Friend Safari locations for Pokemon pages

I would really like to know the current status of noting Friend Safari on Pokemon pages. Has there been any progress since the update you gave two months ago? I'd like some response (from someone...) to my query on the Friend Safari talk page...

In particular, I want to know if it's actually impossible to satisfactorily note the Friend Safari, currently, on Pokemon pages. If it can be done, it should be, whether there's a new template in the works or not. I cannot fathom what a new template might do that the current template couldn't that would make it and only it acceptable for adding the Friend Safari. Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:46, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

As much as it should be listed, I believe the consensus is to wait for the new template. No sense doing work twice (I do, however, understand the concern with how long it is taking). Although the new template may appear ready, some staff members have a few concerns with the template. We're pushing this up in the communal to-do list immediately. I'm sorry if I'm not too much help here. I've been out of the game-loop for a while with my focuses elsewhere. MaverickNate 05:10, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
Can you direct me to someone I may implore to better effect then? "No sense doing work twice" is not a good reason. It's your (staff, I suppose) reason. If I could be allowed to add Friend Safari locations (in an acceptable format), I wouldn't care the least bit if, one day in and a quarter of the way through, the new template was approved and staff started inserting the new template, with Friend Safari locations.
What there's no sense in is keeping the wiki in a decidedly incomplete state when it can be complete. If staff don't want to do the work twice, let other people who don't mind do it. There should be several people around who would still be willing. Tiddlywinks (talk) 05:23, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
Not doing work over again is my policy. I was speaking for myself. Not the staff. I run a section with very few users contributing, and I like to make sure any and all help is maximized to the fullest, because I'll never know when it will be available again. I suggest going to either the Head of Games, as it's the game availability template in question, or the Editor in Chief, as the template in question is being worked on by her. I have no power in granting a temporary implementation into a section that isn't the TCG. MaverickNate 05:32, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

Name parameter

What exactly is the "name=" in the cardlist/div for? I noticed it's only been put in -EX listings for XY Series cards. glikglak 04:36, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

It is supposed to be used on anything with an image in the title of the card. Pokémon SP, Pokémon ☆, Pokémon-EX, etc. The title of each section is treated as an anchor for links, but as images can't very well be in links, there needs to be some way of textifying the names so that links work. The name parameter does this. Ex: Blastoise (TCG)#Blastoise-EX. These links are used on the card name sections of every card. MaverickNate 05:02, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Ran into a problem with blank Owner's Pokémon: the cards' infoboxes seem to link to "#_.27s_(Pokémon)", which I'm assuming translates to " 's (Pokémon)", but putting that in the name parameter doesn't appear to work. Also tried copying the whole ____'s but again, no dice. glikglak 20:08, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
I kind of forgot about this message. I'll try some things out and see if any of them work. MaverickNate 07:53, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Coins

Do the DP and BW theme decks and trainer kits not have an image for their coins for a reason? glikglak 00:02, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

While in charge, coins weren't something I cared about until recently. So their deck placement just wasn't ever updated. Additionally, our previous coverage on coins isn't as in depth as it needs to be, so it has been taking a lot of research so that we don't have false information spreading across the TCG section. I have a notebook with all the DP and BW coin coverage. I just haven't gotten all the necessary images for it yet. MaverickNate 00:50, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
Oh hey, you have a to-do sorta list at the top of the page, why didn't I ever look at that? Any plans on updating it? It'd certainly help me in finding things to do instead of just playing follow the leader. And in case your notes don't have it (and what prompted the question in the first place), Toxic Tricks has this coin. glikglak 03:56, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
That's the coin included in Explosive Edge: a Regular-sized, Black Chrome, White-backed Reshiram/Zekrom Coin. The coin included in Toxic Tricks is actually a Regular-sized, Gold Rainbow-Mirror Holofoil, Black-backed Reshiram/Zekrom Coin.
As for my to-do list, I'll probably update it again sometime. It's just been a while and it will take a bit of double checking to figure out what exactly has been finished since the last time I looked at it. MaverickNate 04:06, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
Gold? If you mean this one, then something's wrong. The one I have is not even remotely that dark of a gold; the Holofoil makes it tricky, but it's a plain chrome/silver or a very light gold. It's a lot closer to the black chrome one, which is why I thought it was the one. glikglak 04:30, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
That image is an image from the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, so your confusion is understandable. No Reshiram/Zerkom coin exists that is that deep of a gold color. Everything from Pokemon.com removes holofoil and makes everything a lot trickier. I need to go through BW Coins just like I have been with XY Coins and do a lot of chipping away and image replacing in order to make everything as detailed as it needs to be. Getting images is also a bit tricky because Mirror Foil scans terribly. Though, just to make sure, your coin looks closer to this image I just uploaded, yes? MaverickNate 04:41, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, that's it. Now I get why you didn't want to spend so much time on coins previously. glikglak 05:08, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, there's just a lot going on with coins. There's a lot of unintentionally misleading/incorrect information to sift through in order to be 100% correct with coins, and it's hard to give undivided attention to them when there is always a new expansion looming in the background. Newbie questions about images

Hi Maverick, I am new to this project and have a question about uploading an image of a card from the Pokemon TCG to that card's article. I contacted another user and was adviced that I contact an admin listed on the TCG project page. In an article about a specific card from the TCG, should an english version be used for the card image if one is available and is it okay to take that image from a third party site? To be more specific, would it be okay to take this image and replace a:File:MoltresexNintendoPromo31.jpg in Moltres ex (Nintendo Promo 31) with it? Furthermore, could I do it, technically, or does my account need to be autoconfirmed first? Regards. Gengar321 (talk) 20:49, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

In order to ensure quality of our images, for English cards, we require that they be either from the official site, or scans done on our own. I enjoy your interest in improving the TCG section, it's just bad practice to use other websites' images. We'd have to go through a large process of asking collector's cache for permission to use their card scans, and as their images aren't exactly as large of an improvement as we'd like to see, it's not exactly worth the time and effort to get images we'd have to replace later anyway.
As for being autoconfirmed, you have to be a user on the Archives for an undetermined amount of time and make a certain amount of edits there in order to upload over images. Hope that helps! MaverickNate 21:53, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the information. Since I don't own a copy of the card myself and an image of the card doesn't seem to be available on any official site, it's difficult to get a scan image of the english card. Gengar321 (talk) 11:51, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Merch Gallery and Things

Seems we don't have the Japanese boosters and some English boosters for the HGSS Series, as well the Call of Legends boosters. While I was looking through the Archives for them, I noticed unused expansion artwork and booster boxes. Should I start incorporating the official artwork into the article like on Unleashed and should the booster boxes be used in the gallery sections?

I also left you a message on the Archives about card scans. glikglak 23:38, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

No to the booster boxes. As for the artwork, I really only added those into the body of the information section when the actual text references them. The images would be out of place if there's no real reason to be shown outside of "hey look at this". There are better places for that. MaverickNate 19:08, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Article mainspacing stuff

What happened with this thread? I haven't seen any posts about other articles on here needing attention since February and the fact that a few of the recent discussed articles weren't resolved or anything. PattyMan 04:23, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

A change in the leadership means a change in certain practices on the wiki. The thread is no longer going to be used, and the pages left needing attention will be addressed in other ways. MaverickNate 06:12, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Brilliant Thunder Coin

Here is the Brilliant Thunder coin you asked for. Looks like its the Mega-Charizard coin from the Japanese half deck.

"First introduced"

I'm not interested in beating a dead horse if you're not interested in changing your mind, but for the record, "first originating in" is exactly as redundant as "first introduced" for the same reason I mentioned in my edit summary. That's all; I'll leave TCG stuff alone now. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 05:14, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

False. It is NOT redundant, and I will explain why. The placement/omission of the word "fist" when talking about release information has a very specific consequence of meaning. First is always included when a card has more than one print (which is pretty much every card, except for non-reprinted unreleased Japanese cards, and yet-to-be-released-in-Japan English cards...with one exception, which will be detailed out later). A statement saying "first introduced" or "first released" should always be used on cards that were first released in English before they were released in Japanese: Boundaries Crossed Black Kyurem, EX Sandstorm Anorith. On the flip side, "first originating in" is specifically for cards that were released in English (our highest priority as an English wiki), that first originated in a Japanese expansion: Dark Explorers Ultra Ball, EX Hidden Legends Magnetic Storm. Dragons Exalted Rayquaza utilizes both. Eliminating the word "first" is strictly reserved for situations where the card was released at the exact same time in both English in Japanese. As the card was neither first released or originating from an expansion, being simultaneous, "first" is removed: the entire Kalos Starter Set, every worlds promo such as Tropical Beach.
As a subject, the TCG is extremely strict in words and phrasing. Even just a slight miscommunication in card text can cause tremendous effects during the actual tournament scene, from warnings to complete game losses. Thus, I am extremely deliberate and specific with everything I write, edit, and do for the TCG section, and it is entirely shocking when an edit of mine, as the TCG seat of the Editorial Board, is reverted and removed when I very intentionally added it back in. I take all thoughts and suggestions into consideration when someone brings them to my attention; however, the times when they aren't brought to my attention and just dashed off with the undo button and an edit summary are the times that I find incredibly rude. Rude towards me as a person, because I'm seemingly not worth your time to write out a proper message the first time before a reversion war, and rude towards me as an upper level staff member, due to the lack of respect for experience and authority. MaverickNate 07:34, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
"First released" is not redundant, because something can be released more than once. "First introduced" is, because it is impossible to be introduced more than once. If you're insistent on "first" as a way of signifying things for tournament rules, may I suggest that "introduced" be changed to "released," since you seem to be intending them to mean the same thing despite their difference in connotation? (I apologize for my second edit; I didn't mean to be rude. I just thought, since you didn't mention it in your edit summary, that you had been editing a previous revision of the page and had overlooked my edit without realizing you'd undone it.) Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 07:50, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
More than one introduction is possible when you are introducing something to a different group of people. Painting a broad brushstroke, cards are first introduced in Japan, and then introduced later to the English card game territories, then introduced in Korea, then the European languages. Yes, 'introduced' here may seem similar to 'released' in meaning, but on our TCG pages, released is reserved for other contexts. Alternate words and wordings are specifically chosen in order to keep one word from meaning separate things in close contexts. MaverickNate 13:34, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Quick question

So, does the "5 people using a template in the userspace for it to be moved" rule include or exclude the owner? (I really want to optimize this template to not have to use 7 parameters, but I'm coming up short in ideas). Anyway, assuming it can be moved, Could I also add something like what I described here? Anyway, thanks for your time. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 21:35, 5/21/2014 (UTC)

Need some quick help

I need some help in updating the opening summary on the new SSB game since the information regarding the 3DS version is outdated now that the official release date is confirmed. -Tyler53841 (talk) 20:01, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

What I might be able to help with.

Okay, here goes. I must have over a thousand Pokémon cards, so I might be able to provide some English scans for cards that need them. I also go on PTCGO a bit, so if we need any information on that, I could probably get it. Also, I know of a piece of TCG merchandise that I don't think is licensed by the Pokémon Company. I can't remember all the details, but here's what I know: It's a cube-shaped object sold at Target stores (I don't know if it's sold anywhere else, but definitely Target stores in the US), it's pre-XY era, and it contains the following: two random repackaged figures from boxes (mine were Kyurem and Mewtwo), one random holographic card (mine was Entei), one random reverse-holo card (mine was Shinx), a bunch of assorted cards from the Black & White Trainer Kit and one of the World Championship decks, a DP-era booster (Mine was a Stormfront booster pack, I believe), and a BW-era booster pack (mine was a Dark Explorers). I'm not sure how to go about using this information, but I can go to Target and look at a few more of the cubes to see the variation (although since it's not official, it's probably completely random in terms of sets), and I can try to get an image. I also know of a YouTuber who opened one, if that's any help. Lastly, I can pick up wikicode pretty quickly if any templates need sprucing up. Sorry for the long message, and thanks for hearing me out! KYUREM'S ICE BLADE 18:14, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Oh, I know the box you are talking about! That's simply a third party repackage: an item including ripped apart theme deck pieces that they weren't able to sell, any random cards they have lying around, and old packs people don't typically want. There are many different types of these products, but since they aren't licensed and also aren't standardized in any sort with their contents, we ignore them on the wiki. As for card scans, most are a low priority. As long as we have an artwork for each different print of cards, it doesn't matter if they aren't in English or not. Scans aren't an area of information that will get lost forever if we take too long to do it (since anyone who has a collection can just grab the card, take a scan, and finish the work.) I won't say no if you want to do it, I just think there's better uses of your time. The PTCGO though, I think it would be cool if you were able to get information from there. We haven't entirely posted anything substantial since the initial interest in PTCGO a Generation ago, and we're seriously lacking. I don't have the time to focus on it, and if you were willing to do that, I would most certainly appreciate it. All the decks since BW (and some HS ones) have had code cards that unlock the deck online. However, in order to unlock the full deck (by automactically replacing old cards with different cards with each win), it has to be played with in the Trainer Challenge (Mind Wipe and Solar Strike are the only one I remember being finished, so they are good examples). I don't know if you buy theme decks and would have the codes, but if you don't, I do and would be willing to send the code your way if you wanted to work on finding out each deck's unlockables. The character pages need more information, and we should probably have a list of promotional cards that are available on there, since they are different than real life. We're just seriously empty in regards to PTCGO, and any work you would do is beneficial. MaverickNate 18:45, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
Ah yes, I know what you mean about the TCGO decks. I do have the Ice Shock and Cold Fire decks, but I appear to have lost the code cards. They're bound to be somewhere in my collection, but if not, I can save up my Trainer Tokens and buy them in the shop. I'll take a look at which decks need more information (I know there are some default decks you can unlock, but those might have already been filled out) and go from there. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! KYUREM'S ICE BLADE 03:18, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
Splendid! If you have any questions or need any help, don't be afraid to ask me and I'll see what I can do. MaverickNate 13:45, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Hey

Hey, its Tavis. It's been a while. Just remembered, do you think you could take me off the abuse list? CoolPikachu set me to abuse years ago shortly before he was kicked out. My bro and I simply edited each other's user pages without going over our personal limit, but for some reason, CP decided to tally my bro's edits onto my count as well. Thanks --Tavisource 08:19, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

I think it is entirely fair to remove you from abuse. Hold on a second. I'll take care of it. MaverickNate 13:54, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Furious Fists

Given how early the set has leaked, and that you have made a start already, are you okay with me making headway on the English conversion? ~~nuva-kal 20:56, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

Yeah! That would be fine. I haven't been able to get to much of it anyway, so it would be good if someone was able to. =] MaverickNate 22:59, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

BW77 & BW78

I'm a little confused: BW Black Star Promos (TCG). You undid my revision back to my first edit. You said "Yeah, if you're not going to bother reading bulbanews for this info, I'm not letting something not sourced from us get on here."

