This is a list of Pokémon in the order dictated by the New Pokédex, one of the two Pokédex orders in Pokémon Gold, Silver, Crystal, and Stadium 2 (along with the Old Pokédex, which is based on the Kanto Pokédex order).
It contains the same 251 Pokémon as the Old Pokédex, but with a different order that puts the Johto first partner Pokémon first, followed with Pokémon native to Johto and Kanto. Unlike the Old Pokédex, the New Pokédex order places all Pokémon with their evolutionary relatives (for example, Pichu comes directly before Pikachu and Raichu, and Scyther comes directly before Scizor).
This Pokédex order could be considered a precursor to the regional Pokédexes of later generations and the habitat-based list of Pokémon from Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. Unlike other regional Pokédexes, it includes all Pokémon from both Kanto and Johto, placing those that do not appear in Johto closer to the end. Furthermore, the New Pokédex differs from the later regional Pokédexes in that it includes Pokémon that are unobtainable in Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal without events or trading with a Generation I game (namely the Omanyte and Kabuto lines, the Kanto first partner Pokémon, and the Kanto Legendary Pokémon), which was addressed in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver by making all non-Mythical Pokémon in its updated Johto Pokédex obtainable via normal gameplay.
Unlike later regional Pokédexes, this order is not referred to directly as the "Johto Pokédex" in-game in Generation II, instead being titled New Pokédex Mode (Japanese: しんがたずかんモード new-style encyclopedia mode), in contrast to the National Pokédex order being titled Old Pokédex Mode (Japanese: ふるいずかんモード old-style encyclopedia mode), in addition to A to Z Mode (Japanese: アイウエオモード AIUEO mode) and Unown Mode (Japanese: アンノーンずかん Unknown encyclopedia).
In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, this ordering system, now explicitly referred to as the Johto Pokédex, is updated to include five new Evolutions of the featured Pokémon (Yanmega, Ambipom, Lickilicky, Tangrowth, and Mamoswine), resulting in many Pokémon not having the same numbers. Up to #101 (Yanma), Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal's New Pokédex and Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver's Johto Pokédex are identical; however, the two diverge at #102, which is Sunkern in the New Pokédex and Yanmega in the Johto Pokédex.
In Generation II, these numbers were rarely used in Pokémon media. The New Pokédex was available as a Pokédex order but the numbers were not displayed in-game.

In Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, the player's Pokédex uses the New Pokédex order by default. However, the New Pokédex numbers are not shown anywhere in the games, only the National Pokédex numbers.
In the New Pokédex Mode and A to Z Mode, the Pokédex numbers are omitted from the list. The Old Pokédex Mode is the only Pokédex mode that displays the numbers, but it lacks a scroll bar. Regardless of the Pokédex mode, the individual entries include the National Pokédex number of each Pokémon.
