Main series
Drake is the only member of the Hoenn Elite Four to have appeared in the anime. His only anime appearance was in Vanity Affair.

Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire
Drake debuted in Vanity Affair. He is a member of the Hoenn Elite Four and a ship captain who has sailed all around the world. Drake has an Sailor under his command, and his first mate is Fitzwilliam.

After witnessing Ash and his Torkoal defeating another Trainer's Scizor, Drake met Ash and ashfr at a restaurant and invited them onto his ship. Once on board, Max asked Drake to show them his Pokémon, but Drake invited Ash to have a three-on-three Pokémon battle with him instead. Drake won the match easily, helping Ash realize that he had been overconfident recently. When TRT attempted to steal Pikachu after the battle, Drake blasted them off with his Salamence.

After Ash took his Pokémon to the Pokémon Center, Drake invited the group to dine aboard his ship. During the meal, Drake told Ash that he had become too overconfident once and lost many battles because of it. He explained that he eventually found concentrating on the match and freeing himself of "idle thoughts" was critical to being a strong competitor.

Pokémon Journeys: The Series
Drake reappeared in Looking Out for Number Two!, assisting Ash and Goh in finding a Kingdra for Goh's Project Mew Trial Mission in exchange for them helping him out in his treasure hunting hobby by investigating a sunken ancient submersible.

Drake is a ship captain, and has an entire crew under his command. His first-mate is Fitzwilliam. After witnessing Ash and his Torkoal defeating another Trainer's Scizor, Drake meets Ash and ashfr at a restaurant and invites them to his ship. Once on board, Max asks Drake to show them his Pokémon, and Drake invites Ash to have a Pokémon battle with him instead. Drake wins the match easily, helping Ash realize that he had been overconfident recently. When TRT tries to steal Pikachu again after the battle, Drake blasts them off with his Salamence.
Character
Drake is stern and often in deep concentration, which allows him to think clearly during a battle. He takes the time to observe his opponent's strategies, and he challenges out-of-the-box Trainers like Ash. Drake's strategy is dependent on which Pokémon he selects; for example, his Altaria's wings help it evade and land sneak attacks, whereas his Shelgon's high defenses make it ideal for tougher opponents.

After Ash takes his Pokémon to the Pokémon Center, Drake also invites the gang to dine on his ship. During the meal, Drake tells Ash that he too once got overconfident and lost many battles because of it.
He displayed calm yet furious ire against Team Rocket for attempting to steal Ash's Pikachu and showed no mercy when he sent out his Salamence to punish them and rescue Pikachu from their clutches, demonstrating Drake has no tolerance for Pokémon thieves.

Ruby & Sapphire
Drake is one of the Hoenn Elite Four members. He, along with Sidney, controlled a Regirock, acquired from the Desert Ruins, which helped in the battle between Groudon and Kyogre. This Regirock, however, fled from their control when Steven died from the stress of coercing the combined efforts of the Elite Four, Wallace, and himself, together with the other two Regis.
Drake and the other Elite Four members were called by Steven to help protect the Hoenn region from the battle between Super-ancient Pokémon (Adventures) and Super-ancient Pokémon (Adventures). Drake was initially stationed at Ancient Tomb as part of the plan to unseal Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. When the titans are unsealed, Drake is tasked with controlling Regirock alongside Sidney. The Elite Four, Steven, and Wallace all control the three Pokémon in three pairs of two and use their power to keep the power released from Groudon and Kyogre's battle from spreading throughout Hoenn. They manage to keep the power contained for several weeks, but the strain is too much for Steven and he eventually dies, causing the three Pokémon to lash out and flee. Drake later mourns Steven's death before his revival at the hands of Ruby's Celebi.

