Crystal backsprite, while that big template should show GS (someone uploaded Crystal backsprite on GS's file) Marked +-+-+ (talk) 12:28, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure if I should revert them back to the proper file or if that's in the works already D: I did upload the G/S files prior to my edit to show the differences between the two and I'm not sure why they're now both the Crystal sprite. Frezgle (talk) 12:33, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
Server takes time to update. Due to that, they look correctly at Archives, but not Bulbapedia. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 12:37, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
Urrggh yeah, I figured that out after attempting to revise it and seemingly barfing up the revision history x~x Guess I'll just leave it alone then Frezgle (talk) 12:40, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
For a bit of an elaboration, Bulbapedia (and Bulbanews) supply files through a cached content delivery network (CDN). When files are modified on the Archives, the CDN will generally change the cached image within 24 hours. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:22, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Transcripts

Why don't we do pokemon transcripts? If you want to add everything about pokemon why not those to. Dbeckelheimer6 (talk) 23:17, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

It's an issue of copyright. Copying the subject of an episode word for word can be considered a rather serious violation of respective copyrights. This is why we do episode synopses, rather than transcripts. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 23:23, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

What's the difference between when a Pokémon learns a new move, or is revealed to know it? --Doggy567123 (talk) 00:08, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Learning a move is physically seen in the episode. The main characters will point out that it didn't know the move beforehand. (Cilan's Crustle using Rock Wrecker after evolving is an example) Revealing a move is when the characters are aware that the Pokémon knows the move, they just haven't used it before. Hey, Kogoro. I was wondering if you could take a look at the Event page for Shaymin if you have a chance to. I am not familiar enough with how the template works and was hoping that you could work out the remaining issues on the table. --Super goku (talk) 20:07, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Because of that template being updated the template is broken on tons of other Pokémon pages, not just Shaymin. It was updated as part of a major event Pokémon rework on Bulbapedia. The way to fix the problems on the template is by adding the link perimeter, because the Template:gameabbrev3 breaks the event template without the link perimeter. I can fix the template in a little bit. Lady Ariel 20:18, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Jdogno4 (talk) 09:38, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

This isn't due to any one incidence, but many over the course of your time on Bulbapedia: 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5, and 6. Even with a mandatory preview, it took you two edits to post this question. You really need to learn to use the preview button, so you can make your changes with a single edit. That is why it is necessary. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:21, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

Bulbapedia News

Dear Kogoro, I would like to know if I could create a Area in the main page, with helpful info to new trainers, or Rumors on new pokemon, or Fanfiction stories, or anything Pokemon related? - unsigned comment from ShadowPikachu126 (talkcontribs)

Koga's and Giovanni's sprites

Deat Kogoro, I am trying to change Giovanni's and Koga's VS sprite to their gen III sprites because they aren't gym leaders in generation IV. If you look up Viridian City and Fuchsia City, you will see Koga's and Giovanni's gen III, not their VS sprites. Also, if you try to edit Viridian City or Fuchsia City, you will see a message by an admin saying that their gen III sprites are used because they weren't gym leaders in gen IV and that admin will ban you for 1 month if you edit it to their gen IV sprite. I am trying to follow his example and change their VS sprites to their gen III sprites. If you could, please let me do so.

Sincerely, - unsigned comment from Agent5514 (talkcontribs)

Commented instructions are only in effect on the page they are placed on, unless they specifically note additional pages that are also subject to the instructions. The Indigo League and Gym Leader pages use the VS sprites for consistency within the table, among other reasons, and were done so after a lengthy discussion. It was also brought up in July 2012, and it was made quite clear that users preferred the VS sprites over the FRLG battle sprites for Koga and Giovanni on the Gym Leader page.
When someone reverts you, especially a member of the Bulbapedia staff, it is imperative that you do not restore your changes and that you bring up your concerns on the article's talk page instead. What you have done on the Gym Leader and Indigo League pages is start what is called an edit war, which is not permitted on Bulbapedia and can result in blocks ranging from temporary to permanent. If you wish for the sprites to be changed, bring it up on the talk page for the Gym Leader article, and allow due discussion. Do not restore your changes until such discussion has taken place, and been properly finalized. Thank you, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 21:04, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

To use an external image in that usertag, you will need to remove the archives filename from your inclusion of the usertag and replace it with: "image=complete URL of the image" Be sure that your external file is no larger than 60×60 pixels, or it will stretch out the tag. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 23:39, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
Alright, thanks. I see what I was doing wrong, I didn't have the "image=" as part of the parameter, so I was getting random crap. Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 23:53, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Me again!

Hi it's me again,I returned. For now I have made some good edits and I'm going to do more.I hope you help me.--αlιρικαchu ~ ·ï¡÷¡ï· ~ тαlĸ 13:10, 15 April 2013 (UTC) Please move my group, cause i want to make some templates on my sub user space.--αlιρικαchu ~ ·ï¡÷¡ï· ~ тαlĸ 18:58, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

To be completely honest with you, I must still decline to restore your userspace privileges. Your most recent edit to Bulbapedia prior to the month of April 2013 was on May 17th 2012. You've been gone from Bulbapedia for nearly an entire year, and the last edit prior to this absence was part of the last time you asked for your userspace privileges back. You have only made a total of 11 mainspace edits since you have returned, and the vast majority of those edits were reverted. So, once again, I am sorry, but no. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 19:47, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
1.Am I able to make templates without that user space.2.How can I take screenshot of routes like this Johto_Route_41--αlιρικαchu ~ ·ï¡÷¡ï· ~ тαlĸ 08:02, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
 1. If the templates are not personal in nature, you can create examples of them in the official sandbox. If they are personal in nature (like a usertag), you cannot create them without earning your userspace privileges back.
 2. Screenshots like the one on that page are created by taking smaller screenshots of the entire area, then connecting them all together as a single file through any image editing program. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 21:08, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Images

May I know that does a page has it's limits for adding pictures or the limit of pictures is relative to the text? - User:`Dawn (talk) 10:26, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