I don't understand, because I DID use the Bulbanews as source. I originally had it set to "Unreleased", and then I changed it to "Unknown cancelled promotion" (trying to keep it consistent with what is listed under DP54 and DP55) so that people wouldn't expect "Unreleased" to mean it will be released one day. You sent it back to Unreleased (my original terminology for these two promos). How is what I said not the same as what was on Bulbanews? Would you rather it be "Cancelled promotion"?

I am a veteran competitor and collector, and I felt like helping by correcting some misconceptions on Bulbapedia. I really enjoy the work you do on Bulbapedia, but if you want new editors to stay around and be productive members, try being helpful to them instead of sarcastic and condescending. It's unnecessary. 066-067 XY-P

Just thought I'd give you a heads up since I haven't seen a post on it :D

Lucario EX 60 Card Fierce Fight Deck

Released with Corocoro Ichiban on July 26th.

Product Page here: http://www.pokemon-card.com/special/coro1_xy3guide/

Comes with TWO XY-P promos:

Lucario EX 066/xy-p

oc8JNuF.jpg

Machamp 067/xy-p

1xLQO7q.jpg

Thanks for telling me! I somehow missed these promos. Due to how long ago they were actually released, I think it'd just be appropriate to have them added to the promo pages and getting things updated only. I'll take care of it. Thanks again! MaverickNate 14:42, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Sheen Holofoil in XY (TCG)

Hi Maverick, I'm currently editing to section for Holofoils, and adding in the information for different types of holofoils over the generations; would it be ok to use information from your currently-in-development sheen holofoil page? Additionally, I've bought three booster boxes of Korean XY and Wild Blaze boosters, so I found out that the holofoil for XY on is sheen holofoil from bottom left to top right, covering the image only (not the borders, etc)

Thanks! - unsigned comment from Ching Yeung (talkcontribs) <-sorry for that. Still rather new around here.

Feel free to use whatever you need! I made that page to replace the holofoil page eventually, so use it! Good job on the page. MaverickNate 15:41, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Rarity (editing)

Hi there, do you think that Promos, reverse holos, or fixed rarities should be added in the Rarity page? I think reverse holo doesn't really apply, but not really sure about the other two. Do you have any others to add? Thanks! Ching Yeung (talk) 10:15, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

I think those all could get a mention on the rarity page. There are enough details to warrant being listed I think. Feel free to add anything you feel appropriate to that page. It certainly needs the help! MaverickNate 18:12, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
I've added the fixed rarities, and will do so for Promos in a minute, but maybe reverse holos should be added in the Holofoil page instead? Or maybe the booster pack page - its mentioned there, but doesn't have any details. CY (talk) 08:04, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
I've finished with the promos, but I can't have an image in it since its way too large! Can I shrink it? CY (talk) 08:10, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Game version redirects on card pages

I've gathered you're pretty deliberate when it comes to TCG pages. So I was wondering if there was a specific reason that many pages (like Pawniard (Noble Victories 81)) use a redirected link (like Pokémon X) rather than pointing the target directly at the proper page and just customizing the text part (like Pokémon X)? Aren't redirects undesirable? Tiddlywinks (talk) 15:49, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Let me get back to you on this. I don't have the time to write out a complete message right now. MaverickNate 18:12, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
I'm going to postpone an answer on this until we work out a less convoluted template system. The way we want to use these link templates and the options these link templates provide do not work out well together. MaverickNate 19:59, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
I think I sympathize with that sentiment. OK. Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:16, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Korean Half Decks

Hi, I went to Korea recently and bought the Yveltal and Xerneas Half Decks, so I have the card list; however, I don't have permission to create a new page. Should I give you the card list instead? I'm happy to do that. Additionally, although it says on the pages of the Chesnaught/Delphox/Frogadier Half Decks that one card was removed to make room for another of the final evolutions, I opened the Delphox deck and it had an additional Braixen (supposedly replaced card) at the back, in a separate plastic 'wrapping'! Should I take a photo and send it to you? CY (talk) 12:15, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

I think it would be a good idea to list those decklists on the already existing pages for Xerneas Half Deck and Yveltal Half Deck. Unlike the beginning set stuffs, these half decks are simply the exact japanese release appropriated for the korean audience. I don't exactly know what I want to do in this situation quite yet, but if you were to write out the decklists here, I can add them to the page and give you an example of what to do in the future.
As for the Delphox deck, I'm rather confused with why that would have happened. When I bought the deck, there was only one Braixen, so I don't entirely know what's going on. I would love to see a picture, and if you could tell me if yours came with exactly 30 cards/what card wasn't included to have room for that braixen, I'd appreciate it. MaverickNate 18:12, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
Do you have an email address so I could send the photos to you? And I don't think the Xerneas and Yveltal Half Deck are the same - the decklist should be, but it doesn't have the 6 card additional pack, including the Clefairy/Pancham card. CY (talk) 15:18, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
The decklists should have the trainer cards in a different order, but that isn't something that makes the deck significant enough for its own article. as for my e-mail address: [email protected] MaverickNate 18:42, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
I checked the decklist, and its only that the Crushing Hammer and Great Ball are in the other place. Maybe I could mention that it doesn't have the 6-card pack? CY (talk) 06:56, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
Absolutely! Promos are always different in Korea, so it makes sense the pack isn't included. MaverickNate 14:45, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
I've edited it on the page. Did you receive my email? CY (talk) 14:52, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
I did! I'm wondering if they added it later, after noticing the two delphox couldn't evolve without another braixen. That would mean you got 31 cards though. That's weird, to be honest. Could someone else maybe have slipped it in instead of Pokémon Korea? I'm a bit concerned about the whole situation. MaverickNate 15:13, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
Are you sure you don't have an extra one? I could open the Chesnaught one as well to make sure. I know its weird too, and by the way that its in separate packaging, it must have been a last minute change. But why would a third party of any motivation to slip it in, if it wasn't Pokémon Korea? - unsigned comment from Ching Yeung (talkcontribs)
I definitely do not have one. I took a picture of all the cards laid out when I opened the deck last winter, and it only had one Braixen. We can definitely mention which cards are holo in the articles. We could also probably mention that they began including a 31st card in later issues of the product. MaverickNate 15:18, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
Should we find someone else (who may live in Korea) to check? I've never seen a such a situation before. I'd definitely count it as strange. Why add in a card last minute, especially when its after some of the products are already out and sold? CY (talk) 15:20, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
If you want to find someone, feel free, but I honestly think we have enough evidence to make this statement. I can see them fixing it though. It was an error on their part, and they wanted people who bought the deck to be satisfied with their purchase. Having a dead card in the deck isn't a good thing.
We've seen similar things like this happen elsewhere. Like corrected cards in later print runs of cards (Call of Legends Phanpy; Dragons Exalted Hoppip). In my observations, they like to fix issues that come up when they caused them. MaverickNate 15:25, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
I thought you might want a third person to give some hard evidence before changing it, but I guess its ok. I see no other reason for what happened, so it can't be too far off the mark. I'll change it when I'm free. CY (talk) 15:34, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
I'm just not the kind of person to try and ask someone to go spend money on a deck just to confirm an idea I'm having. MaverickNate 15:45, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
I meant to ask someone who has the deck. Anyways, I've changed the ones on Evolution of Froakie and Fennekin; however, I haven't changed the one on Chespin yet, since it says that there isn't a Snubbull. The wording would have to be different, and why was it a Snubbull in this case? Its all so confusing. CY (talk) 07:45, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
I've checked the Evolution of Chespin deck as well, and it really does have an additional Snubbull. Don't you find it funny how the other two decks remove the first evolution of the starter while this deck removes a completely irrelevant card? I've edited all three pages, so their up to date now. Maybe scan it in, but I'm pretty sure its fake - that's too big a difference to be a misprint. CY (talk) 03:11, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

do i scan the image then upload to this text box?

Primal Reversion

Sorry to bug you, but you were the first staff member I found that's online right now. Do you mind making an edit to Primal Reversion, so that Primal Kyogre's ability is Sea of Beginnings and that Primal Groudon's ability is Land of Endings? Thank you so much. Buffbills7701 (talk) 22:32, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

I took care of it! Thanks for alerting me to the needed edit. IF you need anything else, I'm always open. MaverickNate 22:42, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Team Flare Pokémon Tool cards

Hi Nate. Thought I'd run this by you before I start experimenting. For the Hyper Gear cards, I was going to do what we did with the Team Plasma cards: add a red border and a graphic to the right of the card title with "FLARE". With regards to the "Team Flare Gear" and "Team Flare Hyper Gear" subtitles, I'm not quite sure if we should just apply this to the main English title in small text, or to the Japanese text and translation below as well. This could either be done in small text too, or in square brackets like we did with Pokémon SP. Doing this may shove this onto another line with the "FLARE" graphic, though. This wasn't an issue with Rocket's Secret Machine cards, but since we already have the Item subclass, it's a different kettle of fish here... Let me know on your thoughts. Thanks. ~~nuva-kal 18:21, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

This is a tricky one. Looking at the English Press Release, it would appear they really are only considering the Team Flare Hyper Gear to be the only significantly different ones. The Team Flare Gear, Like Target Whistle and Robo Substitute I would assume would probably be most like Team Galactic's Invention G-109 SP Radar, but (hopefully) without the lengthened name. I think we could probably get away with just including that as Pokémon SP: including it in the Japanese names, and then the illustrator part. Team Flare Hyper Gear, however, are more different. hmmm. Maybe like Team Plasma Badge for the infobox, but the rule change being a TrainerText addition, since it is technically a new class of item, but then also including it in the Japanese names, and then the illustrator part. Does that seem appropriate to you? We can't do too much without knowing the english parts of things. We'll probably have to modify everything then again anyway. Merchandise templates for other languages

Now that the Japanese TCG Era merchandise pages are up to scratch, would it be worth making a jmerch template like the one we already have in place for English merchandise? We could expand this for other languages once we decide how to handle it (kmerch or intmerch, for example). ~~nuva-kal 08:38, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

I've so far made this for the bottom of each article. As for the previous/next at the top, and the merch template that links to products on specific pages, I have a feeling we're going to have to modify the ones that already exist and have them become workable for every language instead of just english. I have ideas for it, but I haven't thought them out completely. 1) Template:merch is such a non-TCG name that we may need to use elsewhere eventually when the merchandise section becomes developed enough. 2) I've been thinking of changing the template to [[{{{1}}} TCG {{{2}}} merchandise#{{{3}}}|{{{3}}}]] where 1 would be XY or Korean BW or German Diamond & Pearl, 2 would be Series or Era for Japanese, and 3 would be the product name. The product name is moved to 3. We can also start being more specific with product names, because of template {{anchor}} under every section, so Furious Fists Blisters, Furious Fists Three Pack Blisters, Furious Fists Two Pack Blisters, Furious Fists Single Pack Blisters, and Furious Fists Checklane Blisters all link to the same section.
The header, I haven't entirely thought about how to modify it at all. MaverickNate 16:11, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
How about modifying it to something called TCGMerch then? Your proposal certainly gives it more scope, and I'd be happy to give you a hand updating the current templates if this is the route to go down. ~~nuva-kal 21:23, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
I appreciate the offer! It will be an annoying undertaking, because of how much we've progressed since the days of the "Collector's Tins" and the "Value Packs and Sets" articles, but very much so worth it, in my opinion. I don't really have a time-frame in mind for doing it, but we could probably start right away on it. Possibly after we're finished with whatever happens with the Japanese update tonight. MaverickNate 01:02, 7 November 2014 (UTC)

In the TCG write-ups

I drafted up a few different ideas for the In the TCG sections for character and item pages. You said you don't much like the boxes, but if they could be collapsed they'd do a better job of listing all the reprints. If those are even relevant enough to be in the section. I also made a mock up for a general merchandise idea that I brought up on the forums awhile ago. Anything look good? glikglak 00:25, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Well, one of the reasons why we are opting to remove the table is that the reprint information isn't entirely important. The new intent for these sections is to be a brief summary explaining the person's role in the card game, what they do, their significance, etc. The more detailed information is for each specific card page. (And even there, each print is only listed for posterity's sake: it ends up getting hidden when it becomes too overwhelming to do anything with.) Each card's print is very basic info that doesn't really add any substance to the section; which is the kind of info we're trying to evolve from. I would really prefer not seeing the boxes there, if it can be helped.
As for the Charizard page, it has definitely been noticed and enjoyed. The concern with those is how to handle having these pages without much information elsewhere in the encyclopedia. It's definitely a nice start! I'll be bringing it up in the next Editorial Board meeting and I'll get back to you about it afterward. MaverickNate 03:03, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

e-Reader sections on card articles

As I've been going through some of the P Promotional cards, I've noticed were missing some of the e-Reader entries on these. I never realised there were four versions of Kecleon, each with a slightly different Pokédex entry on the Dot Code strip! This got me thinking: would it be worth detailing the card ID(s) somewhere on the card articles, or just for those that warrant it? I've also been thinking of adding an "e-Reader data" section for cards, which would detail the flavour text and incorporate those that already have applications detailed in the Trivia section. I'm not sure on how to handle this for Holofoil cards, since the flavour text is printed below the artwork, but the Non Holofoils have this as Dot Code data plus the Pokédex entry (those I have looked at seem to all come from Pokémon Crystal). ~~nuva-kal 21:23, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

I don't imagine we have to be extremely pedantic about how we list the info, but I think having it all would be pretty neat. Honestly, I believe having the entries just listed how we already list the entries would be fine (feel free to disagree though). As for the e-reader codes, we may have to do something about that, because there are other expansions with a similar issue. EX FireRed & LeafGreen, the code number in the bottom left, Commons have three different numbers and Uncommons have two. I imagine this is the same issue.
I think an e-Reader data section would be a good thing. I just can't think of a good way/reason to split up the Pokédex data between that section and the card text section without it being unnecessary. MaverickNate 01:02, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
I've updated Pikachu and Larvitar to what I had in mind. I think for cards that have Holofoil versions, I will just put the Pokédex data in the e-Reader section as per these articles and mention the species, height, and weight are present on them. ~~nuva-kal 14:44, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
Good ideas all around! I like it. And then you just moved right onto TCGMerch. Daaaamn. Sweet. MaverickNate 20:23, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
I've updated the first 3 cards from Aquapolis to the standard I had in mind. This covers most of the variation we will see. Let me know if it's a bit much, or if anything else needs adding. My only gripe is that the printed info on the card referes to length, and does not have leading zeroes in inches, or any decimals in the weight - it is referred to as height and has the data presented correctly in the actual e-Reader entry. I've left it as height in the section summary, and left the Pokédex data as it was originally. ~~nuva-kal 17:03, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
Oh, I don't think it's a bit much. All the info is there, and it looks nice. I think I would like to see this data about release information though, when applicable. As for length vs height. I looked up some rules team things, and I believe length is to be taken as height in every instance. Personally, I think we should leave the info as it is on the card, and not the "corrected" e-reader data. We can probably just note it somewhere on like, the set pages or something. MaverickNate 21:39, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
I'm more or less there with all of the e-Reader sections. There are still some I'm in the process of doing, and some I won't find out at all - I never realised the Battle Road 2002 trophy cards had Dot Codes! I'm going to spruce up the application articles too. I also wanted to do a list of the e-Card Series card IDs, but I'm not sure how much to put into the table. It warrants the English and Japanese sets, plus set numbers, but I'm not sure if I should include type and rarity as well. ~~nuva-kal 11:20, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, it sounds like Type and Rarity aren't entirely necessary. Whatever you'd like to do with this. You're the one with the knowledge and expertise right now with e-reader. MaverickNate 20:31, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Creating Subcategories

