Pokémon world locations |
The Magma Hideout (Japanese: マグマだんアジト Team Magma Hideout) is Team Magma's base of operations in the Hoenn region, located in the middle of Mt. Chimney, with the entrance on the Jagged Pass.
In Pokémon Ruby and Omega Ruby, it is instead located on a small island cave on the outskirts of Lilycove City, where the Team Aqua Hideout would be in Pokémon Sapphire, Pokémon Emerald, and Alpha Sapphire.
Geography
This version of the Magma Hideout is located inside of Mt. Chimney, only accessible if the player has obtained the Magma Emblem on Mt. Pyre. The entrance is located in the middle of Jagged Pass, and before the player obtains the Magma Emblem, it is guarded by a single Team Magma Grunt, who will battle the player once and not leave his post. It is where Groudon is awakened by the power of the Blue Orb just before the player battles Maxie.
This Magma Hideout is notably different than the one in Lilycove City. It is a series of interconnected tunnels dug solely for the purpose of locating and awakening Groudon at the heart of the volcano, with one room containing drilling equipment used for digging the base. The deeper floors of the hideout also have multiple pools of lava. Also, unlike the Lilycove City base, no warp tiles are present here, and wild Pokémon can be found around it.