In general, the image limit is relative to how much written content is available on the article. Additionally, please add new discussions as new sections rather than attaching them to completed and/or unrelated previous discussions. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 10:36, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Stadium sprites

Hello, Kogoro! I'm having a slight problem, and a user recommended I'd ask you. So, here goes:
A little while back I noticed that Bulbagarden Archives have all the Stadium and Stadium 2 Pokémon sprites, which made me wonder why aren't they at use. So I checked it out, and found out that the Party template cannot show Stadium images in their properly small size. So, the favor I'm asking you is, that could you please edit the aforementioned template so that the Stadium Pokémon sprites can be used in it with a proper size? I hope you understood. Thank you! --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:11, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
PS. BTW, do you know how to upload Stadium images, because several Stadium portraits, including several Trainer portrait from Stadium, and, most importantly to me, Mewtwo's portrait from Stadium 2. So, if you can do this, could you please tackle this job after (possibly) completing the aforementioned request? Once again, thank you.

To start, you seem to be a little confused here, so I want to clear this up: party has nothing to do with what Pokémon images can and can't be used, that's specified by the version of the Pokémon box that is used (example: ). With that said, the Stadium models a massive issue preventing their use in parties; they're all inconsistently sized. Caterpie's file is exceptionally tiny, while Blastoise's file is rather large. Blastoise's image is rather square, while Gyarados's file is much taller than it is wide. There may be ways to handle these size issues, but to accomplish that will take quite a bit of planning. Additionally, it will take the creation of a completely new Pokémon box for Stadium & Stadium 2 use. I will look into it, but I make no promises of it working or ever seeing the mainspace. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 03:47, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Before I thank you, I'd like to say that yes, I knew that the images were incorrectly sized, but I thought that the problem was at the template. I seemed to think that there could be a way to make the template show the images in a proper size, but if that's not the case, and something new has to be done, take all the time you need. And now, thank you for your attention. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:26, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

How would I go about

changing my username to Launchballer? It is the username I use everywhere else.--Tmwps (talk) 14:05, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Users are not able to change their own usernames. Username change requests need to be sent to a member of the Editorial Board, such as myself. With that noted, I have noticed that you attempted to change usernames on your own by redirecting everything of yours to the "Launchballer" name back in May 2010, and you have not edited Bulbapedia once between then and 2013 (Your last mainspace edit was in May 2009). It is my opinion that you need to contribute more to Bulbapedia, show that you plan to stay as a regular contributor to the encyclopedia, before we can consider changing your username. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 18:21, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

Fanfiction Page

I would like to suggest to add a page of notable fanficions from Fanfiction.net, because Fanfiction is a becoming a large part of fandom and they should be noted and celebrated. Shadow out. ShadowPikachu126 (talk) 02:14, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

What constitutes a "notable" fanfic is an extremely debatable subject. While a page (or, more likely a section) about the impact that fanfiction has on the fandom as a whole may be reasonable, a list of "notable" fanfics would only prove to be a source of constant disagreement. We'll look into what may be possible. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:49, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, I do believe that Fanfiction is a notable part of Pokemon Culture and should be noted. Here is a link to Pokemon Fanficion Shadow Out! ShadowPikachu126 (talk) 02:56, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

Question about general typo editing

Uh, hello Kogoro. I use this wiki alot, and I kept coming up on a few typoes as I was doing some searching. I was trying to edit the Gardevoir main page, because I saw a capitalization error. I didn't see any edit buttons. I'm assuming it's because Gardevoir recently got the fairy type. But then I went to add something to Gallade's page, and I didn't see edit buttons there, either. So, uh, yeah, help me out? (Also, in case I can't edit it, the typo was a capital 'T' in torso on Gardevoir's page, and the Gallade thing was just some trivia) Snorzy (talk) 03:29, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Both articles are protected due to Gardevoir's new Fairy typing, since speculation/unsourced information has an extremely bad habit of spreading to intimately connected articles. If an article doesn't have any edit links, and the main "edit this page" tab has been replaced by "view source", the article in question is under protection and the reason can be seen by checking the source via the aforementioned tab. An edit request can be made on the article's talk page, and action will be taken as quickly as possible. The capitalization fix for Gardevoir's article has been handled by Force Fire. Thank you, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:12, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

What is Shipping?

What does shipping mean? - unsigned comment from Fuwanati (talkcontribs)

Have a look to Ivsaur's Page

Hello Sir,the edits I made yesterday were reverted by you and you are right about them that they should be rewritten. Please Tell me what should be changed. In my opinion:

 • Habitat should be removed.(As already mentioned in the message of 14th August)
 • Diet should be removed.
 • Only special moves and abilities should be added.
 • A small brief introduction at the top.

Is this all I have to do? Please reply soon.--Monfernape (talk) 03:34, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

As the August 14th Message from the Editor notes, Bulbasaur should be used as an example of what needs to be done. I would highly suggest checking out the revision differences for when Bulbasaur was converted to the new format, as it will show how drastic the changes need to be. The message you received from Crystal Talian covers the general basics. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:53, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing the template, though I didn't know that Template:MSL was an outdated template. — Reshi643 08:07, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Username change request

Hi, I'm asking if it's possible to get my Bulbapedia username changed, with Vaehran being the new username. I'm trying to deprecate this age-old, unpractical "Mewtwo745" username, and I'm already using Vaehran on the Bulbagarden forums and other Pokémon communities. I haven't done much yet in the way of edits, so this shouldn't be too hard on resources. (A busy Werdnae forwarded me to your talk page a while back, but I decided to email you instead anyway. Receiving no response, I'm posting this here; should've done that originally.) Mewtwo745 (talk) 17:26, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Done. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 20:34, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Deletion ability

Hey Kogoro~ I want to delete a few old pages in my userspace, but it seems my ability to delete pages has been removed even though I'm still classified as a junior administrator. I haven't been familiar with Bulbapedia policies for a couple years now. How should I proceed? Thanks. Argy (talk) 07:22, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