I would like to create a subcategory under "Category:Pokémon Trading Card Game Online" called "Online Exclusive Decks" not unlike the current subcategory "Category:TCGO characters". Current the Online Theme Decks are only subcategorized under "Category:Pokémon Trading Card Game Online Theme Decks" under "Category:Decks". It seems equally intuitive to look for them under "Category:Pokémon Trading Card Game Online". --Marlofkark (talk) 20:57, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

M Pokémon-EX

Is this what we're referring to them as now (as far as I've seen, official wording is spelling out Mega)? Should I start changing them? glikglak 03:03, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

It's the most official rulings-wise. I want to edit the infobox before we start doing any relinking. MaverickNate 03:28, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
Now that we have edited the instances out of the infobox, feel free to relink/move whatever to remove the hyphen. MaverickNate 07:54, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
Gotcha. As a heads up, I skipped over Gardevoir (as I had Trevenant) because I'm not sure if the opening should say "Psychic and Fairy Stage 2" (even though there hasn't been a Fairy-type Stage 2 Gardevoir) or just leave it as is. glikglak 23:42, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
We've "is a Mega M-Pokémon-EX" in the opening sentence for the cards currently. Do you want this "Mega Pokémon-EX" or "M Pokémon-EX"? glikglak 01:31, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
"is an M Pokémon-EX". MaverickNate 01:47, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
I guess the type comes before, so "is a Lightning-type M Pokémon-EX." MaverickNate 01:48, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
You'll probably want to be the one to move Category:M-Charizard-EX Mega Battle Deck cards glikglak 04:06, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

(resetting indent)Your unreleased XY page is the last thing using M-. I also readded the Mega stages. Can I start converting stuff to the Cardtext template or wait for the last few variants to be finished? glikglak 19:23, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

Oh we finished the variants and everything has been moved. Things could have been finished at the same time. Yeah, you can start. There are just a few awkward things that need to be addressed too, if you go through. The opening lines are being corrected. Some leave out the word card at the end. Others didn't have the stage listed. LV.X's seem to be all sorts of weird. If you go through normal cards, none of that should be an issue though. And secondly, cards that are reprinted in a second, different, expansion-pair need to modify their second opening sentence. It was first released as one/part of the whatever. in place of It is one/part of the whatever. (This is not applicable to things like EX's and Full Arts that are printed twice in the same expansion-pair--expansion-pair being my right now made up term for Flashfire/Wild Blaze or Next Destinies/Reshiram-EX Battle Strength Deck sort of thing. only for things that are like, first NXD, then LTR, or first XY3 then XY-P). If you have any questions, come back and I'll help. Also, if you find any other general errors on pages, feel free to fix. I'm trying to make as many widespread necessary changes as possible while we have to go through every card ever for the second time. MaverickNate 19:34, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
Black & White Series though XY whatever I didn't get to Series need to have their Ultra Rare Rarities fixed too. Full Arts are {{rar|Rare Ultra}} and Secrets are {{rar|Rare Secret}}. Phantom Forces and maybe Furious Fists are the only examples I remember that I managed to finish. MaverickNate 19:38, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
I'm assuming simultaneous Japanese releases are considered the same expansion-pair (Flashfire/Wild Blaze/M Charizard-EX Mega Battle Deck), but would the sentence get changed if their were only one English release and multiple Japanese releases? glikglak 19:53, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
We can leave the sentence as is for the second situation you described. Flashfire/Wild Blaze/M Charizard-EX Mega Battle Deck would also be an expansion-pair, so that situation makes the sentence stay the same. Secondly, if you run into any cards with Confuse Ray or Ominous Wind, their jtrans for the attack names needs to be corrected. MaverickNate 19:58, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
Thinking about it more, with situations like Neo Discovery Eevee (Neo Discovery 38), it would be more appropriate to say was first released as imo. The second situation you described should be modified. It doesn't come up too often. Some of these might need a case by case basis, such as most of EX Power Keepers. If you have any you don't know what to do, bring them up with me. MaverickNate 20:02, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
The Cardtext templates don't auto-add the applicable categories, e.g. Category:Cards with Pokémon Powers. Is this intentional and we add them manually? glikglak 14:30, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
I'm keeping track of what we need and I'll be modifying category names when we add them into the templates when the changes are finished. MaverickNate 15:38, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

(resetting indent)Do you have a preference on sentence structures for release info? I was trying to split them by unique print but stay in chronological order. Having one sentence paragraphs looks a bit strange, but I find it stranger that there's an entire paragraph on a Japan-exclusive print with a random final sentence about the original print getting more English releases. glikglak 16:14, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

I prefer to leave paragraphs breaks for when a card is reprinted outside of its first era. MaverickNate 17:45, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Machamp's release info is a bit different from normal, so I've left it alone. glikglak 22:02, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, there are certainly exceptions. I'd just rather there were more actuals than exceptions. MaverickNate 22:42, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
You lost me there. If the alternate holofoil isn't "really" an error, should it get removed from error cards? glikglak 01:12, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Error cards is an extremely terrible, awful page full of misconceptions and is horrendously incomplete and unresearched. Don't trust anything it says. (I just haven't gone through the 7 days of non stop research to fix that page). Removing it would just be dipping a bucket of water out of the ocean. MaverickNate 02:40, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Kakuna's Stiffen attack is two characters off from being Harden's Japanese name: is that another case of them using the other alphabet? Some of the trivia on there also looks hinky. glikglak 19:11, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
Well, no. Harden in game is kataku naru, meaning become harder/stiffer/tougher. the attack name for stiffen is katamaru, which means to harden/to stiffen/to toughen. Slightly different, thus Stiffen has been used as the translation as recent as Platinim Series. MaverickNate 16:44, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Categorizing Japanese Exclusive Decks

As you have seen, I begun to review the various Japanese Exclusive Decks, starting with Half Decks and now starting to move on to others. This leads me to a few questions.

  1. Full Decks seem to have very little rhyme or reason to how they were categorized as they were entered. Some a listed as "TCG theme decks", some as "Decks", and some as "TCG half decks". It seems like "TCG theme decks" is the correct category. Is this correct?
  2. The term "Full Deck" seems to be used most frequently in the text of the various deck articles to reference these decks, rather than "Theme Decks". Which term is preferred as the Bulbapedia standard? Or this there a distinction that I have not identified?
  3. Similarly, the term "Deck kit" seems to be used rather than "Trainer kit". Again, which is the preferred terminology?
  4. I just finished updating list of all Japanese exclusive decks on the Pokémon Trading Card Game article. I just followed the lead of whomever last worked on this section. However, as I turn my attention to the Theme Deck page, I see that the vast majority of what I just added to the Pokémon Trading Card Game article really belong on the Theme Deck page. The non-Japanese section of the Pokémon Trading Card Game article does not list decks at all, only expansions (except for Trainer kits, World Championship Decks, and Promotional Decks). Should there be a more consistent delineation between what info appears on which of these two pages? --Marlofkark (talk) 02:24, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
The correct term for "Full Decks" is most likely Standard Deck. Japan distinguishes Standard Decks and Theme Decks as two separate items, so they shouldn't be grouped together. The same goes for Deck Kit and Trainer Kit (which, much like Theme Decks, are to be treated as proper nouns); Deck Kit being Japanese and Trainer Kit being English. Ultimately, the categories should most likely reflect what type of release they actually are, be it Theme Deck, Half Deck, Starter Deck, Deck Kit, Standard Deck, etc. As for the main Pokémon Trading Card Game article, if I remember correctly, the plan is to have separate articles on each Series/Era of the TCG, and instead of having gigantic blocky lists on that main article, have an overview of what each separate group of releases by Series/Era had brought to the table (linking to the main articles via the sections). The things that you are working on, to be honest, I'm not entirely prepared for, so if things seem hard to decipher within the encyclopedia, I apologize. Your work is helpful, simply my advice might not be. MaverickNate 17:28, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
I appreciate your direction. You decoded things very clearly. Clearly as mud! :O (Nay, I'm I just joking on the mud part). --Marlofkark (talk) 18:59, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Well, I believe the Japanese exclusive decks are now sorted correctly both by category designation under Category:Decks and on the Theme Deck page. 1.) There still may be a few miss labeled decks that slipped through the cracks but I believe I have caught them all, 2.) I still need to audit the Half deck page verses the now more up-to-date Theme Deck page, and 3.) I intend to create separate pages for the various Japanese exclusive deck types (using the Half Deck page as a template) so as to cut the Theme Deck page back down to a reasonable size -- I just temporarily needed a single location on which to organize. However, after spending several straight days wrangling all these decks, I need a short break from Japanese exclusive decks. --Marlofkark (talk) 13:59, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Category:Pokémon trading card classifications

As I am sure you noticed, I also spent some time this weekend poking around TCG categories. In so doing, I discovered that Category:Pokémon trading card classifications does not appear under Category:Pokémon Trading Card Game. There does not seem to be a reason why this should be the case when I look at the source data on the Pokémon trading card classifications's category page or follow the category link on Pokémon trading card classifications. Very odd. While I had seen some of the articles listed therein before, I was surprised to find so many articles that I had not previously discovered because the subcategory was undiscoverable under the Pokémon Trading Card Game category. Just thought you should know, because I am sure it is something that can be and probably has been easily overlooked. --Marlofkark (talk) 13:59, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

I'm sorry I'm 11 and this is a nooby question:

Hi I'm Ethan and im eleven (twelve on February 3rd).What is the difference between a normal card and a holographic card? Some of my cards I think might be holographic but I'm not positive. I don't know that I know what that means. I couldn't understand any of the articles I read about them and I was wondering if someone could explain it to me. Also, is the card Plusle with the black promo star rare? It has little light reflector things that look like they are moving when you look at it from different angles, kinda like broken glass. It has HGSS16 by the black promo star. I also don't really understand what the promo thing means, or any of the rarity symbols except for the black circle, black diamond, and black star. I'm sorry about the nooby and unexperienced question and im not expecting an answer since you have a whole section of a wiki to run, but If you have time, please answer my question. Sincerely 608_esaj

(608 esaj (talk) 23:08, 30 January 2015 (UTC))

Hi esaj. Holographic cards (what we call Holofoil cards) are cards that have the light reflecting film on them, like your Plusle. Usually, when we call something a Holofoil card, we mean that it's always holographic, but most cards have a regular version and a special Holofoil version (where the whole card will be reflective, not just the picture; we call it Reverse Holofoil).
Holofoil cards are rarer than regular cards, but the symbols on the bottom aren't always different. The symbols they use nowadays are Common Common, Uncommon Uncommon, Rare Rare, and a silver version of the star (the black symbols are actually white on Dragon and Darkness cards, but they're the same). Cards that are always Holofoil will have either the regular star or the silver star. If it's the regular star, we call it a Rare Holo Rare Holo; if it's the silver star, we call it either Rare Holo ex Rare Holo ex (if it's a PokémonEX), Ultra Rare Rare Ultra (if it's a Full Art card, where the picture covers the whole card) or Secret Rare Rare Secret (if the card has a number above the total number of cards in the set, like 101/100). Cards that have a regular and a Reverse Holofoil version will have the same symbol of circle, diamond, or regular star. Promos don't have symbols on them but are very rare, since you can't find them in booster packs and have to go to certain places or buy certain things to get them. glikglak 00:54, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Just wanted to let you know this http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Celebi_(Triumphant_92) is the Celebi is the one I was talking about. Thank you glik glak but I still don't really under stand reverse holos. I have a Celebi with 60 hp that does 30 damage and the card has some glittery stuff on the edge of the card, as well as in Celebi's eyes and in the background. Three things: one is that im wondering if this is a reverse holo or a normal holographic card and the second is that this one has a white star in the corner even though it's a grass type and third is there are two numbers by its name (92/102). So what do those numbers mean? Oh and I also have a Suicune with 80 hp that does 50 damage. It's a promo from heart gold and soul silver with the number 21 by it, like my Plusle except my pluses number was 16. Anyway, the Suicune has the same glittery design as my Celebi. Is it a reverse holo? I also have a Ditto that has the part where the moves are listed metallic and shiny but the picture with Ditto in it is plain and so is the yellow outline. Is that a reverse holo? Then I have a Nidoking who has the background in the picture glittery but not the pokemon itself or the outline of the card or anything else. Is it holographic or is it something else? And also what does the shadow or no shadow or whatever mean because I have 2 Cards with some sort of Asian language on it (from what I've read probably Japanese or Korean) and they have some shadows that I saw circled on a website with an articuno and I don't know if that's rare or not. I also recently bought an XY- Phantom forces expansion and inside the box was a card list. In the key of that card list were some things I didn't understand like what is a standard set, a standard foil set, or a parallel set. What is the difference between a level X and an ex? I'm sorry I know that's a lot of questions but I really like pokemon I just don't understand it that well. I want to be one of those kids who has a 1000 cards and can tell people about how rare they are. I know it probably won't happen because I don't have nearly enough money to buy 1000 pokemon cards but that's still what I want. With $6 a week allowance I can buy one of those box things with 60 pokemon every 2 weeks and then I can start buying more valuable cards off eBay and Amazon and stuff. Anyway, thank you for answering my holos question. I actually ended up writing the answer down so I don't forget. Sincerely 608 esaj (talk) 12:56, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Can someone tell me if this Sudowoodo is fake? I think it is because of different font, more yellow rim on one side than the other, the back looks darker, and the first letter of the illustrators name is lowercase. I put a Venonat next to it to compare. Also the Sudowoodo is very flimsy and bends easier than the Venonat. However there are no spelling mistakes and light does pass right through it.608 esaj (talk) 18:31, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Lol I took 2 pictures of it but I don't know how to show them here 608 esaj (talk) 18:32, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

The easiest way to find which cards you have is to look on the Pokémon's list of cards, like Celebi (TCG). Even if you don't know what set it came from, the set numbers should be enough to figure it out (the numbers at the bottom right of the card; the first one is the number of the card and the second is the total number of cards in the expansion). Reverse Holos are really easy to tell because the whole card background reflects (some older cards had the background and the picture reflect); if only certain parts of the card reflects, it's not Reverse Holo. The white star was what they used before the silver star and like the silver star cards, we use a couple different symbols for them. Chances are your Sudowoodo is fake, the biggest reason being that no artist that spells their name lowercase has drawn a Sudowoodo card. I don't know what you're referring to about the shadows or the Phantom Forces card list, unfortunately. glikglak 20:09, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
The artists name on the questionable Sudowoodo is (and this is exactly the way it is on the card) kouki Saitou. The set number is 48/100. And I did some research and what I meant with shadows was shadowless cards but I understand them now. Also what's the difference between a level X and an ex card? And also what do you mean by the background. I know that's a really stupid question but you said my Plusle is holographic and the background on that reflects light so wouldn't it be reverse holo? 608 esaj (talk) 20:36, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
To indent, use colons (:). The more colons, the more it indents. The background is the part that's not the picture or the border; it's the color of the card's type and has all the attacks on it. Pokémon LV.X does a pretty good job on explaining the differences between them and Pokémon-ex (and Pokémon-EX, which are different from Pokémon-ex). If you mean the rarity symbols we use, both ex and LV.X used the white star (some ex were before the white star began being used and just used the regular star) but weren't actually the same rarity as each other or other cards that used the same symbols, so we had to come up with different symbols. glikglak 03:40, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Turns out this Celebi http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Celebi_(Triumphant_92) is the one I was talking about. Just wanted to show what I was talking about. Here's the Suicune.http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Suicune_(HGSS_Promo_21) 608 esaj (talk) 03:54, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Southern Islands

I am wondering why the Southern Islands Pokemon Trading Card Game Expansion is not included in the List of Pokemon Trading Card Game expansions page? This expansion is marked by a palm tree. I have a Raticate and Jigglypuff from this expansion and was wondering what expansion it was from luckily Wikipedia had it. Also I have cards that are labeled by a pokeball and a number like 30 something. What are those from?

