- This article is about the Field Moves in Pokémon Ranger games. For the moves usable out of the battle in the core games, see Field move.
Field Moves (Japanese: フィールドわざ Field Move) are special moves Pokémon can use outside of battles in Pokémon Ranger, Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, and Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs.
Pokémon Ranger

Field moves were first introduced in Pokémon Ranger and are primarily used to remove obstacles in the overworld. They are similar to Hidden Machine moves from the core series games, with two Field Moves sharing names with and having similar effects to Flash and Cut.
Aside from Flash and Cross, all Field Moves come in three different levels of power, indicated by a number from one to three. For a Pokémon to clear an obstacle, its Field Move level must be greater than or equal to the level required by the obstacle.
Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia

Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia introduces levels 4 and 5 for some Field Moves. Unlike in the original Pokémon Ranger, the only Pokémon that don't have a Field Move are the ones that either can't be kept and Partner Pokémon. The Field Move Gust has been removed, and Pokémon that used this move in Pokémon Ranger now use either Cut or, in one case, Demist. Cross has been split from one Field Move used only to swing on posts to a variety of different traveling moves that involve riding on Pokémon over a variety of different terrains.
Many new Field Moves have been created, along with two new categories of Field Moves, Map Moves and Area Moves, that are used for purposes other than Target Clear. Some of these Field Moves are unique to one Pokémon and can only be used in certain circumstances.