Hey, Argy, good to see you around! Junior Administrators don't have the delete ability, only full Administrators and higher have it, so that would be why you are unable to delete anything. If you just drop me links to the pages here, I can delete them for you. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:57, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Ah, that's what I suspected. No problem whatsoever. :) Here are the pages: this one, this one, and this one. Just trying to clean up a bit. Thank you! Argy (talk) 18:36, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
All deleted, glad to help. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 22:30, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Region colors

Just out of curiosity, why did you change the colors of each region except Kalos? I was so used to those colors. SeanWheeler (talk) 16:20, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

The region colors, specifically Sinnoh's color, was causing problems with some templates due to the extreme similarities it had to the colors for Black and Black 2. Additionally, the colors for the regions had no official basis and were somewhat randomly decided (mostly by an individual who did not have the authority to make such decisions). The official guidebook for Black 2 and White 2 contains information regarding the PWT, uses the these very colors for the regional Gym Leader tournaments. Kalos, of course, didn't exist at the time and still uses an unofficial color. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 22:30, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Has it been considered to use the colors from the Kalos National Pokédex? When viewing the national Pokédex in X and Y, there are colors on the right side corresponding to each region. --Kylalak (talk) 14:05, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
I'd like to second this; the way the colors are presented directly in the game itself gives a very "official" vibe, as casual as it may be. For anyone who hasn't noticed, Generation I is red, Generation II is yellow, Generation III is green, Generation IV is a lightish blue, Generation V is pink, and Generation VI is white. It's the closest we have to "official" colors. --KiANGLO (TALK) 23:03, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
I would also like to add support for this. Considering how the Pokémon of each region is colored a different color hints that it was done to provide a color to each region. --Super goku (talk) 00:02, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
It is something being considered. However, color template edits cause severe server stress and aren't something that can be done at this time. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 08:08, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Suggestion: Strategies

Hello Kogoro, I come to you with a suggestion, a rather ambitious and large one so sit back, grab your tea and get ready to read because it's going to be a long post.

Overview:

As a frequent and old Pokémon player I regularly find the need to search for the best way to raise my Pokémon, which Pokémon are the best to catch, and after having them, how can I maximize the potential of each and every Pokémon in my team. As you clearly know, there is no information on Bulbapedia (except for some stats, abilities and natures, but nothing indicative of a potential "best" situation) regarding this matter. Therefore, I wish to make a proposition so we can fulfill this niche of players who look to find the best way to make their team the most powerful one, or just to help guide the average player with his playing experience in order to avoid some frustration as to why his Pokémon aren't performing in up top shape. To serve this purpose I'm going to make two suggestions: the first one would be a simple short version of what a possible best strategy could be; and the second one would be a sort of in-depth guide for the training on each individual Pokémon. Now on to the suggestions!

Disclaimer: (should be written and applied in all suggestions)

These builds and strategies are all but mere suggestions to serve as a guide for the average player who may struggle with the use of his Pokémon or simply to allow them to learn more about how to unlock the true potential of each Pokémon. It is not meant for the player to be forced to take this path. The player should choose, by himself, which is the best way to raise his Pokémon.

First Suggestion - Recommended Strategy

Objective - Serves as a quick go-to guide for the overall best strategy for a specific Pokémon.

Example:

Spr 4h 149.png
Types:
Dragon Flying
Ability:
Multiscale
Held item:
Bag Leftovers Sprite.png Leftovers
Dragonite Lv.100
ExtremeSpeed
Normal Physical
Outrage
Dragon Physical
Dragon Dance
Dragon Status
Waterfall
Water Physical

EVs and Nature:

EVs: 252 Attack / 4 Speed / 252 Special Nature: Adamant (+Attack, -Special Attack)

These EVs are completely focused on hard hitting targets, with a maximized Attack and Special Attack stats as it will guarantee a clear sweep which will continue to improve with each successful Dragon Dance.

See EV and List of Pokémon by effort value yield for more information on how to raise your Pokémon stats (alternatively it would be a good idea to make a page dedicated just to how to train your Pokémon's EV and how Natures affect your Pokémon, etc etc etc).

Strategy:

The strategy is as simples as follows:

 • Keep using Dragon Dance whenever the opponent opens up a window of opportunity;
 • Hit them straight in the face with whichever move is the best against that Pokémon, otherwise stick to Outrage;
 • Use Extremespeed as a finisher;

Optionally, the use of Earthquake against teams who use Steel, Poison or Fire Pokémon has proven very effective. Roost is also a good move if the player wishes to make the most out of Multiscale.

Second Suggestion - In-depth Guide

Objective - Provide a complete in-depth competitive strategy giving the most important information and explanations about which build to choose for the specific Pokémon. As we know the competitive scene always brings out the best in the meta of every game, so to dedicate a page to strategies of the current metagame could greatly serve and help anyone who is looking for the best of the best.

Example

Pokémon
 • Name: Dragonite
 • Index: 149
 • First Type: Dragon
 • Second Type: Flying
 • Species: Dragon Pokémon
 • Ability: Multiscale or Inner Focus

(tip: a box specific for this idea would be nice, I couldn't find one)

Strategy Name: Physical Attacker
 • Held Item: Haban Berry / Leftovers
 • Abilty: Multiscale
 • Nature: Adamant
EV:
 • 204 HP
 • 252 Attack
 • 52 Special Attack
Moveset
 • Dragon Claw
 • Extremespeed
 • Fire Punch
 • Protect
Strategy

This is the standard Dragonite set. Dragon Claw is Dragonite's main move, as it gets the STAB boost and is only resisted by Steel-types. Fire Punch provides nice coverage along with Dragon Claw, hitting Abomasnow and Steel-types for super effective damage. However, it should be noted that despite being super effective, Fire Punch won't do over 50% to max HP Metagross. ExtremeSpeed will allow Dragonite to strike first, moving even before all other priority attacks bar Fake Out. Protect is a staple for most Pokemon in VGC, and can also be used in sync with Leftovers to help restore HP each turn.

