From Route 129, Route 130 maintains an east-west alignment for its entire length. Not many Trainers can be found on the water surface on the route, making the task of traversing the pathway that much easier.
In Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, on certain days, Mirage Island will appear in the middle of the route under certain circumstances.
In the main area, among the northeastern patch of seaweed on the route (south of the isolated Dive spot in the north), in the northwest corner of the west patch of bare seafloor (hidden)
In the isolated northeast area—accessed by the isolated Dive spot in the northeast corner of the route—two tiles away from the northmost wall and one tile away from the wall to the west (hidden)

In Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, Route 130 bears several similarities to Route 230 in Sinnoh: both routes are east–west water routes with no north or south exits and both contain an island with grass, stairs, and a place to plant Berries. Also, on both routes, the island is the only place to encounter certain baby Pokémon in the wild (Wynaut in Hoenn, Togepi in Sinnoh). However, in Route 130's case, Mirage Island isn't always there.
In all languages, Swimmer Katie's dialogue with the player is presented as a senryū.