ALE241996 (talk) 13:18, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

That'd be because Southern Islands is a promotional set, not an expansion. Same as the POP Series, which are the cards with the Poké Ball and numbers on them. glikglak 14:40, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Card image sources

I'm not really sure where exactly the line lies for an acceptable source for Pokemon card images. I found an eBay listing for all of the Pokémon Colosseum Double Battle e cards with very nice pictures, but I'm not sure if it would be okay to just copy those pictures and upload them here. Could you enlighten me? Tiddlywinks (talk) 07:25, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

I don't know what Project Games wants for e-reader scans, but if it were Project TCG, I would ask politely if the ebay user would be kind enough to donate the scans for use here, with credits and links on each image's summary section. MaverickNate 18:55, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Pokémon Shuffle Pokédex Page

I asked SnorlaxMonster whether my project page and its associated template can now be moved, and he has yet to get back to me. Other than changing the name of the template to something like "ShDex" (since Sdex is reserved for Sinnoh) and perhaps getting the icon images used in Shuffle, what is your assessment? Can these be moved for now or is other work still needed? Other than creating ability pages (which I can do if we do that), there's not much more to do other than add any new content in the future. CycloneGU (talk) 00:17, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Page move request

Hey Maverick Nate, I was wondering if you could move some pages for me (I can't move pages with them leaving redirects behind). The pages are all Glitch Pokémon from Gen I: ゥ► ゥ▼ ゥ should be "ゥ► ゥ▼ ゥ (EE)", ゥ $ A (F3) should be "ゥ► ゥ▼ ゥ (F3)", ゥ 4ぁ 4 should be "ゥ 4- 4", and ゥ 4ぁ 4's redirect page should be "ゥ 4- 4 (Pokémon)". I have the information to update the List of glitch moves but these should be moved first to avoid problems later. Thanks. Adamws (talk) 02:29, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

To be honest, I don't entirely feel comfortable doing anything with glitches. Would you be able to ask someone else for me? MaverickNate 03:00, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
Sure thing. Adamws (talk) 03:05, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Contact Please

Greetings,

So I'm new here and not fully sure how to go about doing this. However, I would like to discuss something with you in private (I didn't know if there was a PM function, couldn't find it) and would greatly appreciate it if you could message me in some capacity. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely, Rock08g

English Cards

I have some cards that you only have pictures of in Japanese in English, such as M Gallade EX and a few more from Roaring Skies, I hope you see my post as this is the first time I've posted on Bulbapedia. Please contact me at [email protected] Sincerely, RichardMineall (talk) 12:32, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

Edit Summary Question

I didn't know where to ask this question so I figured I'd just ask a member of staff. In most edit summaries I can see a blue link arrow with a bit of grey italic text indicating the edited section. I haven't found anything explaining how to do this, so if you could let me know how to add that I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! RetroKitty (talk) 01:08, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

It's something that happens automatically if you edit a specific section of a page. I'm not entirely sure if there is a way to do it manually. MaverickNate 14:21, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
The format is technically just a result of the "/*" and "*/" enclosing the section title. You can basically put them anywhere you want, the only real restriction I know is that it only works once at a time in an edit summary. At any rate, if you're curious, you can always play with your edit summary and preview/show changes to see what happens to the format. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:33, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Moves not in the Pokémon games, TCG moves

You say the moves that were removed are in the games. Forgive me, but I can't tell how exactly. And if I can't, I wager others wouldn't understand it immediately either. Could you clarify this for me?

If you are set on excluding those moves, I think it may be necessary to add some explanation on the page saying exactly why certain moves are not included in the list even though they are indeed not, strictly speaking, in the games (similar to the way that it is explained that some moves may have been introduced later in the games, but some may also not actually have been the same, like Pidgeot's Hurricane). Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:51, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

The Japanese names match, thus they are moves from the games. Consider this: someone who knows and uses the Japanese kana for each name sees that the page is listing Clefable's Meteor Mash for whatever reason, even though it is from the game. Each origin section should offer an explanation on why they were removed. Now, I admit that some of the ones removed were based on origin speculation (which shouldn't be listed on card pages anymore), and those should actually be listed. Translational errors such as Clefable's Meteor Mash have a separate place away from that page. The TCG section of that page is extremely far from its eventual final version, and honestly, it doesn't entirely matter the journey we take to get there. MaverickNate 20:06, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
I see, no wonder I got confused. I did try checking some of the Japanese, like Soothing Scent, but noticed that it wasn't the same as any Japanese game moves; that must be one of the instances those shouldn't have been removed. (It's almost made weirder by the fact that both Plunder and Soothing Scent (at least) were removed once, but are still listed for other cards.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:28, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Ancient Origins Theme Deck articles

Hi Maverick Nate. So you know, as I have done for every set since Furious Fists, I have created two articles for the Ancient Origins Theme Decks in my userspace. They can be found at User:MetalMetroid997/Metagross Theme Deck (TCG) and User:MetalMetroid997/Regirock Theme Deck (TCG). MetalMetroid997 (talk) 08:29, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi Maverick Nate. Thought I should let you know that the English names for the Ancient Origins Theme Decks have been revealed. The Metagross Theme Deck is Iron Tide, while the Regirock Theme Deck is Stone Heart. [1] MetalMetroid997 (talk) 12:01, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Sleeping Pikachu Collection

I asked SnorlaxMonster, but have been thinking and realize you might be the better person to ask.

Earlier, I linked the Gen. IV Sleeping Pikachu entry to Sleeping Pikachu Collection, which was a 2009 collection that it was meant to promote. I then noticed that the article you created only covers the 2014 collection. I looked up the Bulbanews 2009 collection source and noticed they have unique items, but the same overworked Pikachu. Can the page be converted to include both and the link I added later changed to include an anchor?

If you don't have time to add it yourself but know where I can get the 2009 collection info, I can also add it when I have an opportunity. Interestinglyu, someone took video of the 2009 collection which appears on Youtube dated around the time of the collection being released, but I don't think the quality is good enough to see price tags there, so we still need a pricing source. The page linked in the article has ceased to exist. CycloneGU (talk) 04:15, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

I think having them both on the same page for now would be fine. As for prices, those have mostly just been posted in order to keep the information that exists. If we don't have the pricing information, it isn't the end of the world. MaverickNate 17:12, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
No worries. The video could be used to guess at some of the merchandise, and the 2009 set did have an image in the article as well. I did find that this (translated version) still works, the German link I believe. Just limited information. Pokévault might have a few of the items as well. CycloneGU (talk) 17:42, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

Oh Nate

You beautiful and poetic land mermaid, tell me what you think of this and then hit me up with how you want the GB2 deck pages to look like and all that stuff because I already have like two in my userspace that I made an attempt at. Thank youuuu! --Charlie (talk | edits) 19:46, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

I think this would be fine for now. We may end up merging a few of these decks into the people who own them just to cut down on the amount of space things are taking up/make it easier to find info, but for now I'd like to see a page for each of them. I would like to confirm translations, but not having the game, I'm not entirely able to do that at this moment. Feel free to create things in the mainspace. Keep on pushing ahead with this! =] MaverickNate 23:09, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
Awesome! Thank you so much you brilliant and powerful musk ox. I'll keep at it as always. --Charlie (talk | edits) 00:26, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Pokémon BREAK

Hi Nate. Unless you or someone else is working on updating everything for Pokémon BREAK, I'm going to go ahead and make a start tonight. My only initial concerns are the article intro and how we present the orientation of the card image. For example, would Zoroark (Japanese: ゾロアーク Zoroark) is a Darkness BREAK Evolution Pokémon card. suffice? And, should we present the card image rotated 90 degrees, or leave it horizontal? Thanks. ~~nuva-kal 13:29, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

That opener is good, but the title of the card would be ZoroarkBREAK (Japanese: ゾロアークBREAK ZoroarkBREAK), no?. We've been having the image as horizontal so far. I've been avoiding updating the infobox for it for now (since I don't entirely have the time/energy to do more than just minor fixes to things right now), but I imagine we'll try and make the image for BREAKS appear a bit larger than they would as horizontal cards. The infobox needs a new Evolution Stage template, but in order to do that, I was pretty much going to base most things with a mix between LEGEND and EX. I wasn't going to be able to do any of this until next week, so please go ahead if you can MaverickNate 14:41, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
For the two decks, I opted, at least on the archives, to leave BREAK out of the parenthetical on the 10 card pages. We don't know how English is going to stylize BREAK Pokémon yet, so I wanted to avoid that situation altogether. MaverickNate 19:22, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
Well, that's Zoroark-BREAK made. Looks okay, sort of bland, but that's to be expected for these cards I guess... ~~nuva-kal 20:18, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
I think that looks really good! Exactly what I had in mind, tbh. Thanks for getting to that so quickly! MaverickNate 22:19, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

Translations

Surely you meant to say おじさん and not おねいさん? And translations are meant to be accurate and sensible as opposed to inter-article consistent. "exchange man" sounds awkward, especially when the word exchanger exists. SatoMew2 (talk) 18:07, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

I know what I said and I meant exactly what I said. In regards to the card game, we work very hard to keep translations as consistent as possible between runs of similar words being used in similar ways. On Bulbapedia, the other instances of おじさん are all treated as a separate word, most often "Man", described by whatever descriptor is necessary. This is further supported by instances of おねいさん, which are all consistently treated as a separate word, "Lady", described by the necessary descriptors. I didn't have enough room in the edit summary to mention both, so I just jumped to my final thought. MaverickNate 18:27, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
I understand that but it's worthless if the translation doesn't sound natural, which it should as much as possible. SatoMew2 (talk) 21:47, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Your Opinion

Special Stages will need a little bit of reconstruction. Should we move the page into mainspace while it's being prepared (just not linking to it yet), or should it stay in userspace until it's ready? I'm going to take a look at it shortly to put some material back onto it so the other proposal pages can be deleted, but a proper page merge will require checking both sets of data to ensure nothing was missed and is better done all at once upon being reconstructed fully. CycloneGU (talk) 05:36, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Since the information will still be present on the main Pokémon Shuffle page, preparing it in the userspace until it is fully ready seems like the most appropriate option. MaverickNate 05:41, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
That's what we'll do, then. I don't think it will take more than a day, anyway, to get it reconstructed (maybe in an hour, we'll see), and the rest is just merging, which is best done on a good night's sleep. LOL
I did note that Special Stages on the Shuffle page is depreciated, and have taken the liberty to alert a few recent editors so they can find the new page and edit there instead, so that should help a little as well. CycloneGU (talk) 05:50, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Pocket Monsters RPG

Well, finally got around to performing the deletion; apologies that I was uncertain as to how it should be handled a couple weeks ago when I removed it from the navigation template without doing anything else. As for the {{Main Page/Did you know}}, where one link to the page is found, should the line be removed outright (even though we don't seem to be using that template anymore), or should it be marked out somehow? Berrenta (talk) 00:37, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

Those 34 edits need to be merged into an appropriate destination, not simple deleted. Other than that, I think it's appropriate to simply remove the line. MaverickNate 00:46, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

"That's not how this works."

Would you mind explaining what's the problem with a staff member deleting an article about a subject that was completely made up and thus fails to meet Bulbapedia's notability requirements? サトミュウ (SatoMew) 12:40, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

When a page has been around for four years and has gained 34 edits in its time, even if the content has been deemed not notable, the 34 edits are still legitimate edits that affect things, such as the Top Contributors list. It was Berrenta's mistake when she simply deleted those legitimate contributions without moving them somewhere where they can still be accepted by the wiki's system. This is the proper protocol when deleting an article that has been around for longer than about a week. It can't just be deleted or turned into a redirect. MaverickNate 23:32, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
I see. But the only reason I turned it into a redirect afterwards was because Pokémon RPG already redirects to Core series so it was only logical to make Pocket Monsters RPG redirect there as well since Pokémon is short for Pocket Monsters. サトミュウ (SatoMew) 10:56, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

TCG Page Ideas

First off, I'm new to this whole system. I actually just made an account so I can share my ideas and try to help out after depending on Bulbapedia for so long. As I'm new to editing this, I feel it would be better to verify that my suggestions are things that you would want to include before putting effort in to making them happen.

I am a collector myself, and I've been cataloging and organizing all of my cards for the last two years (and for the foreseeable future, I'm maybe half done ._.) with a huge amount of help from the Bulbapedia TCG pages. I've had several ideas over the years, but these two keep resurfacing as I go.

  • Collector's Tips page: (I am only suggesting this because I've already had many people request this from me, so there may be many more who could benefit.) When I decided the best way to organize my cards would be to catalog them, I put a lot of work into some detailed spreadsheets. They are very thorough, or will be once they are all 100% complete, and I am willing to provide blank copies so no one else has to put that much time and effort in accounting for every variation of (English) cards that have been released. I can provide a set of "suggested instructions", which would outline how I set up the sheets to be used, but they can also be treated as a template, because we all may sort very differently.
  • A page dedicated for the different types of foils and reverse foils: With the addition of reverse/refactor holos, it starts to become a little confusing as to what I'm trying to classify in my spreadsheets. The best example is in the EX series, where the refactor/reverse holos begin to change styles between several expansions. While there is a blurb on some of the expansions pages, I did not notice it the first few times I gathered information off of those pages. I have tried searching for a page like this, and, if it exists, I wasn't able to find it.