The 204 HP EVs allow Dragonite to always survive Life Orb Latios's Draco Meteor, and also gives it maximum Leftovers recovery and good bulk. The 52 Speed EVs let Dragonite outrun minimum speed Rotom-A. The rest of the EVs are put into Attack. An Adamant nature allows Dragonite to deal as much damage as possible, while Leftovers is used to restore some HP each turn, which might allow multiple usage of Multiscale. Haban Berry, however, lets Dragonite survive a Dragon Gem Latios's Draco Meteor, which it cannot do with just Multiscale.

As for teammates, Ground-types such as Krookodile can work well as Dragonite is immune to their Earthquake. Scrafty is a handy partner as it has Fake Out to help Dragonite preserve Mutiscale for a turn. Its STAB attacks are also super effective against Abomasnow and Latios, Dragonite's two main counters. Either Politoed or Ninetales can also be used to get rid of opposing sandstorm and hail if needed, as both of these weathers will break Dragonite's Multiscale. Taken from Smogon University (I am aware that we shouldn't provide content from other websites without asking their permission but I don't have the enough experience to write a full on strategy by myself, I merely wanted to use this as an example, I understand if you have to remove this and if I would have to be scolded for putting this here)

Important side note: all of this information should be backed with a link to a page explaining how to evolve your Pokémon to raise their EVs this way, why and what natures affect what stats, what Pokémon to fight against if you want to have the best stats raised, how to catch Pokérus to further your stat evolution, the use of Vitamins in EVs, training with Macho Brace and the remaining factors that can boost the stats of the Pokémon.

Secondary side note: As you can see the difference between this guide and the first guide is that the first guide should provide a more comprehensive and simple way for anyone to build their Pokémon in a specific powerful way, while the second one should be an all-out strategy taking the most important factors into consideration on the current metagame.

Pros and Cons of these suggestions:

Pros - the first suggestion is quick, succinct, easy to read and understandable, every build shouldn't be bigger than that, and the idea is that anyone can easily shortcut it's ways through the menu and quickly understand one of the best builds for Dragonite (in its page). The second suggestion should have a page completely dedicated to it and should serve as a complete in-depth guide of how to build a specific Pokémon. If we display several strategies while backing up that information with each and every VGC (and other important tournaments), this solves the subjective con since we could 100% base ourselves on real strategies used in real life tournaments and place them there for anyone to learn.

Cons - subjectiveness, my idea of "best build" can differ from the next guy, so this can be a problem in the sense that will probably generate a lot of discussion and to ascertain a common "best build" amongst the community could be very hard. This would require a change in each and every Pokémon page to grant a strategy to each one of it, or would require the creation of 600+ pages for in-depth guides in each Pokémon page. Either one of those are obviously time consuming. Another added con is that all of this information is very volatile as it can change from generation to generation with stats/abilities/move updates and new moves coming in to the game, requiring constant maintenance with each generation.

Presented Solutions - create a best strategy contest! This contest should be held weekly with different Pokémons each week, allowing for the community to pitch in their very own version of what the best strategy is while in the meantime allowing anyone who visits Bulbapedia to vote on what the best strategy is. At the end of the week the contest closes and the best strategy is posted on the Pokémon page crediting the user who entered the strategy. This could entice the community in to sharing ideas between them and would definitely bring more people in so they could place their own strategies for everyone to see. This solution could be made on the Bulbapedia page, or have a part of the forum dedicated to it. It could also be applied to any of the two suggestions I made.

Conclusion

I understand that overall this is a very, very hard and ambitious project for the whole Bulbapedia, with new games coming up every year, with new Anime and new Manga out every month, there is a lot of information that needs to be reviewed and constantly updated. Even after all these years the to-do list for Bulbapedia is huge and there's always some things that were left out that could have been done in a better fashion, hence my fear that making this could be a bite bigger than Bulbapedia can chew, and so I am ready to accept the fact that this suggestion will, most possibly, be discarded and forgotten as certainly there are other things waiting to be done and reserved for the future of Bulbapedia. To finish this massive wall of text, I just want to thank you for your patience and attention given in reading all this, I am very sorry that it had to came out this long, and I wish to point out that all I ever wanted was to provide a new perspective, a competitive perspective even, a new way for Bulbapedia to improve and become a better place for everyone. However, I didn't want to do it without having my opinions properly backed up. ----EtherealAether (talk) 16:34, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

While this is certainly a niche that we don't cover in extreme detail, we have very important reasons why we can't cover it in such a way. Per our manual of style, information in articles should be factual and neutral. Strategy suggestions/advice is completely opposite to that. Bulbapedia is not a game guide, nor does it strive to be one, Bulbapedia is a Pokémon encyclopedia. We do not strive to recommend or tell players how they should play and enjoy the games, we strive to offer factual information that allows them to create their own strategies and experiences. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 22:30, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi! I'll struggle to keep this in mind whenever I decide to suggest new things. Thank you very much for your time ^^ ----EtherealAether (talk) 23:34, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Ken Sugimori artwork

I got a message earlier on my talk page about some of the art from Ken Sugimori being from different games than what the images describe them, as seen here. So, what do you think? PattyMan 21:35, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

We'll need to look into it in depth before making any large-scale changes. With XY coming in a month, it won't happen until after the XY rush period. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 12:29, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Bulbanews

That site looks generic and boring without roundy thing compared to Bulbapedia, even the Archive looks better than it. Also, I'm not the only one who bothering this. Would you like to do something about it? Thanks! AKUro? あくロちゃん 09:11, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

It would not be appropriate for me to simply up and change the appearance of Bulbanews, as I do not hold an executive position there. If you want something like that changed on Bulbanews, you would need to seek out the approval of the Bulbanews Editor-in-Chief. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 09:34, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Request

Hi, sorry to bother you. If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to request a username change. I've spent five years under the name "KCorp4000", but now I see it as an awkward, outdated mess. If you could change it to "TylerGray", my alias on the forums and other communities, I would happily never ask again. My edit count stands at just over 2200, the wide majority in the Appendix namespace. Thanks for your time. — KC 06:11, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

