Walkthrough:The Isle of Armor/Part 7

Master Dojo

Enter the Dojo and you’ll be greeted by a familiar face - no, not Mustard, Honey, or Klara/Avery (although they’re all here as well), but none other than Hop. He’s been on the island researching more about Dynamax, and Mustard enthusiastically offers to house him at the Dojo as long as he’s on the island, an offer Hop gratefully accepts. ]] Mustard then reveals that Urshifu is capable of Gigantamaxing, but as it cannot stand the taste of Max Mushrooms it’s impossible to feed it the Max Soup required. Unless, of course, you add in the secret ingredient. The only problem is that Mustard can’t remember what it actually is. Hop reckons he’s read in a book that they enjoy honey, so he charges off to the Forest of Focus to find some.

Forest of Focus

Meet Hop at the entrance to the Forest of Focus from the Soothing Wetlands and he’ll suggest gathering nectar from Lilligant and Applin. Before you can do that though, you’ll see a rather forlorn-looking Petilil. It seems as though it’s been separated from its parents, and it falls on you to try and track down a concerned Lilligant. You can find it at the opposite end of the forest, next to the berry tree near the entrance to the Training Lowlands. Talk to Lilligant and it will agree to follow you back to the others. Lead the way back to Hop and reunite the parent and child. Lilligant will offer you some of its nectar as a thanks. Unfortunately, after a taste test it seems it’s not what you’ve been looking for, as it’s not quite sticky enough. Applin is next on the list, and Hop races off to find one.

Go to the back of the forest, and you’ll see an Applin waiting down one of the paths. Approach it and Hop will join you, but before you can talk to it properly it’ll roll away from you and hide. The logical place for an apple to hide is in a tree, so interact with the berry tree at the end of the path and the Applin will fall out, right onto your head, before rolling away again. It did, however, leave some traces of nectar on your head when it hit you. Sadly, this isn’t what you’re looking for either. Hop then has the startling realization that if we’re looking for honey, then we should probably be looking at Honeycalm Island. He immediately darts off following his incredible revelation, so make your own way there.

Honeycalm Island

Hop is waiting for you when you arrive at Honeycalm Island. He’s found plenty of Combee, but not the Vespiquen he was looking for. At this point his Power Spot detector goes off, and it appears to be reacting to the tree in the center of the island. Shake the tree and you’ll be immediately sucked into a Max Raid battle against a Vespiquen.

Unlike other Max Raid battles, you can use your entire party, and the Vespiquen does not give you the option to catch it after it has fainted. As Vespiquen is a Bug/Flying-type Pokémon, using strong Rock-type moves, especially while Dynamaxed, is a very effective strategy. After your victory a comb of Max Honey falls from the tree, and this is the secret ingredient you’ve been searching for.

Fly back to the Master Dojo, and once inside Mustard will reveal that he knew you needed Max Honey all along, and he was just testing you, as ever. With that, Mustard heads to the arena through the Dojo ready for a rematch against you, and Hop heads off to continue his research. You can now feed some Max Soup to your Urshifu so that it can finally become capable of Gigantamaxing - assuming you also have enough Max Mushrooms handy, of course. If not, defeat Max Raid dens to help them spawn around the island until you have the three needed to make the Max Soup.
