Walkthrough:The Isle of Armor/Part 8
Master Dojo
With your Urshifu now capable of Gigantamaxing, make any final preparations to your team, and head out onto the Battle Court for your final showdown with Master Mustard.
Mustard, as you would expect, leans heavily on his Fighting-type Pokémon, with some other threats thrown in for variety. He leads with Mienshao, which likes to utilize Fake Out on the first turn. You can circumvent this by using a Ghost-type Pokémon, thus being immune to it, or by using a Pokémon with the ability Inner Focus to prevent flinching (like, ironically, Mienshao). The other option is to ignore the flinch by setting up an X item here, either to boost your offense, give you the speed advantage, or to add some extra bulk. Mustard strongly favors physical attackers, so an X defense could be very useful.
Using a Fairy-type or Flying-type Pokémon is a great strategy, giving the type advantage over the Mienshao, Kommo-o, and Urshifu, although be wary of the Corviknight and Luxray/Lycanroc respectively which have a favorable matchup into you.
The temptation here is to use your Urshifu now that it can Gigantamax, although not only is there no requirement to Gigantamax/Dynamax it, you actually don’t have to bring it to the fight at all. In fact, if you chose to climb the Tower of Darkness for Single Strike Style Urshifu, it matches up rather poorly into all of Mustard’s team, not least his Rapid Strike Style Urshifu, which he’ll Gigantamax on its first turn in battle. That being said, if you want a big showcase finale to the Isle of Armor plotline, try and find opportunities for stat boosts early in the battle, or holster it until Mustard sends out his own and try to win the one-on-one.
Remember that you have the advantage of being able to heal and revive your Pokémon with items, and while this battle is undoubtedly tough you should be able to pull through.
After your victory, Mustard hands over his rare League Card as a reward, as the other attendees of the Master Dojo come out to congratulate you, and you all head inside to enjoy some Max Soup, ending the Isle of Armor story.
Now that the student has become the master, you’ve unlocked a few extras. There’s a new type of training called Restricted Sparring, a casual tee inspired by your rival from one of the Dojo students, and a gift Porygon with its hidden ability from Hyde after defeating Mustard for a third time. Mustard can also be rechallenged once a day, as can Honey, if you’ve gifted enough Watts.
Potbottom Desert
If you make your way over to the Potbottom Desert, you’ll see Klara/Avery training a Galarian Slowpoke for a potential rematch against you. Aware that they’ve been rumbled, they’ll hand over their rare League Card and scamper off.