Pokémon pages are protected

Can you unprotect the pages for Froakie, Chespin, Fennekin, Xerneas, Sylveon, and Yveltal? These pages have indefinite edit protection. Lady Ariel 16:50, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

Image protection

Now that the X and Y games are out, could the image protections be removed, such as the Mega Stone sprite protections? I would be ready to upload some images whenever it would be possible. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 08:08, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Can you unprotect the uploading on Archives? I really want to start sending the new pictures. Thank you. Pikachu65 14:54, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
I know that the X and Y games are out, but could you unprotect the uploading and editing on Archives? I really want to start uploading some images whenever it would be possible. Pikachu65 13:34, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
Editing and uploading to the Bulbagarden Archives will remain restricted for the time being. We are currently working on the extremely important plans required before the Archives will be opened. Please be patient during this time, and any upload or edit requests can be sent to any member of the Archives staff via their respective Bulbapedia talk pages.
Additionally, I highly suggest that all users take the time to check a staff members online status here before contacting them. I was on an unexpected, but publicly announced hiatus until just now. I was not ignoring anyone, I wasn't available to respond. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 09:08, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
I know. But I have a request about uploading the picuters and editing them, so I must to talk to the Archives staff via their respective Bulbapedia talk pages, right? Pikachu65 10:38, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
If you have a request regarding uploading a file, or making an edit, you can send the request to a single member of the Archives staff about it. Keep in mind, the only accepted requests would be for that staff member to make the edit or upload for you. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:16, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
But which one should I choose? Maybe you? Or the other single? Pikachu65 11:54, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
You can select any member of the Archives staff, as long as their status is set to active. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 10:54, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Your moveset list templates

Are they approaching a usable form? - signed comment from GoldenCelebi (pedia talknews talkarchives talk) 17:12, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Moveset list templates? I assume you mean the ones I made in the Template: namespace? They were ready for use the moment they were created, that's why they exist in the Template: namespace rather than my userspace. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:16, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
I actually meant User:Kogoro/Moveentry/Level6 and moveentry/TM5, but it seems that those are in the Template namespace as well. Sorry to bother you. - signed comment from GoldenCelebi (pedia talknews talkarchives talk) 09:45, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
Looks like I never got to deleting the test pages after I moved all of the code to their respective templates. I've deleted them all now, thanks for the reminder. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 10:20, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Badges

...really, no one bothered to get these two? You need to add transparency, since Imageshack seems to hate transparency, or something. (Not exactly the greatest rip out in the world, but still far better than what we have right now. Icicle should be 126x126 while Trio should be 118x118) Uploader (talk) 15:55, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

The images used for the B2W2 Badges aren't from the obtaining screen, they're from the upgraded badge case, which doesn't display the Trio Badge or Freeze Badge. We can probably use the Freeze Badge image you've supplied, but image of the Trio Badge seems rather choppy. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 10:54, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Mewtwo

Can you move the Mewtwo (anime) page since the talk page had a clear consensus on its new name, like the other {{OBP|Mewtwo|Best Wishes series)'s page, as the former has the page move-protected for non-staff members? PattyMan 21:07, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

I have much more pressing matters to attend to first, unfortunately. It will have to wait a little longer. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 10:54, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
Very well then. PattyMan 17:16, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Name change

Could you please change my username to Neal Cruco? I can't for the life of me remember why I chose such a stupid username, but Neal Cruco is a common online alias for me, and I'd really like to be known by that name here as well. Also, my current username sort of glorifies cheating, which slightly bothers me. So, is this allowed, or do I have to qualify somehow first? Thanks. I should be able to handle your rename sometime in the coming week. I'll let you know when I have an opportunity. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 11:12, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Kalos Gym Leader Vs. Screenshot

Can I upload screenshot from my 3ds the VS. Screens of the Kalos Gym Leaders and Elite Four?

That image seems quite clean. Before I can give any approval, however, I do need to know specifically how you took such a screenshot. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 14:30, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

I must say, I'd certainly had preferred you give me more than five minutes before moving onto another staff member for a decision on which of the three to use. Otherwise, I do agree with Maverick Nate on the cleaned crops being the ideal version. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 11:12, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

X and Y Sprites

Hi Kogoro how are you! I wanted to ask if its as OK To upload the sprites from Pokémon X & Y from the PokéWiki (...I guess. don't ask me how they got them since I don't know). I look forward to your answer Cheers! --LHakaLH (talk) 17:16, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Asking on my Archives talk page is more than sufficient, I've replied over there. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 11:12, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Why am I blocked from Bulbagarden Archives?

I was going to update Shauna's sprite, but then it turns out I am blocked from the archives. And your reason for blocking me was "Failure to comply" to the messages from the council. And my menusprites were deleted. Can you tell me what's going on? SeanWheeler (talk) 23:32, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

