Trivia
- Whirlipede is the only mid-staged Bug type that is not based on a cocoon.
Origin
Bulbanews has an article related to this subject:
Whirlipede, like its species states, is based on a centipede. However, its rolled up appearance and color scheme is more similar to that of an oniscidea or oniscomorpha. When in danger, these arthropods in these two orders will curl up into a ball. It also resembles a car tire.
Name origin
Whirlipede is a combination of whirl and centipede or millipede.
Wheega is a combination of wheel and 毬 iga (sphere).