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire
Drake appears alongside Mr. Stone and Briney, and it is revealed that the three used to sail together. Drake assists Steven and Mr. Stone in preventing a meteoroid from crashing into the planet. Due to Drake's expertise on Dragon-type Pokémon, he is asked with assisting in investigating the cave paintings in Granite Cave. Afterward, they travel to Sea Mauville to use a machine called the Absorber to power a dimensional shifter that will transport the meteoroid to another location. The process is interrupted by Zinnia and her small army of former Team Magma and Aqua Grunts. The group attacks to steal and destroy the dimensional shifter, but a Hoopa appears and causes Sapphire and the shifter to be transported to somewhere else.

Ruby later arrives and manages to convince Zinnia to leave, but reveals that he stole a scroll from her when she wasn't looking. Ruby asks Drake for information on Super-ancient Pokémon (Adventures) so that it can be used to stop the meteoroid. Drake agrees and takes everyone to Meteor Falls, where Dragon-type users gather. On their way to Meteor Falls, Hoopa is attacked by Blaise and Amber, who manipulate it into summoning Groudon and Kyogre from their resting places. The two super-ancient Pokémon make their way to Maxie and Archie, who use the restored Red and Blue Orbs to revert Groudon and Kyogre into their Primal forms. To test Kyogre's new power, Archie has Kyogre create a giant whirlpool to sink the S.S. Tidal into the sea. After escaping and making their way to shore, Drake, Ultima, and Briney are saved by the Draconids and taken to Meteor Village to recuperate. As he rests, the Meteor Village Elder recognizes Drake as someone who trained in Meteor Falls in his youth.

Later, Drake, along with various people from around Hoenn, is called to Sootopolis City to assist in stopping Grand Meteor Delta, a giant meteoroid threatening to destroy the planet. When the plan to attack Grand Meteor Delta starts, Drake and the others have their Pokémon attack the meteoroid at the same time. This, combined with the might of Mega Rayquaza, successfully shatters Grand Meteor Delta into pieces.

Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire

Drake debuted in Vanity Affair. He is a member of the Hoenn Elite Four and a ship captain who has sailed all around the world. Drake has an entire crew under his command, and his first mate is Fitzwilliam.

After witnessing Ash and his Torkoal defeating another Trainer's Scizor, Drake met Ash and his friends at a restaurant and invited them onto his ship. Once on board, Max asked Drake to show them his Pokémon, but Drake invited Ash to have a three-on-three Pokémon battle with him instead. Drake won the match easily, helping Ash realize that he had been overconfident recently. When Team Rocket attempted to steal Pikachu after the battle, Drake blasted them off with his Salamence.

He displayed calm yet furious ire against Team Rocket for attempting to steal Ash's Pikachu and showed no mercy when he sent out his Salamence to punish them and rescue Pikachu from their clutches, demonstrating Drake has no tolerance for Pokémon thieves.

This listing is of Drake's known Pokémon in Pokémon anime:

Drake's Shelgon
Shelgon
Shelgon is the first Pokémon Drake used to battle Ash. Ash thought Pikachu's speed and powerful attacks would beat the slow Endurance Pokémon, but he did not take into account Shelgon's high defense. Drake's strategy was to calculate the damage from Ash's attack and wait until Pikachu was close enough. As Pikachu tried to use Iron Tail, Shelgon attacked with a powerful Dragon Breath and Dragon Claw combo, winning the round.

It reappeared in Looking Out for Number Two!, being by Drake's side for most of the expedition.

Shelgon's known moves are Double-Edge, Dragon Breath, and Dragon Claw.

Drake's Altaria
Altaria
For the second round, Drake used Altaria. Despite the type disadvantage, Ash chose Grovyle, thinking it would be able to use the ship's masts like trees. Still, Altaria won the round, winning the match for Drake.

Altaria's known moves are Take Down, Dragon Breath, Sky Attack, Aerial Ace, and Solar Beam.

Debut Vanity Affair
Drake's Salamence
Salamence
When Team Rocket tried to kidnap Pikachu after Ash's and Drake's battle, Drake was furious and unleashed Salamence on them. Salamence easily retrieved Pikachu and blasted Team Rocket away.