After a thorough check was done on multiple files you uploaded, your menu sprite files were found to be the exact same ones as used on Serebii. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 23:48, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
So? Of course they would look similar. They were ripped from the same game. Our Bulbasaur menu sprite is the same as theirs. Especially when there are times when they are not animated like the PC boxes. Also, I couldn't find Mega Charizard X's menusprite on Serebii. How can I take sprites that would not be on Serebii and be accused of stealing from Serebii? Logic please? And sorry about messing up on the trainer sprites. They were a lot harder. SeanWheeler (talk) 02:25, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
It's not that they look similar, they're the exact same files down to the least important bytes of data. We tested multiple standard menu sprites you uploaded and got the same results against the files uploaded on Serebii's site over a week prior. As for the Mega Evolution menu sprites, we have little choice than to err on the side of caution when multiple files from a single uploader are exact matches against another fansite's files that were uploaded a significant duration prior. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 03:07, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Okay fine. You caught me. I've been very dishonest this weekend, so now it is time to come clean and confess. I really hate it when a situation forces me to lie. Lying just delays the inevitable and lying to someone who caught me would make it even worse. Yes I did steal from Serebii. I was tired of seeing question marks for Kalos Pokémon. I first took Chespin's sprite and tried to upload it but the Archives were still closed. So I had to wait for the archives to reopen. And when they did, I uploaded them. In the middle of the process I read the messages from the council. The message did say "screenshot" and not "sprite", so I thought I found a loophole. And after Talonflame was uploaded, Chosen asked me where I got the sprites. I was afraid that if I told him I got them from Serebii, my sprites would get deleted and I might get blocked, so I just told him about the photoshop process. But I didn't have photoshop. I downloaded GIMP later that evening. After the new Pokémon menu sprites were uploaded, I got requests to upload the Mega Evolution sprites, the female forms of Meowstic and Pyroar, and the revamped sprites of old Pokémon. I couldn't find them on Serebii so I looked at Marriland and the Pokémon Wikia. I found the mega evolution forms on the Pokémon Wikia along with the revamped sprites. But I couldn't find the female Pyroar or Meowstic. I also decided to take only the X Mega Evolutions and not the Y ones for realism purposes. As for the trainer sprites, they were done with GIMP. Yeah I really worked on the Lass and Shauna. And the quality of the results might have given away the fact that I didn't really do those menu sprites. Now where I got those Trainer sprites originally, well the Lass was originally our prerelease Lass picture. And Shauna was a picture taken of GCPM11's let's play of Pokémon X. The Lass and Shauna took so long to work on. And after trying to take a Chespin menu sprite from YouTube, it turns out that when it is cropped to the right size and the right amount of pixel space, the sprite ends up being blurry while Serebii's sprite was very clear with every pixel perfect. Right now, I'm trying to find a Pokémon X emulator that doesn't make me looking at a site that WoT rated in the red zone. And hopefully I would make my own let's play. You would be able to tell it is me because my YouTube user name is Sean Wheeler and I will make references to what happened with the Archives. Man this weekend was not my best. I'm very sorry for lying to all of you. SeanWheeler (talk) 16:26, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
By the way, do you know of a [removed] that doesn't have any sort of malware? I'm not having any luck. SeanWheeler (talk) 17:07, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Not only it is prohibited to talk about these things, there isn't any such for 3DS yet so it's pointless to search. Uploader (talk) 18:33, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Well, guess I'm not uploading XY related images. Even after my block ends. :( I'll just leave it to the admins and users that have the game. SeanWheeler (talk) 21:50, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Voice actors

OK, you can certainly nail me on Season 1-6, but at least hear me out on Rebecca Honig and Karen Neill. Both were credited within the episode-specific Seasons 7+8, but those two actresses are ordinarily very low-key. Unless you've got an undeniable source at the ready I can't trust it. I've already tried to ask Kenji-girl about her knowledge of Carol Jacobanis to no avail, and she's a similar case. Additionally, kenji was wrong about the role done by Michelle Goguen, instead attributing to Beck despite what the cast list said without any consideration of Goguen's presence (or that Beck wasn't there, either).

Back to my point, what is the source that PAK Man found for Honig and Neill, because if you don't have a source and just use a known role to guide your way that's flat out hypocrisy on the site's part. I ask this especially because there's a Sonic X role (Tikal) attached to Neill that sounds way too much like a non-Neill, pro-Honig role (Claire) given the evidence that everyone else out there seems to completely ignore, and I want to see that recognized if for no other reason than the actress' sakes. I don't just use sound-alikes, I do employ logic (again, episode-specific credits), so I hope that Claire being Honig can be recognized, (and hopefully Annie Proctor being Goldish, too).

Just know that sometimes, you have to take matters into your own hands to see something through. Rosebr10 (talk) 22:46, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

You can't add or change VA information based on sound, even if the VA is credited as having a role in the episode. Even with the after episode credits, it's far too easy for an error to be made when using a sound basis. We've had mistaken crediting before, and most mistakes will have been repaired through our contacts who work on the English Pokémon dub. Such problems are the reason why we have become more strict regarding source noting for VA information. In regards to Kenji-girl, I believe she is rather busy with off-site matters, so responses from her may be severely delayed.
I do not personally know the sources for information added by PAK Man, and I am not able to contact him to seek out his sources. If you can find a source that any existing VA information is incorrect, you are welcome to change the information as long as you provide the source material. While our policies are stricter now, we cannot reasonably purge off information from before the policies were changed without fair reason to doubt their accuracy. "Sounds like" is not a fair reason, nor is it an accepted reason for any VA information change.
I hope you understand. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:44, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

Edict?

Hey Kogoro, I was curious about the Pokémon Red and Blue edits. Are they an edict or something? I ask since you cited an executive decision in the edit summary for each edit. --Super goku (talk) 03:52, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Not an edict, simply a decision made by executive staff members in an effort to better serve our primary demographic. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 04:05, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
I see. (Just a question, but have there been any edicts since 2006 or is that page actually accurate? --Super goku (talk) 04:19, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
The edict page is pretty much depreciated. If a rule is added or changed these days, it gets added to the relevant policy or receives its own policy page. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 04:29, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
Just a question, but couldn't we make the 2006 edict a simply policy and make the page a list of edicts turned policies? Or would there be cases where an edict would be better than a policy? --Super goku (talk) 04:59, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
The edict from 2006 is part of the manual of style, so it's already established policy. The list of edicts is likely a page that we'll eventually be deleting, in favor of using the Messages from the Editor to announce major changes and simply updating policies accordingly. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 19:49, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Friend Safari Availability

Forms should get noted, yes, and it's better to do so in the area cell rather than in the rarity cell. The slot number isn't needed on the species pages. I'll set up an example using the new template ideas when I have some time. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 04:23, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Pokemon Animation error cisis