So, that's all I have for now. I have more information about these two ideas if you are interested or have any questions. I will say that I am 110% willing to do as much work required to make these things happen, since I am the one suggesting them here. I'm also 100% okay if you don't want to include these ideas. Just let me know what you think! --Auxome (talk) 00:02, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

I'm happy to have you aboard! There's always tons going on in the TCG section and all help is appreciated immensely.
  • Collector's tips pages: I have a feeling like these types of pages won't entirely be welcome here on the encyclopedia. We strive to be as factual as possible, and a tip page would essentially turn into a guide for people filled with opinions instead of facts, opinions of how things should be laid out and displayed and so forth. Our goal here is more to present as much information and as many facts as possible and allow readers to discover how they want to go about their collections on their own. For me, much of the fun of my collection is figuring out how it should be, and I don't think it'd be nice to take that away from anyone.
  • Holofoils: well, we have this (which is honestly awful, tbh, but that's where this sort of information should be). I tried to do something along the lines of your suggestion before, but never had the necessary time to devote to a task that massive. This is definitely an area where Bulbapedia needs massive improvement, and I would definitely be willing and able to help figure out how to best present the Holofoil information as long as you'd be willing to put the work in. It's definitely something I want to see represented better throughout the TCG section and I would definitely love to see how far forward you can push the success for that topic.
I await your response~ MaverickNate 11:05, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
Excuse me for interrupting, but no sense in doing work twice... I've previously been working on a revised holofoil page, User:SpaceNarwhal/Holofoil but real life got in the way before I could start scanning cards for the example pictures and describing the EX era rev-holo patterns.
Feel free to edit/copy/steal/move it if you want, if it would save rewriting the page from the ground up... SpaceNarwhal (talk) 11:24, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
I get why a Collector's Tips page wouldn't work. No problem. And, since the holofoils page is already being reworked, is there anything I can do to help out with it? I have a bunch of cards if you need scans or more info.
Also, I greatly appreciated the Additional Cards boxes in the Gen 4 and on expansions lists. Are there some for Gen 3 in the works, or would that be something I could work on? I tried looking at the list of pages needing some work, but I didn't see anything right away that I felt as if I knew enough info to add anything worthwhile, though I've made some small typo or link corrections in a couple pages I just happened to notice weren't right. I have a large collection, especially of older cards, if any scans are needed. Let me know if there's anything needing some immediate attention. --Auxome (talk) 04:40, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

Expansion Card Navigation

I'd like to add headers for navigating through cards within expansions. I feel like it would be useful, but it needs a template. Maybe something like this?

Staryu (BREAKthrough 29)
BREAKthrough
Remoraid (BREAKthrough 31)

This is just a modified version of the cards by Pokémon navigation header, and it can probably be improved. It has these variables:
-prev: Name of previous Pokémon (in expansion)
-prevnum: Number of previous Pokémon (in expansion)
-next: Name of next Pokémon (in expansion)
-nextnum: Number of next Pokémon (in expansion)
-enexp: Expansion name
-type: Card type (water, fire, etc.)
I'm kind of new to this, so sorry if this is the wrong place/way to suggest a new template. Thanks! RetroKitty (talk) 18:44, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

This works in theory but not in practice. For example, Chimchar would need 11 prev/nexts at the top of the page pushing down the content way too low on. Reshiram would require 16. It can't feasibly happen MaverickNate 18:57, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
Okay, thanks anyway. RetroKitty (talk) 20:54, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

why are you screwing up breakpoint so much

we know there wont be breaks without their evolutions and we know that the entire jp set and palkia deck is being added the numbers between psyduck and golduck break fit perfectly

you even removed the scizor EX like there wont be one just the mega and the spirit likes like some how the english version no longer comes with spirit links

There are both things we know, and things that are confirmed. Please keep in mind that these two, even though they are often the same, they don't always coincide. As an encyclopedia, we can only post factual information, and that can't include your assumptions based on what may seem to fit into the spots. MaverickNate 15:28, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

Card Page Images

Are we allowed to create a card page if there is no image yet? The information would be directly from pokemon.com. Thanks! RetroKitty 14:45, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

As long as there is enough information for the card, but I'm not entirely sure what card right now still needs a page. MaverickNate 20:11, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
I was going to start adding information for BREAKpoint cards that have already appeared on the Pokémon website. RetroKitty 14:09, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
All of the BREAKpoint cards should have a page already created for them, since all of the cards for this expansion are originating from Japan. The work related to BREAKpoint will be moving them to their new location and updating their pages with English text and such. MaverickNate 14:12, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
Ah, okay. RetroKitty 14:47, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Please delete my page

Nanoblocks

Hey Maverick! Regarding the Nanoblocks, I can't seem to find a reliable source for N. American release dates. It's not listed on the Nanoblock Australia or UK site, and I can't find any Nanoblock US site. There may have been no formal "release" as such so I've left a incomplete sign for now. In any case, is it mainspaceable now? And also, can you also delete this and this since I don't need them any more. Thanks heaps! --Wowy(Talk) 10:32, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

The release date in NA is October 1, 2015 for Pikachu, Squirtle, Charmander, and Charizard, distributed by Ohio Art Company to bookstores such as Barnes & Noble. This probably means the table need to be reconstructed in order to prioritize the English information over the Japanese.
I took care of the deletes, though in the future, a faster way to have them taken care of is adding the {{delete}} tag right to the page. That way any administrator will be able to take care of the pages. MaverickNate 02:17, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks!! I will do so next time. --Wowy(Talk) 03:35, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
Sorry for hassling you. But is there anything else you'd like me to do with the Nanoblock page? :) --Wowy(Talk) 10:47, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

Generations Questions.

How soon will I be allowed to enter the card information for Generations? Also, I made the updated setlist in the discussion of Generations (TCG). Finally, for future reference how does one add the set list of the current expansion to the reprinted card's page, i.e. adding Generations 1/83 to say a reprinted card from Flashfire? Thanks, SirFinkleBottom 02:25, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

If/when we get images of cards on-site in order to source our content internally, whether that be someone asking Charizard Authority for images, someone else scanning their own cards, or pokemon.com posting the information. As for how to change pages, here is an example for cards with new artwork. Here is an example for cards with the same artwork. Typically all changes are based on a previous example.
Additionally, just for future reference, I was watching your talk page, and was going to respond there. Making a response on my talk page too is not necessary, since I know we have an open conversation on yours. MaverickNate 02:32, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
Ok thanks for the info! Sorry about responding here. It has been a while since I have used Bulbapedia and I couldn't remember if I was supposed to respond on my talk page or yours. SirFinkleBottom 15:51, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
One more thing. Do the new BREAKpoint cards need scans as well since most of the cards still have Japanese cards instead of English. SirFinkleBottom 16:02, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
They should, but since the set has already been released, the focus is on high quality scans of the cards, following our size, dimension, and quality standards for scans. MaverickNate 17:42, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

Two cards in BREAKpoint

Hi. I believe Burst Balloon (Rage of the Broken Heavens 73) and Psychic's Mind Reading (Rage of the Broken Heavens 78) should be "Moved without a redirect"? Thanks. — Ruixiang95 (talk) 15:33, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

Lists

Are there any lists you want made or updated? RetroKitty 18:41, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

That sort of thing can be found here. There's a lot on that, so just choose something and go to town. MaverickNate 13:48, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
I created a concept for the List of Abilities. If you'd like, check it out here. It's still a work in progress, but I'd like to know what you think needs to be changed/added, such as the ordering and style. Thanks! RetroKitty 22:18, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
It's been a week now, so I'm guessing you may have missed this and I'd just like to try to draw your attention to it. Sorry if I'm bothering you, I'd just like to get started on this whenever I can. Thanks! RetroKitty 16:39, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Sorry about that. My talk page has been blowing up way more than normal lately and it has been hard to keep up with ^_^;. I like what you have! I would like to see jname and jtrans worked into it though. Additionally, as far as gameplay works, Abilities and Pokémon Powers/Poké-Powers/Poké-Bodies are two completely unrelated concepts, so the list of Abilities will only be for Black & White-onwards, while the other list will have Base Set through Call of Legends with the Powers and such. MaverickNate 17:24, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
I do also understand your concern about the effect taking up a lot of space, and I don't think we'll honestly need it there. I do think, however, we may need to include set and card number in these lists (possibly even jpset and jpnum, but not rarities), and have the list in chronological order instead of alphabetical. That allows us to simply add new ones to the bottom of the list as new sets come out instead of having to shift everything around every month. MaverickNate 17:30, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
I made the changes you suggested. The column ordering will probably need to be changed a bit, and I'm not sure what you want to call the page for the list of Pokémon Powers/Poké-Powers/Poké-Bodies. I'll likely make some sort of template for the list later on as well. Take a look and let me know what you think (the list is here). Thanks! RetroKitty 01:01, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
Also changed the way "Pokémon Power" is displayed to get rid of the unnecessarily large copy/pasted block of colour code, although I'm not sure if you want it to be any specific colour. RetroKitty 22:09, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
And I don't know if you want any specific colours or formatting for the table itself. RetroKitty 00:17, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
I've taken a look at it, and it looks pretty good. There are a few more improvements I'm thinking about, but I can't quite pinpoint their details at the moment. I'll get back to you. (It's fine without the color, I think) MaverickNate 00:33, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

Scans of Generations Ready

Hello, I have scans of all the new Generations cards and the Radiant Collection cards thanks to RockCarolina, a close friend of The Charizard Authority. The quality requirements of the card scans have been met. However, I am not able to upload them to Bulbagarden Archives because I am not an Autoconfirmed User or Confirmed User. HPlease help. Thanks, SirFinkleBottom 02:03, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

In order to become autoconfirmed on the Archives, you have to both be a user for a predetermined amount of time and also make a number of edits over there. In the meantime, if you link them to me, I'll be able to upload them MaverickNate 13:48, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
I sent you an email containing a link and password to the photo album of the new scans. SirFinkleBottom 14:27, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Helping out

Hi. I was just wondering, are we still editing this for every cards in every TCG expansions? I feel bored and feel like helping out. :) And for the "<name> (TCG)" pages, is this necessary "|jpsetlink=Master Kit|jpset=Bulbasaur Quarter Deck|jpnum=001/015}}." or just the second column (jpset) alone will do, or it doesn't matter? — Ruixiang95 16:39, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Yes! We are still trying to update every card to that standard. And yes! In the majority of circumstances, jpsetlink is necessary. Jpsetlink is to be used when there is a type of sub-release within the main release. So, in the example you provided, the Bulbasaur Quarter Deck being a separately numbered set within the umbrella of Master Kit. The same applies with ensetlink and English Trainer Kits. Since the Sylveon Half Deck of the XY Trainer Kit has a separate numbering than the whole umbrella release, it uses both ensetlink and enset. The only time this doesn't apply is Radiant Collection in Legendary Treasures and Radiant Collection 2 in Generations, because their numbering indicates what's going on. (i.e RC10/RC32) MaverickNate 16:52, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
But if it's for cards from a main expansion, it is still required to have the "jpsetlink"? And okay, I will start to help out in editing to the new template standard. — Ruixiang95 17:07, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
Nah, when it's a main expansion, jpsetlink isn't used at all. MaverickNate 17:11, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
Because I realized some of the older sets have the jpsetlink in them, while the newer sets don't have them. Should we be putting them in uniform or just leave it as it is without editing them? — Ruixiang95 17:19, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
That's because the standard changed in between when the pages were created and when the later cards were added. With the older expansions, we should be removing them whenever we have to edit them otherwise, but since there isn't a visual difference on the final page, we can't justify going through each one to remove the ones that aren't necessary. Korean pack upload

Hey, I've got told that you are the person I need to talk to if I have something about the KTCG to upload. Well, here it is, I found pack arts like these.

[i.imgur.com/jbLhVi5.png]

MannedTooth (Talk) 16:55, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Due to how secondary Korean TCG is to our main focus of Japanese/English cards, a lot of possible Korean images simply aren't necessary, and the examples of what we do need are strictly limited and must be approved by me. Due to how few images we do actually need, the primary focus for those images is quality, meaning any pack images must be scans from someone's collection, not just the random stock images from the internet. MaverickNate 17:03, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
Okay, so this particular image is not good since it's not in that great quality, but is its notability okay? It's part of he Korean Exclusives Sets that I've added yesterday. MannedTooth (Talk) 17:05, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

TCG cards

I've noticed that a lot of cards in the Roaring Skies have the Japanese image (without mentioning the stamps on them). What is the "manual of style" of the TCG? What image should be predominant? English or Japanese? Because I have a big part of this set, so I could scan them if you wish. MannedTooth (Talk) 05:34, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

It's common courtesy to, you know, wait for a response with the instructions on how to do something before actually doing it. That way you would know for instance, that you shouldn't upload scans of reverse foils, that each scam needs to be done at 600dpi with dimensions of 600 x about 830, that each scan must be uploaded as a new revision of the existing scan, and the file be moved to retain history, not simply replaced, and that each potential scanner needs to submit an example to me to make sure the quality is on point. I'm not entirely pleased that you didn't even wait for my shift at work to end before disregarding any sort of answer I didn't even have a chance to post at all. MaverickNate 16:49, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't know it had so much requirements, I was just looking at how the others were made and I tried to mimic them. I didn't intended to make more, I just did these two to test it out, since, they had stamps, and stamps are not allowed on here I believe, so I thought that any picture would have been better than that one. Trust me, I wasn't intending to do more before I get an answer. Won't happen again. Promise. MannedTooth (Talk) 17:01, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
So, whenever you're ready, give me instructions on how to properly contribute to the TCG. ^^ MannedTooth (Talk) 22:15, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

I know that you have posted some interesting guides under this thread, but will you come back at me with some more info on "each potential scanner needs to submit an example to me to make sure the quality is on point" and everything about contributing to the TCG by uploading. MannedTooth (Talk) 00:10, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
I posted the scan requirements. Send me an example of a scan and I'll either tell you it's fine or needs to be improved. MaverickNate 00:18, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

Whatever your settings are, it's making the image incredibly blurry MaverickNate 00:34, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
Oh, to made it faster, I scanned the whole sheets, each card is in a sleeve, in a sheet. Here is the non-sleeve version: [3] MannedTooth (Talk) 00:41, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
The images still have many jpg artifacts, and I would like to see those fixed before they are approved. MaverickNate 04:00, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
My scanner actually saves them into jpg format, I'll see if I can make it png. MannedTooth (Talk) 04:10, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
There you go! PNG 600dpi [4] MannedTooth (Talk) 04:38, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
That's pretty good. Just make sure you crop closer to the borders of the cards, size the card correctly, and upload a new version of the image that already exists (instead of creating a new image like you did with Exeggcute and Exeggutor) MaverickNate 04:42, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
You mean "overwrite" the japanese version? I thought we were keeping it for the gallery. MannedTooth (Talk) 04:45, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
The gallery is only for different artworks. Yeah, overwriting the Japanese print that matches the artwork. MaverickNate 04:47, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Finally, I presume that I must move the card to its new name? ie: Emerald Break to Roaring Skies MannedTooth (Talk) 04:50, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Moving images is only an action that Junior Administrators and above can do. I'll take care of the images once there are enough to do at once. MaverickNate 04:52, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Question about Template

I believe it would formal to slightly alter the Template:TCGMerchNav to only show the English TCG merchandise, Japanese, and Korean. We are not even close to adding any articles about any of the other languages. I did a show preview on my own to test what the code would look like and I found it to be very good. All I did in the preview was add the hidden code lines and apply to the sections we are not ready to add or to show. Thanks, SirFinkleBottom 19:17, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

