Pokémon Ping Pong Tournament

The Pokémon Ping Pong Tournament (Japanese: ポケモンピンポン大会 Pokémon Ping Pong Tournament) is an anime-exclusive sports competition that is held in Sandalstraw Town, Sinnoh. It takes place in a giant dome that has ping pong tables located outside for entrants to practice.
It was first mentioned in Stopped in the Name of Love!, when Barry showed Ash and his friends a poster advertising the competition and revealed his plans of participating. The tournament itself was featured in To Thine Own Pokémon Be True!.
The Pokémon Ping Pong Tournament is one of two events known for attracting a large number of visitors to Sandalstraw Town, along with its Pokémon Contest.
Competition
The Pokémon Ping Pong Tournament is an event where Pokémon and Trainer form a pair and compete in a game of ping pong. The 32 Trainers use a paddle while the partner Pokémon uses any part of its body to hit the ball. Pokémon are not allowed to use their moves and doing so will result in disqualification. The prize for winning the competition are six golden ping pong balls and a runner-up reward is a year's supply of special Pokémon food.
Ash, Dawn, Barry, Jessie, Halverson, Wilkinson, and O competed in the tournament with Pikachu, Ambipom, Empoleon, Meowth, Marowak, Farfetch'd, and Shiftry, respectively. During Dawn and O's match, Dawn's paddle was broken, forcing Ambipom to continue alone. Though she fought hard, Ambipom eventually lost to O in the semifinals, who later went on to win the tournament by defeating Theodore in the finals.