Hello, Kogoro. I have a question that I want to tell you for moment. Is that true the women's eyeslashes can disappear, and counts as an animation error as well? Also, is that true the women's lipsticks can also disaappear and counts as an animation error? More, is that true the black dots on the pupils can dissapear and have double white dots on each pupil? Can the character designs change the light, normal and dark color or can be messed up totally? Because everyone thinks they are not errors but some nitpicking. Do you believe that the women's eyeslashes disappearing counts as the animation errors? I need an anwser. Pikachu65 10:55, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Please, decide already whether if the eyeslashes and lipsticks are errors or not. Pikachu65 21:33, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
First of all, please learn to have some patience. The members of the staff all have lives away from Bulbapedia, and there will certainly be times when a reply will be delayed because of it, being impatient and pushing for a response is very rude. As for your errors question; we do not need images of every miniscule animation inconsistency that happens within an episode. Eyelash "errors" are more likely just a production time-saver, as you have found them happening constantly in extremely short scenes, they really do not need to be noted. Missing lipstick can be noted on the article, as it is a mistake, but such errors do not need an image if there's more important animating issues within the episode. I have no idea what you mean by "double white dots" in a pupil, but I highly doubt that they need images either. In general, the only errors that need images are major issues, such as a clear miscoloration or too many/not enough body parts. This is noted in the Bulbagarden Archives manual of style. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 04:23, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Aha... Then Keiji-girl must anwser me about this too. But I do believe they'e still errors, not significant errors. Eyeslashes disappearing are not significant errors, they are real! Officer Jenny's disappeaing lipstick also counts. On the other Animes this also repeats, and I'm not lying, everyone is adding it without being the significant errors. http://s1097.photobucket.com/user/Keroromaniac/media/Keroro%20Gunsou%20and%20animes/Eyeslashes_zps809ab239.png.html?sort=3&o=1 Jessie's missing lipstick can be accepted, but why not Officer Jenny's? The same goes to Pikachu's nose and Dedenne's. Sometimes the people's throats can have the same color as for the Pokémon. http://s1097.photobucket.com/user/Keroromaniac/media/Keroro%20Gunsou%20and%20animes/Throats_zpsaa1c0f55.png.html?sort=3&o=0 I think it's not true. Name change

(I tried to post this a few days earlier and it refused to go through, let's see if it works now.) So, uh, according to the related log, it seems the name change tool has been working again for some time. All the way back when I still was active on a daily basis, I remember was promised a name change to Soulweaver once the tool would be fixed (the only reference I can find is this - which seems to refer to somewhere other than any thread in the public wiki forum - but I am quite sure of it). I won't blame anyone for not remembering to fulfill that promise but it seems an user by the name I wanted was created in 2011. They have never made a single edit, but it obviously complicates things.

So, I'd like to get the promised name change but how would it work out given the above problem? Soulweaver (U.S.) (about me · chat · edits) 11:05, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Before I can transfer the name to you, there's a few things I have to do with the account that currently has the Soulweaver name. I'll be getting to that right after I handle the rename request below. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:39, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Thank you so much :) I assume the main userpage and talk page under the old name will be reserved as a redirect, but what about the subpages? Should links to those be fixed and the redirects removed? If so, I could work most of that out myself but I believe I need a permission first since that will involve editing others' pages a bit as well as probably going against the userspace three edits limit. (Plus I can't touch the talk archive which is linking to my head template, so I'll need help with that.) Soulweaver (U.S.) (talk · edits) 19:21, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Okay. I already had all redirects with only one or none at all unlinked and marked for deletion (i.e. mostly talk page redirects), but I'll leave the other links intact until another reason to edit those pages exists then. Soulweaver (talk · edits) 00:22, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Pokemon Conquest Moves

Hello. Over the next while I had planned to increase the site's coverage of the moves in Pokemon Conquest. Aqua Tail (move) had a table in place that I figured was good and copied over to a couple pages. Then I found a site that hosts images ripped right from the game that show the layout of moves, such as this one here. Currently the move's hitbox is expressed through a table. Should I upload these images and use them, or stick the table? Drake Clawfang (talk) 04:44, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Stick with the table. It's cleaner, more consistent with the infobox, and it's often better to use a table over an image when possible. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:21, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Will do. Thanks. Drake Clawfang (talk) 06:06, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

New party templates?

While editing the Twitch Plays Pokémon page, I noticed that it was using a new form of Party template created by you, as well as a variation for Tag battles. I wanted to know if there's a reason why these new templates aren't being rotated in. Since their last edits were December 6th, I would assume they would be finished by now? - Chosen of Mana 13:30, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

The new templates are complete and ready to replace the old template. We're going to be organizing a full-on replacement project very soon. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 19:58, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
I don't suppose the current stream of edits to party templates are part of this project? If so, would it be possible to apply these new templates to party "pools" like the NPC player characters from Generation V and Miror B.? - Chosen of Mana 15:15, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
The large-scale replacement of party is the project. All uses of the old template outside the userspace & all talkspaces should be replaced with the new single or tag variants. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 20:43, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Question about the new Party template

I hate to be a pest, but if you do see something I'm missing, please feel free to tell me so I can start helping out with the Party to Party/Single change. regards, Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 23:05,2/18/2014 (UTC)

You need to put a call of between the third and fourth Pokémon. The div template has only one parameter "color" which should match the "color" parameter in single template, or the "color2" parameter in the tag template. Instructions for using the new party templates can be found on the respective header's talk page. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 23:13, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
Thank you. That fixed everything. So simple yet I missed it..... *sigh* Well, now I know. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 23:17,2/18/2014 (UTC)

Moveentrytm

Hello! Crystal Talian directed me here, saying you're better with templates than her. Could you update Template:Moveentrytm? The Forces of Nature's respective Incarnate Forms link to a nonexistent header on the Form differences page. It's attempting to go to the header named 'Kami trio,' but the header on the page is called 'Forces of Nature.' I would change the link myself, but I'm not an administrator.

Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 03:02,2/22/2014 (UTC)

I just checked the abuse filter logs, and the filter triggered was not related to usernames. Nothing to worry about there. The filter that was triggered, however, appears to be activating when it shouldn't be. I'll pass the report on for repair, and I'll let you know here when things should be fixed. Thanks for letting me know. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 03:39, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
Alright thanks. At least this means it's en route to being fixed. And congrats on the EIC position. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 03:45,2/22/2014 (UTC)

Major Clean-up

We'll look into this. If the links need to be removed, BulbaBot should be able to do it. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:01, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

When that policy page was made, I don't believe we covered Korean names as much as we do now, and the page is a little out of date as. We'll look into romanization guidelines for Korean information, and get that added to our policies as soon as possible. Other languages will also be looked into.
As for categorizing where in other language entries are missing, it's likely not reasonable to do, it would require far too many calls of rather resource heavy condition statements. With the mass of pages that the template is included in, all of those condition statements would probably cause more problems than the idea is intended to fix.
I don't think there's much need for a specialized languages project as we already have Project Globe which covers global content. The "In other languages" sections would more than reasonably fall under the scope of that project.
Bulbapedia is written in American English in the main content spaces. Both American and Commonwealth English are fine in the userspace and on talk pages.
I hope that helps. If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 12:29, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying. I guess I could just join Project Globe or "freelance" if I want. Not to mention fixing my "perfectionism" issues, lol. AegeanKnight (talk) 13:00, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

Typo in template

Template:Rotating art has a typo in it. The last sentence should have "click" right after the comma. I can't edit the page myself, so could you or someone else fix this? Neal Cruco (talk) 01:42, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

Force Fire has fixed it. Thanks for letting us know. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:26, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

Another image that hasn't updated.

First off, thanks for fixing the other image, it seems to be fine now. There is one other image that I also uploaded: YGlitchNameC1.png (archives). Just letting you know, hopefuly you can fix it. --Pokechu22 (talk) 05:36, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Should be fixed now. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 17:29, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

What sites have a limit of 50? Provide examples, please. The error image limit is 5 because we don't need to bog the pages down with unnecessary images of super-minor errors, and that isn't changing. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 03:29, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
Like Wikia, it haves more error pics and no other site. Pikachu65 17:09, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
We are nothing like Wikia, nor do we strive to be like them. We have higher standards. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 22:13, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

PattyMan 23:57, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

If something like that happens to you on the forums again, just report the post & the staff of that forum will handle the issue. I can assure you that appropriate action has been taken regarding Adamant's actions against you. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:17, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
Thank you. PattyMan 01:32, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

Template edit requests...

On the talk pages for the templates...

...I have requested that simple edits be made.

The first two templates are heavy use, so they'll have to wait until a low traffic period tonight. As for the third, is there any reason you felt it was proper to split a large segment off of another article with absolutely no discussion attempt on the original article's talk page? - Kogoro - Talk to me - 00:44, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
Be assured: there was reason. In part, the data structure pages are pretty apparently low interest overall, so I feared I wouldn't get any discussion (or never enough to "count"). (And to be clear, I did, in my way, try to start a discussion, even if I might have been naive to think merely doing that was or should have been enough.)
More importantly, though: there's ZERO reason the character encoding should be confined to the save data structure page and plentiful reason for it to be its own page.
I don't think I was wrong to make the decision I did, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I think I made a good judgement, and I think that's enough. Am I wrong about either of those things?
I do intend that the other sections about encoding on the other save data structure pages be split as well, but for the time being, I'm (kind of) trying to focus on Gen III data structures. Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:38, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
When adding a template like split, you should start the discussion on the talk page as well. Outlining your rationale for the changes will make it easier for people to agree or disagree with your thoughts. Edit summaries don't allow for detailed explanations.
I won't disagree that a split would be a good idea, however, whether an idea is good or not, or if the subject is high or low interest, doesn't mean it should not be given proper chance for discussion. This was a major split, and absolutely should have been discussed before being done. You should not have split the article until a proper discussion had taken place, nor was it your decision to make.
You're more than welcome to start discussions regarding splitting them. But please keep in mind that major changes need to be discussed. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 03:16, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
I would like a hard number then, if you please. What's the "proper" time for discussion? Is it too much to hope it's something less than a week? Please don't tell me it's more...
If no one has responded after the "proper" time, am I free to do as I please?
If one person immediately agrees can I do it? If one person immediately agrees and 24 hours have passed? ...48 hours? ...Or do I have to wait the whole "proper" time? Is there any sort of threshold of people who agree whereafter I could take immediate action? Say, if a dozen people agreed? More? Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:34, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
There's no exact time that makes a discussion proper, but a discussion should be given at least a week or two to go somewhere. And a discussion shouldn't end until a reasonable consensus has been reached and the staff have been given time to review the idea and the discussion.
If nobody has responded in the one to two week time, you should take the matter directly to a staff member. We have hundreds of edits per day, and we simply can't be absolutely everywhere all the time. Unfortunately, that means that an edit gets missed here and there.
No. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 04:04, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
Can I not just take it immediately to a staff member then, so they can immediately (or sooner) turn it down if it's going to be turned down, or else give their blessing supposing others agree or no one comments? And who would be best? Just whoever is head of that section/subject? On their talk page? Or maybe I should try one of the forum threads (though I had little luck there for the templates above...). Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:19, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
The reason for public discussions is to allow the public to voice their concerns or support regarding major change ideas. While the staff retains a level of editorial control, we want to do our best to live up to our motto "The community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia." While not everyone will get their way, they still deserve the chance to have their say. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 04:33, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
If a thing is going to be disapproved for incontravenable reasons anyway, then what exactly is the point of discussion? Why not know there's such a reason sooner rather than later? Is that too much to ask, at least? Just a "nothing blatantly problematic there" for starters?
Regardless of how you feel about me contacting staff early, let's just consider who I should contact at the "proper" time...especially if there's been no comment. Again: just take it to whoever heads that subject? Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:57, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
It's not reasonable to have a staff preview for every big idea. In general, if there's a significant issue with an idea, it will probably be caught pretty quickly after it's posted. We're putting significant effort into making it much more rare that an idea gets missed, including working through a backlog of ideas that got missed in the past.
As for who to contact when a discussion has either gone stagnant or has finished discussion, you can really contact anyone on staff and they'll hand it forward if it's not something they have the authority to handle. If you'd prefer, however, you can contact the EB head of the relevant section, or you can contact Zesty Cactus or myself with it. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:13, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