When you have time, I would like you check this experimental Template for usage on the Bulbagarden Archives. The usage of this Template would allow us to make a distinction between images that need to be replaced immediately, i.e. "bad image", and those who simply need an improved resolution. I have also noticed that Bulbagarden Archives are lacking on any updated To-Do lists (as I went there and all of the To-Do lists that I checked were completed.) If you could take a look at that issue too (when you have time of course) that would be great. I would also like to suggest making a third Template denoting card images that pass the "bad image" and quality RES but have JP text instead of English which would add a third tier of TCG cards to upload and improve. As always, I will continue to scour the TCG card images and denote cards that absolutely need a card image replacement and continue on updating and improving TCG Articles that are outdated or those of which are brand new. Thanks, SirFinkleBottom 18:55, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
I'm going to make a bullet list of my thoughts:
  • If we alter Template:TCGMerchNav, it makes it so that the links don't show up in the Wanted Pages, and nobody, either simply reading the site or editing the site, would realize we want to have those created. It would also mess up the color scheme of every TCG type color.
  • It is not a concern for our site to have English images of cards. The highest priority is one of every artwork, regardless of if the image is in English, Japanese, (and if I remember correctly, there are German and French around too). As a general rule of thumb, all Japanese card images utilize a:Template:i-Fairuse-carddb instead of a:Template:i-Fairuse-tcg, putting this category onto every image it appears on, which is already a part of a:Category:Unsatisfactory images. It's designed as a catch-all so that we aren't editing hundreds of images, clogging up the recent changes and the unsatisfactory images category, just to add a tag that will involve being removed with hundreds of edits to images.
  • I passed along the updating of the Archives to-do lists to those in charge of the Archives.
  • The 600×8## resolution at 600dpi is simply a concern for images going forward. There are a number of old images at 350×~500 resolution, for example, that are perfectly fine. Replacing these images should be considered one of the last priorities. The current standard is mostly for users replacing the higher need images at Bulbapedia's desired resolution, so that we're not simply doing a ton of scans just to do them all again later. I prefer not advertising one of our last priorities by means of an improvement tag, as it takes away emphasis from the efforts that truly need to be done sooner.
I do appreciate all the help you've been giving the TCG section here. It's easily the largest section at Bulbapedia, and changes that span many articles take a lot of time and effort to finalize completely. I'm going to post some tips, suggestions, and requests below here to hopefully improve your editing.
  • Non Holofoil as a term is not hyphenated. This is in preparation for a future feature of Bulbapedia that we will work on when we are caught up enough in other areas.
  • Updating the templates on the TCG articles is not simply about updating the templates, but also improving the article in general while switching over to the new style of tables. This includes, but isn't limited to, 1) challenging the card text written on the page with the English text on the card, 2) comparing the card text between every print of the card to make sure no wording changed, 3) confirming that the jtrans of each attack/Ability/etc. from the game matches that of the move and Ability pages (an example of one that is usually inconsistent is Confuse Ray), 4) updating Release information, 5) checking all the appropriate categories and/or interwiki links are present, 6) removing any speculative lines from the trivia and origin sections (things are typically only listed if either their Japanese or English name matches something of note, be it a game move, side game Skill, common TCG-only move, etc).
  • Cards are only in the English Standard or Expanded formats if they are released in English.
  • Japanese cards don't have English Rarities.
  • Pokémon-EX always have a hyphen in their name.
  • jpsetlink in general should not be used. The rules for when to use it are explained here.
  • Additional cards are only acknowledged in lists when their release dates have passed.
In general, do your best to mimic the edits of those who are more experienced around here, (like here). A number of the best practices for TCG are based on what has been done before, keeping things consistent based on precedence. It gets easier with practice. MaverickNate 20:51, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
Thank you very, very much for the thoughtful and in-depth post you have taken the time written. I have one more question. In regards to the 3rd tip you gave me over improving a TCG article, what exactly are you referring to? Thanks again, SirFinkleBottom 21:07, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
Standard and Expanded are the two formats of cards that can be played in Play! Pokémon tournaments held by TPCI around the world (except in Korea and Japan). Some tournaments, like Regional Championships are Expanded, while others, like Nationals and some Cities, are Standard. For Expanded tournaments, players can use any card released in English from Black & White-on (with exception), and Standard is XY-on (with exception). When you added the Lugia and Lugia BREAK cards to Lugia, you copied the "expanded=Yes" field in each listing, making the entry blue. On every cards by Pokémon page, there is a quote at the top of the chart saying
Cards listed with a blue background are only legal to use in the current Expanded format.
Cards listed with a silver background are legal to use in both the current Standard and Expanded formats.
As the cards haven't been released in English yet (let alone anywhere in the world), this was incorrect. Each card is more often than not added without "standard=Yes" or "expanded=Yes". We'd have to be extremely behind to be adding stuff that has already entered the pool of playable cards. MaverickNate 23:35, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Archives

Would you kindly make my account on the archives "confirmed." I need to be able to upload images and I don't want to keep waiting for the auto-confirmed user group to kick into effect. (If your not able to, no problem. I'll wait patiently.) Thanks, :) SirFinkleBottom 23:58, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

I can't auto confirm your account. That's something that happens automatically by the system when you've made a predetermined amount of edits and have been on the Archives for a predetermined amount of time. MaverickNate 15:10, 20 February 2016 (UTC)

Mystery Plate α description in TCGNote template

Should the TCGNote template be modified for Mystery Plate α (Skyridge 133)? I would use the tt template to add "this card" when you mouse over "Mystery Plate α". This would add consistency with the others cards that specify that they are talking about themselves such as Erika's Vileplume (Gym Heroes 5). MannedTooth (Talk) 04:18, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

It probably can. Though if you can, I ask that you work in Generation 3 and 4 cards, as the ones in 1+2 have the most problems and are harder to get right for inexperienced users. MaverickNate 04:27, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Will do, and why was the trivia I added on Plasma Freeze removed? MannedTooth (Talk) 04:30, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
It's already mentioned in the set description. Also, we've been removing trivia sections for set pages and having them in the information sections. Additionally, this main purpose of the card update is to remove Template:TCGAttack and all its derivatives in favor of {{Cardtext/Attack}}. Please make sure you are doing that, or else someone else is going to have to go through all the cards again to fix it. MaverickNate 04:41, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

game template

I am starting to get the hang of it! Every tip or correction is welcome. :) Why did you use game instead of g? MannedTooth (Talk) 05:35, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

For Generations 1-5, we only use {{game}}. There isn't really a reason, as long as we're consistent. Eventually, those templates will be worked into the same one. MaverickNate 05:40, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Energy symbols for dual types

Do you think it would be worth it/feasible to get images of the energy types of dual-type Pokémon? To my knowledge, we don't already have them, but I could be wrong. Like, when referring to what type Jirachi is, we use PsychicMetal, but it sure would be cool if we had an image of the actual symbol on the card. I could probably get verrrry high res scans of all the dual types that exist, and then isolate the energy symbol/make it the appropriate size/etc. Think that would be neat? --Politoed666 19:19, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

I like it, but it would all be dependent on how Kogoro feels about it, since she's pretty much in charge of what images we should be using, as well as modifying the infoboxes in order to support them. MaverickNate 19:22, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

TCG questions

Shouldn't there be a format for card page titles on the Korean Black Star Promos and XY-P Black Star Promos pages (similar to how you corrected the format for the Korean BW promos)? Also, I made the Evolution of Grass, Evolution of Fire, and Evolution of Water pages, in addition to pages about the Korean exclusive Raichu BREAK Half Deck and Noivern BREAK Half Deck. So could you add them to the Korean Releases template? Also there is something that has been bothering me for a while now about the card pages. Is there any specific reason we don't list other languages on them (like we do for many other articles on here that have names in other languages)? I could see why we don't list them on the Pokémon card pages, but what about like the Trainer card pages? Also why is the Half deck page have "deck" in lowercase for the title, when in all instances that I can find on here it is uppercase (and shouldn't the page name reflect that)? Lady Ariel 19:25, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

I replied on AIM MaverickNate 19:34, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Check out this basic tempalte that I have made. Thanks, SirFinkleBottom 23:07, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
Looks good. That was basically what I wanted that link template to do, except I would also like a link to the Holofoil page (but that would involve the Holofoil page having individual sections like I want it too, but that would involve going through and having names for every Holofoil that exists, which has to happen in tandem with the split of Category:Holographic cards, which can't happen until the card template is updated on every card page that remains.) MaverickNate 23:21, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
As always thanks for your feedback. Will keep updating those TCG templates in the mean time. Thanks, SirFinkleBottom 23:41, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

I've added 5 card images. (Roaring Skies 1 to 5) Can you validate them so that I can continue? MannedTooth (Talk) 20:57, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
They all look very good! Thank you for being patient with me in order to get these up. I appreciate it. As a side note, I wanted to mention before it comes up, we want the version of the cards that comes from the packs, not an Alternate Holofoil from, for example, the Theme Decks. If that may be the only version of a card you own, skip it and we'll come back to it later. MaverickNate 21:02, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
Are you talking about the holofoil Beautifly? Or is it just a warning for the future? MannedTooth (Talk) 21:04, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
It was just a warning for the future. It won't come up until Articuno, but just know that that's what Bulbapedia wants. MaverickNate 21:06, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
Okay! I will keep an eye on that! I'm glad you noticed I'm making efforts to give out only the best of the best! :) MannedTooth (Talk) 21:09, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

Holo cards article

You kindasorta mentioned in an earlier message here than the Holofoil cards page needed updating/re-writing. I had been half-working on sorting this for a while, but I've finally got around to doing it, find it here. It still needs pictures, and I don't have the time or enthusiasm to scan my own cards right now, but I'd like to get your opinion on the page anyway. It might also be better if it's split into two separate articles, "Holos" and "Reverse Holos". SpaceNarwhal (talk) 20:45, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

I would prefer keeping them on one article, tbh. I ask that you make sure every instance of the word "Holofoil" (and all its derivatives) is capitalized, Reverse Holofoil is not hyphenated, and outside of the opening line, you remove every instance of the word Holographic. Additionally, Base Set didn't use Cosmos Holofoil, and the Machamp you have pictures uses Starlight Holofoil. As a base it's pretty good, but I think it will need a lot of clean up before it's ready for the mainspace. MaverickNate 20:53, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments, I wasn't entirely sure what the conventions were (holo/holographic/Holofoil, capitalization, hyphens etc.), and a fresh pair of eyes always helps pick up stuff like that. At least I've got something to work on over the weekend. SpaceNarwhal (talk) 23:42, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
I've done a few updates to the article in my userspace, please let me know if there's anything obvious or wrong that I've overlooked. I'll take a look at scanning a few of my Reverse Holo cards for the second part of the article over the next week or so, but I've not managed to get very many good quality scans in the past, so no promises... 20th anniversary cards

Hey! :) I don't know if I'm allowed to ask such things here, but I am really in a rush. You probably already know that tomorrow (feb 27th) will be the 20th anniversary of Pokémon and that they will give out 2 cards in Toys R Us stores, right? Well, I'm a big collector but I live in Canada, where this offer is not valid, is there a possibility we could arrange something so that you get a pair for me and ship them to me? I would pay all fees. Thanks! MannedTooth (Talk) 18:24, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

It's also happening in Canadian Toys R Us, as far as I'm aware. It's on the Canadian Toys R US website too. Additionally, I think it may be hard for me to even get my copies, as I think some stores may be making it very strictly children. MaverickNate 19:13, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
Oh, you're right, I was looking on the US site! :o I feel so dumb but so happy! I'll get mines myself ! :D Thanks a lot Nate! MannedTooth (Talk) 19:30, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

Roaring Skies Victini

I think I might have uploaded a card image over the wrong one.

The image that was displayed for Victini was not named like the other ones (PokemonEmeraldBreakNumber.jpg) but rather part of the M Rayquaza Deck, so you might want to look into that. MannedTooth (Talk) 19:38, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

Not all English set cards originate from the same Japanese expansion. Many times, the English release pulls together many smaller releases in order to contain a single fuller set. Roaring Skies happens to have all of Emerald Break, the M Rayquaza-EX Mega Battle Deck, and various XY-P Promotional cards. It is for this reason that English sets have a higher number of cards, in ROS's case, 110 instead of 91. MaverickNate 19:47, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
What I mean is that I might have uploaded the wrong card image. I uploaded a Roaring Skies card over a M Rayquaza Deck Card. They don't have the same set symbol. Anyway, I don,t know if I'm clear enough. MannedTooth (Talk) 20:09, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, they're the same card. MaverickNate 20:14, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
I need you to make sure that your cards don't have the blue border that's happening on Victini and Shedinja. MaverickNate 20:17, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
I removed the blue borders on the one who had it. Are they okay? MannedTooth (Talk) 21:58, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
I suppose, but it's still noticeable. Make sure not to scan them that way in the future. MaverickNate 23:29, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

To-Do List for VC Releases

I will be getting both the Red and Blue Versions of Pokémon tomorrow and justed wanted to know if there is anything that I can do, take note of, etc. as I play through them. Thanks, SirFinkleBottom 23:59, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

Toys R Us Pikachu

Do we need a scan of it? I got myself one. MannedTooth (Talk) 15:07, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

The attack does whatever, and then (commanding the player) heal whatever. MaverickNate 18:40, 27 February 2016 (UTC)
Still doubting, but I'll believe you since Pokémon themselves chose that. MannedTooth (Talk) 19:32, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

Cards Origin

Wouldn't it be better if we would separate each move's information? Like take for exemple what's written on Aggron, instead of writing:
Retaliate is a move later introduced in the Generation V Pokémon games; however, the Japanese names are not the same, making this attack and the move in the games unrelated. Mega Punch is a move in the Pokémon games that Aggron can learn via Move Tutor in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen.

I think we should write it as follow:

Retaliate is a move later introduced in the Generation V Pokémon games; however, the Japanese names are not the same, making this attack and the move in the games unrelated.

Mega Punch is a move in the Pokémon games that Aggron can learn via Move Tutor in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen.

Information on move 3.

Information on entry origin.

Etc. In the order in which the card is written. That would be, to my eyes, alot more readable and understandable.

