Satoshi (Zensho)

Satoshi is the main character of the Pokémon Zensho manga and directly based on Red of the original games. Like his counterparts, he is Shigeru's rival. After he saves Shigeru's life from a falling pillar caused from their final battle in the Pokémon League, they renew their friendship and set out to capture Mewtwo.

- He shares his name with Ash Ketchum from Pokémon anime. However, he is based on Red, not Ash, so his name actually comes from the optional names from game, not the anime hero's name. If Pokémon Zensho was released in English language, he would possibly be named Ash, but the manga was never released outside Asia. A similar situation applies to Shigeru, Satoshi's rival and Haruka from Pokémon Chamo-Chamo ☆ Pretty ♪.
- He also shares his name with the creator of Pokémon, Satoshi Tajiri.
- Unlike in the games (where it is necessary to proceed), Satoshi suffers a complete loss against Shigeru in their second rematch after having all eight badges.
- As opposed to Ash's Pikachu in the anime, Satoshi's Pikachu in this version voluntarily used a Thunderstone on itself in preparation for the battle against the Elite 4.