Just an idea. Let me know what you think about it! :) MannedTooth (Talk) 00:04, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

I don't want this to happen. I've never been a fan of bulleted lists (which is what this is but without the bullets), and I push for longer sections of prose that form paragraphs instead. MaverickNate 00:45, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Japanese Trainer Cards

So I'm finally getting around to adding the cards from side expansions to the List of Japanese Trainer cards, and I have a quick question. In the unnumbered promo cards, the cards No. 1 Trainer, No. 2 Trainer, and No. 3 Trainer (the tournament promos) show up somewhere around twelve times each. Should each iteration be added to the list, or just the first one? Thanks! RetroKitty 02:59, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

The rule should generally be the same as the one on Item card. If the initial print is (in this case unnumbered) then every unnumbered print should be listed. I commend you for trying that list, because the amount of promotional cards that needs to fit into the list is absurd, and the challenge here will be researching and maintaining chronological order. MaverickNate 20:46, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
Another issue is that some of these cards were awarded at tournaments that took place on different dates (e.g. the World Challenge Summer prints). Should they be treated as having been released on the first or the last day they were given out? RetroKitty 21:57, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
The first day they were given out. That's the first day they were made available. Think of it as if they came into existence that day. MaverickNate 22:02, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
Alright, thanks! RetroKitty 22:03, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
Should extra notes (like [glossy] and [non-glossy] on Computer Error) be added to the list? RetroKitty 22:20, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
I don't know if those should count. Leaving those out for now isn't entirely an issue, because there are something like, 20 glossy cards total ever. We can add them later if need be. MaverickNate 22:23, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
Probably the last question. Some cards have a two-star rarity, which doesn't work with the Trainerlistbody (as it's made up of two Rare symbols). What should be done about these? RetroKitty 22:29, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
I'll have to create a new images that reflects the double star rarity in order to make it work on the page. Just list it as Rare for now. MaverickNate 01:29, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
So far, I've basically just been adding all of the trainers from this list, and I'm wondering if every promotional card should be added to the list, or if I should only add cards that were exclusively released promotionally (an example being Roseanne's Research, which was given out at Battle Road Summer 2007, but was also part of the Shining Darkness expansion). Thanks! RetroKitty 19:46, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

empty effects

Attacks with no effects are written as

effect=

Should we remove them instead? Since it would make the page lighter and anyway, it's not like an effect is gonna be added later anyway. MannedTooth (Talk) 22:31, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Those are left on the pages because of how frequently attacks are re-used for the TCG. Often, an attack that used to not have an effect gained one when used on a different Pokémon, so we leave it in to makes things easier on us later. New card pages from new expansions are supposed to be created by copy/pasting the most similar template pieces from other pages. They are left in for a reason. MaverickNate 01:29, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
Okay! :) MannedTooth (Talk) 01:30, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

The New Cards

With complete certainty, those cards that were revealed are definitely from Awakening Psychic King as previous decks centered around new expansion do not introduce new cards solely for them. Also how come cards like "Lass's Recommendation" and "Fairy drop" were linked but have no card numbers and were not changed. Just a need a little clarification on this. (Also check out this article to make sure it is ok, The Flying Hammer). Thanks, SirFinkleBottom 17:42, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

I take it you now understand what's actually going on with those cards now. Also, Flying Hammer looks good. Now the goal is to get all of that done in one edit instead of six. MaverickNate 12:32, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Mega Audino deck

Hey there. I created pages for the Zygarde-EX deck and the Mega Audino-EX deck. However, I was comparing japanese names and the M-Audino deck is actually called "Mega Battle Deck", not "Perfect Battle Deck". Still, I created the page and then moved it from "Perfect" to "Mega". The problem now is that it is still listed as "Perfect Battle Deck" in the TCG Releases table and as such, I created a useless redirect. So, I just wanted to ask if you could fix that (I don't know if the other admninistrators can also do that) and sorry for the inconvenience. Metalizard (talk) 02:36, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

I believe that's fixed now. Thanks for catching those! MaverickNate 12:32, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Release Information

With the card updating are we supposed to delete a release information section if the card never was released outside of its original expansion. For example Floatzel. Also I want to make sure I have the "release terms" down.

  • If a card is first released in Japan then you follow this format, This card was included in the English "TCG|XXXXX" expansion, first released in the Japanese "TCG|XXXXX" expansion. It was later reprinted...
  • If a card is first released in the English you follow this format, This card was first released in the English "TCG|XXXXX" expansion and was later included/released* in the Japanese "TCG|XXXXX" expansion. It was later reprinted...
  • If a card is first released in Japan but is not in a main Japanese expansion you follow, This card was included in the English "TCG|XXXXX" expansion, originating from the Japanese "TCG|XXXXX" (Usually a half deck). It was later reprinted....

Thanks for the help, SirFinkleBottom 21:38, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

Floatzel was released outside of its original expansion as a miscellaneous promotional card. That counts, so the additional information about the original expansion releases needs to be added too.
The default is "This card was included in the English <whatever> (+ the word expansion/other appropriate classifier/nothing if the set has the classifier within the name like Kalos Starter Set), first released in the Japanese <whatever> (+ the word expansion/other appropriate classifier/nothing if the classifier is within the name like M Rayquaza-EX Mega Battle Deck)." If the release was the same day, remove the word "first" from the second clause.
For the very few examples of where the card was first in English, it needs many more details as this is the anomaly. It should be written like it is on Emerging Powers Mandibuzz or Lilligant. MaverickNate 22:41, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
So what about the third example I gave you? SirFinkleBottom 23:26, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
I don't entirely know how you ended up at the third example, but it's covered within the default. MaverickNate 23:31, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
Like the release information in this card. SirFinkleBottom 23:39, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
That's a reprint. Reprints within the release information simply use different text from the initial release so that the section doesn't get boring and repetitive within the same paragraph. Most end up worded like Latios is as to be different. MaverickNate 23:46, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for all of the help! SirFinkleBottom 23:48, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

TCG French Links

I've started adding the french links to the cards that didn't had it.

Here is my progress list: [6]

What do you think about that? MannedTooth (Talk) 02:01, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

It's something BulbaBot does automatically that no one actually has to do themselves. MaverickNate 22:38, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
I'm not going to tell you not to do it, but you should be updating the card templates every time you edit a card page otherwise. MaverickNate 00:14, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
How can Bulbabot know when a page is created on the other side, and even if it did, how does it know the name? Since it's a different name. :o MannedTooth (Talk) 00:17, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
Whenever one of the wikis post the language links, the Wikibots on the other sides notice and add the links on their sides. So, because the French pages are always created with the English links posted, those pages are added to BulbaBot's queue of edits to do. Thus, since the links will be added eventually as they are on BulbaBot's queue, I would prefer if the edits you were doing weren't only adding language links. There needs to be something more substantial happening (aka, card update) MaverickNate 00:24, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
Don't worry, now that I know it's automatic, I'll stop for sure, I didn't mean to be such a nuisance. For my defense, I made sure that I only added the inter wiki link, so that your page with the old template won't get affected. MannedTooth (Talk) 01:05, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

Question regarding origin sections

Are we now starting to include in the origin a move if it was previously released on a different card. If so then a list of all the TCG attacks during a given era could be feasible (although a lot of work). SirFinkleBottom 22:44, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

I'm planning to start one once I get the TCG Ability list going if Nate gives me the go-ahead. RetroKitty 23:44, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

Lists (Again)

It's been almost a month, so I thought I might bring your attention back to the Ability List, as well as continue the conversation down here. Sorry to bother you, I'd just like to get the list started soon. Thanks! RetroKitty 00:58, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

I like it! Just keep in mind that Pokémon Powers/Poké-Powers/Poké-Bodies are completely different than Abilities, and shouldn't be included on the same lists. They should be different pages. MaverickNate 17:21, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
If the list is good, then I'd just like to know what I should call the page with Powers/Bodies. I'm thinking List of Pokémon Powers, but I'd like to know if you want it to be something else first. RetroKitty 15:06, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
Also, while (TCG) is definitely needed on the title "List of Abilities," I don't know if you also want it on the end of "List of Pokémon Powers" (or whatever it should be called), because there aren't any other pages by that name. Just some clarification on this would be great. Thanks! RetroKitty 16:58, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
Actually, I've been putting effort into removing every instance of "List of" articles in the TCG. I think the best place to put this would be straight on the Pokémon Power page, in a similar fashion as Item card. The Abilities could be on a new page Ability, that incorporates what is listed for TCG on Ability. MaverickNate 15:21, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
I've started the list on the Pokémon Power page, and made a template for the list body here. I'd appreciate it if you could give the template a quick look to make sure it's alright before I continue with the list. Thanks! RetroKitty 21:52, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
I'm wondering if we could add some color to the backgrounds of each line to distinguish between powers, Poké-Powers, and Poké-Bodies. Like, another entry to the template (probably taking {{{2}}}, or whichever one is after the jname/jtrans) listing which type of power it is, and having those powers signify different colored backgrounds. Silver/none for Powers, the red Poké-Power color for Poké-Powers, and the green body color for body (and Ability red for when Ability is used on the other lists). That's my only idea for it. MaverickNate 23:08, 6 April 2016 (UTC)
Hey, I've been working on the power list, and I've run into a small issue. Machamp (Expedition 16) is a reprint with two different names for its Power (Flatten and Terraforming), and the second one is used on two cards. The problem is that when I try to group these together, the box with Terraforming spans two columns, but the text remains at the top as opposed to being centered. I haven't been able to figure out why it's doing this and was wondering if you could maybe look into it. As for colours, I'm not sure how I'd incorporate them in some minor instances where a reprint has a different Power type (e.g. Charizard (Base Set 4)'s Energy Burn being both a Pokémon Power and a Poké-Body), simply because I've grouped powers together. If you'd like, I can change the layout to fix this, although I do think it looks nicer the way it is now. Thanks! RetroKitty 14:09, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
In order to make the list more about the powers and less about the cards, I personally think we should be listing only the initial release for each card, instead of every reprint for every card. That information isn't entirely important for the purpose of this list (making a listing of every power that exists). Also, since the names of the Powers for the machamp cards are different in english, they are considered to be different cards, which means one would be listed wherever the Sample cards fit in chronologically, and the other would be listed where Expedition falls in chronologically. MaverickNate 11:38, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
Alright, sounds good to me. That'll actually make the list quite a bit easier to get through, so thanks for that ^_^ RetroKitty 12:20, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
Got rid of reprints and added colours. If you want to, you can change the colours to whatever you want (they may be a bit dark at the moment). RetroKitty 13:51, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

Narrative Cards

Hey! :) I've talked about this to both Abcboy and Glik, but since you're the head of TCG and I saw you were connected not so long ago, I wanted to get your personal opinion on this. I know it's not big yet, but I've added everything that shows up when searching for "narrative". Others might (surely will) be added in the future as new sets are released. Anyway, take a look at it, and tell me if it is something that has the potential to be mainspaced! Thank you! :) MannedTooth (Talk) 19:00, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, Glik already got in touch about your message, and honestly, I don't find it needing anything more than just trivia points on certain pages. If added anywhere else, the only other place I would think it could be added are individual illustrator pages. MaverickNate 19:42, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

Premium Champion Pack cards.

Quick question: I'm starting to add the release information about the reprints in the Premium Champion Pack to the cards' individual pages (I only updated Double Colorless Energy so far). Does it need to be mentioned that the reprint is a Mirror Holofoil? Metalizard (talk) 19:58, 13 April 2016 (UTC)

it doesn't have to. Just make sure that it either does every time or doesn't any time MaverickNate 21:57, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

Brazilian Portuguese TCG Merchandise

Hello! Could you please add the Brazilian Portuguese TCG Merchandise to {{TCGMerchNav}}? The expansions released in Brazil are Diamond & Pearl Secret Wonders, HeartGold & SoulSilver, HS Unleashed, and all expansions from the Black & White, XY, and XY BREAK Series. --Mine4017 (talk) 18:24, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

No. That's what the Portuguese section is already there for. The card game is only released in Brazilian Portuguese, so there is no reason to have to distinguish between the two. MaverickNate 00:48, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Oh, ok! I didn't know the TCG wasn't released in Portugal. I'll be adding informaton to those pages soon. --Mine4017 (talk) 01:06, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Is this page ok? I don't have the rights to upload images, that's why there are broken links. If you could upload them, I'd be very grateful. All the images can be found on the news website of Copag, specifically on this page. --Mine4017 (talk) 02:29, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Just thought I would input some information here from some research I have done into various TCG releases. The TCG was released in Portuguese in Portugal (by Devir, who distributed the TCG in Spain, Brazil, and Portugal). However, I haven't found any evidence currently that suggests the releases in Brazil and Portugal are different in terms of language, however I have found some sets that I can only find information of being released in Portugal and not in Brazil. Lady Ariel 02:56, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Devir is linked from the Portugal Pokémon mini-site, but not the Brazilian one. It mentions the English name of BREAKthrough and Primal Clash while also mentions the Brazilian names of Plasma Blast and Plasma Freeze. The BREAKpoint expansion was released on February 3 in Portugal according to Devir and TURBO Revolução was released in Brazil on January 22 by Copag. They may have worked together before during the Black & White Series, but I'm pretty sure they release the expansions separately now. I don't know where you got the information that Devir distributes TCG in Brazil as well, since Copag released all expansions here since Heartgold & Soulsilver. --Mine4017 (talk) 03:22, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
I believe you are currently thinking about more present releases, but I was talking about much older releases (think the EX Series and early Diamond & Pearl Series). The information came from Devir websites, as can be seen on archived versions of the Brazil site and Portugal site. As you can see in these links Brazil stopped distributing Portuguese TCG after a few EX sets, but Portugal continued to release Portuguese TCG into the Diamond & Pearl Series and they even released a EX set that Brazil didn't. Weird Card

So I was looking through my collection and found a weird copy of Torkoal (Platinum 100). The card seems more or less normal, although upon inspection I discovered that the Pokédex data lists the number, category, and height of Ralts (although, curiously, the weight is correct). Since Ralts does appear in the same set (number 89 specifically), I'm wondering if this is a misprint, an error card, or even possibly fake. Here's a picture of the card:

lmexMYM.jpg

Thanks! RetroKitty 00:06, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

Also the é in Pokémon is displayed weirdly, which I'd imagine isn't normal (leading me to believe it may be fake). RetroKitty 00:08, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
Yep. That there is fake. MaverickNate 13:27, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

Packs "algorithm"

Let's say I've done research on how Roaring Skies packs are made, like, what are the possible combinations of cards that you can pull, where and how would be the best way to publish that? MannedTooth (Talk) 01:27, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

Adding information on the print run has been suggested before, and to be honest, we haven't ever been a fan of it on BP. It's highly speculative, and impossible to do for each set. It's such a trivial piece of information that really doesn't have any other sort of encyclopedic purpose or gain. MaverickNate 01:39, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

Would like to donate these pics

Hi, I recently bought this really rare ancient mew play mat that I have been on the hunt for ever since I bought my ancient mew card back in 2011. It was hard since I could never find proof that it existed or what it even looked like. I thought it would be a great addition to the ancient mew page but scanning the whole thing didn't work too well. Also I am not sure how to upload these pics on here.(Velveteen (talk) 18:47, 16 June 2016 (UTC))2:47 pm

Pokémon Channel Gamecube skin

I was looking into some stuff on the page of the Gamecube and I Stumbled across the section that had the Special Pokémon Editions. However, in this section the was a picture of a Pokémon Channel Gamecube skin[7] uploaded by You. I asked on the discussion page of the Gamecube if anyone knew anything about this but nobody knew anything about it. I also tried to find it on the internet but without success. Since you're the person who uploaded the image then maybe you know something about it. If this happens to be a fan-made Gamecube skin then maybe it should be taken into consideration to remove it from the Gamecube page. Gerrie333 (talk) 14:59, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

Xerneas & Yveltal Promos' Dex Entries.

It it worth noting that the Pokédex entries in the japanese prints of the Xerneas & Yveltal XY Promos included in the Mythical & Legendary Dream Shine Collection are different from the ones in their respective English counterparts? The English promos have the dex entry from Pokémon X while the new Japanese prints come with the dex entry of Pokémon Y (as is the case with recent cards). I'm wondering if I should state that in the Trivia section as usual or maybe just mention it in the release information. Metalizard (talk) 01:52, 16 July 2016 (UTC)

Good catch! This sort of thing has happened before. Here's the closest example that came to mind. Try to write out something similar for both the dex charts and the trivia. MaverickNate 18:41, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
Thanks. It's done. Check their pages again to see if it's okay like that. Metalizard (talk) 19:15, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

Illustrator card numbers

I've noticed that in the List of TCG illustrators, the amount of cards is occasionally just a number instead of the {{PAGESINCATEGORY}} template. Is there a reason for this, or should I change them? - unsigned comment from RetroKitty (talkcontribs) 14:48, 23 July 2016 (UTC)

A single page can only handle less than 100 uses of {{PAGESINCATEGORY}}, so only the most recently contributing illustrators use the category in order to maintain as much up-to-dateness as possible. Ones that rarely if ever change are simply left as a number. I think the most recent cut-off was contributing within generation 4, so that might need to be pushed a bit more recent to Black & White if necessary. MaverickNate 19:57, 23 July 2016 (UTC)

Power list finished

Finally managed to finish the list of Pokémon Powers, and will probably start working on the ability page/list soon. Just wondering if I should make a separate template for abilities or simply add another variant to the existing power list. Thanks! RetroKitty 21:39, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

Good job! I think just adding a variant will be a simple enough task to do for the template. Otherwise, before you start Abilities, I need you to go through the Power list again. I noticed that you don't have any of the Japanese exclusive cards listed in the template. I was hoping you might be able to add those too? The best probable method I think for you would be searching through the list of Unreleased cards. If you have any questions, I'll be here to help! MaverickNate 14:14, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I was planning to go through the side sets and promotional cards at some point to find anything I might have missed, but that list will help out a lot, thanks! RetroKitty 18:24, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

Welcome back!

It's been a while since I've seen you around! Good to see you! Need help with anything? :) MannedTooth (Talk) 14:04, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

Thanks! It's nice to be back. But I don't know of anything you might be able to help with right now. I still have to personally get my footing back into what has happened over the past few months though. Thanks for the offer! MaverickNate 14:14, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
If you ever need help you know where to find me ! :) MannedTooth (Talk) 14:17, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

I just remembered something I wanted to ask you a while ago. I'm currently uploading new card images for the cards that we don't have the English version of. Such as Pelipper_(Roaring_Skies_19). After I've uploaded the english version, should I replace the filename by XXEmeraldBreak.png to XXRoaringSkies.png as Glik mentioned? What are the procedures? Hehe sorry for being so rough for your big return, I just felt like I could give a hand to the TCG section while I'm at it. Take your time! :) MannedTooth (Talk) 16:06, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
I believe only Administrator and up are able to move files. However, it would be helpful if you modified the Summary on each of the image pages to match the title of the card shown (aka the English card page name. "Pelipper (Roaring Skies 19)" in place of "Pelipper (Emerald Break 18) ") while also removing any image credit that no longer applies. MaverickNate 16:10, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
Gotcha! Should I also remove the Emerald Break tag category? MannedTooth (Talk) 16:13, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
The categories should stay as they are. MaverickNate 16:18, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
Good. So I'll clear up Roaring skies and upload all I can. Then I'll get back to you for future work. :) MannedTooth (Talk) 16:19, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
The change to the summary should only happen to cards you've done or cards you do. Leave any that you don't change the image for. MaverickNate 16:21, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
Well, I mean I should change it for any cards that we have the english version of, even if it's not me that uploaded it, right? MannedTooth (Talk) 16:24, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, that sounds alright. MaverickNate 16:25, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
Let's say I have a card that we only have the japanese print of. But my card is a reverse holo. Should it still be uploaded over the japanese print? MannedTooth (Talk) 17:49, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
No. We only want the most standard print possible for each image representation. Just leave it for someone else who has the card we're looking for. MaverickNate 00:38, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
Good, would you mind looking a bit into what I've done to the archives, telling me if it's alright. :) MannedTooth (Talk) 00:54, 1 September 2016 (UTC)
Everything there looks to be fine. MaverickNate 01:06, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

template for origin section (tcg) ?

So, I was thinking of something similar to this to replace the little sentence at the end of every card. This example is made for this card. Let me know what you think :) MannedTooth (Talk) 16:42, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

I do not wish to replace some of what little prose we do get to write on the card pages with another table. The tables are supposed to represent specific hard data from the cards, not any of the commentary about how the card A) interacts with the other mediums that Pokémon is enjoyable or B) how it falls into place in the real world information. Additionally, there are a countless amount of exceptions on cards that make a catch-all template really impossible and ill-advised. Yeah, what you made fits one basic example, but what about cards with mistranslated moves, moves used before they were introduced in the games, owner's Pokémon, things featured other than locations, like evolutionary items, cards based on game events, cards based on other cards, cards using other cards artworks, etc. It wouldn't be good for the section. MaverickNate 17:44, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
Man, I didn't know there was so many exceptions. And yeah you're right about keeping what little text there is instead of putting only tables. I was just thinking since it's almost all the time the same pattern that a table could be nice. Well, you gave your answer, thank you for even giving a reply on it! :) MannedTooth (Talk) 18:09, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

double poison link?

So, I've been checking cards' description to make sure they were accurate (turns out they're not, I'm on it!) and I've stumbled across this card. Should I add another link to the poison condition or is one time per attack enough? MannedTooth (Talk) 23:32, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

One link is fine. Honestly, we overlink frequently on card pages and I've been meaning to remove many of them once other priorities are taken care of. Please don't spend edits to either remove or add additional links. Additionally, the correct way is {{tt|Porygon's|this Pokémon's}}. I would like you to ask whether a series of changes you plan on making is appropriate or even wanted in the future before you start making them.
As for the cardtext update, the only person approved to be making that change is Glik. MaverickNate 12:17, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
Ok, I'm going to reverse the two or three times I've changed the this Pokémon's thingy. As for the rest of what I've done, is it okay? They were MANY missing description, typos or print variants that weren't there, I based myself on the Charizard card from Base Set since it was a featured article. Last thing, ahould I replace every link of Asleep, Poisoned, Confused, Paralyzed, etc. by the Special Condition page itself?
That's something I can take care of if you think what I did was okay, I read through every card and I spot the differences in prints, like a missing word, a word switch or even a capital letter that changed.
Finally, what do you mean by the cardtext update? MannedTooth (Talk) 17:43, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
Adding the quotes from the different print variations is fine, as long as you do it accurately. You did not transcribe the text accurately on Electrode (Base Set 21) and I'm not entirely interested in having to double check every one of your edits because you're missing key details on various cards.
Secondly, I'm just going to quote my post above, because it needs to be reiterated. Please don't spend edits to either remove or add additional links.
The cardtext update is when the TCGAttack template is changed over to the Template:Cardtext series of templates. This is something that users need to be approved to change. Based on what you did to Regirock ex (EX Hidden Legends 98), you've shown you do not have the fundamental understanding of the cards, card details and differences, and the TCG in order to be doing such a significant change to pages. That being said, until you have proven throughout the rest of the wiki that you can improve your precision with minor details, I don't think editing the very technical section of the TCG is right for you at this time. I'm not going to tell you not to edit TCG, I'm just going to point out that if things continue the way they are, I'm not going to be able to get the things done that I need to finish if I'm going through every edit you make to check for accuracy. I don't mean to be so harsh, because you have been rather friendly, but that's just the way I'm seeing it currently. Essentially shape up or ship over to another section that interests you for a while. MaverickNate 18:22, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
I get it, as for Electrode, I don't see what you mean, I just read it again and it looks alright to me, what am I missing? Secondly, you're probably talking about me adding a link to coin to 3 cards after you told me, I actually just read it after while, I didn't notice that small part. As for the templates, you are right, I don't know enough about TCG to update them and make sure everything is alright, all I can do is update the template and I know for a fact that you want to update everything at once so that it can be deleted from the list of cards using the TCGAttack template. I get it, I've always tried to find my place on this wiki, like, I'd be more than happy if I could be part of the TCG project, but the thing is, I don't know what to do, so I just do whatever I can find at the time, that explains why I always ask you for something specific you would need me to do! :P
Last question, I've been updating the quotes from the cards, is the way I did ok? (like, every print is listed in the "heading" of the print. ie: Base Set, Base Set 2 and Legendary Collection prints) or should we limit this to every instance the card quote has been updated? I really don't know if I've been clear enough, if you went through my edits, you will surely get it, if that's not okay, I'll go back through these to fix it.
I'm really thankful for your patience, I know I can make rapid and unwanted changes to the wiki that will probably upset you. I always do it in a good intention. MannedTooth (Talk) 18:34, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
You not seeing what's missing on Electrode is throwing up the red flag for me. If you can't see the details that are missing, I can't be confident that you can notice other details on other cards. In order for me to start trusting your work, you need to find it on your own.
With the cardtext template, the only list I have of cards that are following several outdated standards is the pages that link to Template:TCGAttack. If someone is only able to update the template and not the other outdated standards, those finer details may remain incorrect on pages for years to come. That's why approval is now needed to do those changes, and myself, Glik, and nuva-kal are the only ones approved to make those changes.
I've been limiting it to every time the card has been updated, otherwise there can be upwards of 50 sets that should theoretically be listed. My policy is mostly that if it isn't appropriate/feasible for every card, then it isn't appropriate for any card.
A good rule of thumb is that if a series of wanted changes affects 10 or more pages, the leaders of the sections should know about and approve the changes. MaverickNate 18:53, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
This was actually not the thing that I noticed unfortunately. MaverickNate 18:58, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
I just found it, I must've been blind or something. Well, for my defense, I noticed REALLY small changes such as a single capital S on Devolution Spray (Base Set 72) which is, in itself, something most people wouldn't notice. I won't be updating the TCGAttack template from now on (or until I can get your approval, which I won't for now since I'll be working on card quotes (if you allow me to do so) ). Should I proceed to raplce every heading title I've added to only include to every time the card was updated? The reason I did this, is because of Charizard (Base Set 4) since it was a featured article, i thought this was the proper way to do it, (there was Base Set and Legendary Collection in the same heading even though it didn't change from one to another). MannedTooth (Talk) 19:03, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
Wait, what? Hold on. MannedTooth (Talk) 19:03, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
Card quotes is a useful thing that you can do, yes. You're doing a good job on that. Just be aware that things such as punctuation and bold lettering also should be considered. As for when to mention different prints, only mention the initial print whenever the card changes prints. Don't worry about the cards you've already done. Just move forward from where you are now. MaverickNate 19:11, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
Sure thing! Thank you, that brought a smile to my face ! :) MannedTooth (Talk) 19:14, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

Nidoran ♀/♂

So, what is the proper way of spelling those? Because I've seen only instances of the name written without a space like Nidoran♀ but on Giovanni%27s_Nidoran♀_(Gym_Challenge_75) 's card text is clearly a space. Your thoughts? MannedTooth (Talk) 17:47, 10 September 2016 (UTC)

Leave it spaced out in any references in the Cardtext section, note it in a similar way as name misspellings is on Drowzee (EX FireRed & LeafGreen 32), and spell it correctly everywhere outside of under the cardtext subheader. MaverickNate 19:10, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

Tyrogue bad order

I've come across this card, and the order of the evolutions are wrong, both in the infobox than in the card text. Since I don't have the permission to change either template, I'm relaying this to you. The correct order is Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee and Hitmontop. MannedTooth (Talk) 12:23, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

The order is forced on the page the way it is due to technical limitations that puts them back in national dex order no matter what order they are entered into the templates. MaverickNate 13:26, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Hm... That's weird, I'm convinced that it can work though... By the way, I wasn't talking about entering the Pokémon in the good order in the card page itself, but rather in this template. I am more than convinced it will work. I'm tempted to ask you to give me permission so that I can try it out, but I doubt that's something feasible, long story short; they are entered int he wrong order in the template the page refers to, if you switch them up, it's gonna work, it has to. MannedTooth (Talk) 13:51, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
We don't touch the card infobox unless absolutely necessary. Changing it forces the wiki down for extended periods of time if we're busy (which we are because of the CoroCoro leaks) MaverickNate 13:56, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Okay, I get it, but are you saying you're gonna change it later? Because the card infobox is not that big of a deal, but the TCGNote template, which is not used that much is. MannedTooth (Talk) 13:59, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Because, literally all we have to do is to switch 106 and 107 under the BabyTyrogue part of this template and it's done! :P MannedTooth (Talk) 14:02, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
That becomes irrelevant when the Template:Cardtext/Baby updated template gets put on that page during the cardtext update for Neo. MaverickNate 14:12, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Oh, you're right, but will that template be able to support 3 Pokémons? I think Tyrogue is one of the only one baby who could evolve in more than 1 Pokémon. Anyway, I'll trust you! :P Is the work I'm doing alright ? I love feedbacks. MannedTooth (Talk) 14:15, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
The picture in the template is of the Babies, not the evolutions. I haven't been able to look into your recent work in the past day or so. MaverickNate 14:18, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Hm… According to actual cards and the way the cards are written, the picture should not be of the babies, but of the evolutions, why is a change like that being made? It sounds unnatural and doesn't respect the way the card itself is written. And don't worry, I'm paying attention to every detail, you don't have to look into every one of my edits, I just wanted to know if you did, it's okay, you don't have to ! :P MannedTooth (Talk) 14:22, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
The infobox is the one that is equivalent to how the cards are set up, with the clause of "Evolves into <whatever>" being the matching pair with what's in the infobox. The one in the Attack/Text template is an aesthetic feature added by us to make the page more exciting. If you look at other examples like Shaymin-EX (Roaring Skies 77), there's no place on the card where there's a tiny little circle with Shaymin in it. The circle in that section represents the 1 Pokémon that the card is devoted to. MaverickNate 16:01, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
If you say so, but is the order in the infobox gonna be the same on the card itself or is it gonna be ordered by dex? Because both options are nice, it's either "authentic" or either "classified" (like, ordered or whatever). MannedTooth (Talk) 16:08, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
It will be ordered the same way as the card MaverickNate 16:10, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
Okay, so I've put the card on a post-it so that I can remind you about it when the info box will be updated. I'm gonna continue checking sets! I'm progressing faster than I thought! :) MannedTooth (Talk) 16:13, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

Ho-Oh, first card with 3 attacks?

Is Ho-Oh_(Neo_Revelation_7) the first card to ever have 3 attacks ? If yes, is it notable in the trivia section? MannedTooth (Talk) 14:40, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
